Really appreciate this rundown, as I've just began running this adventure and haven't had the time for prep this week that I'd've liked.
As for my experience so far: at the risk of turning the module into something it's not, we're running in our House Rules B/X and I've tried to make the map a lot sparser by greatly expending its scale; it took a few hours to walk from the standing stones to the village, for instance. This gave players time to talk with the maiden, talk amongst each other, and start scheming as to how to make this situation work in their favour. All in all, our first session was mostly spent with players pontificating and acquainting themselves with the surroundings, and I'm so excited to see how they proceed once they're snuck into the father's tavern.
Good looking out on those strength checks and other multi-check situations. I figure a quick roll-under-STR ought to do it for us. Thanks again!

Great review. Running this now as a PbP game, and am *greatly* enjoying the social end of things. There are only four PCs, but they are experts at avoiding combat... we'll see how the tomb goes!

Not even done watching this and it's the most useful DCC adventure video i have seen yet. I'd watch a lot more of these. Good produi, great overview and insight.

When I ran this, I cut that opening encounter & altered a bit of the set up, for much the reason you mentioned.

good video. I ran this module twice. But never with DCC. Being disillusioned with 5e ( bit my players at the time not so much ) i converted it to 5e with success. 2 years later running it with my new group in Basic Fantasy I had more success. I noticed that i didnt have some of the issues with the module you had- probably due to having to convert some rules and monster stats ( as I judged them ) for another system.
------ A point on multiple characters. I'm an old school gamer , and it was a much practiced habit to run 2 ( or more possibly ) PC's per player. My 5e run thru only one character per player which worked- for obvious reasons, My basic fantasy run thru each had 2 characters and there were some deaths ( 5 players = 10 characters ) As you say , as long as the character sheet and the game system isn't a complex tax form it works well.
