If I wanted a study bible for cross reference and getting to know a little history or context the writer is talking in, which study bible would you recommend? Dakes, Thomson Chain or any other? I have the Common Man's Reference Bible and will sell it soon. I can't look past the silly comments, snide remarks and overall unprofessional approach to certain topics of disagreement. It's loaded with these things. Here and there, I could overlook, but almost every page is full of language that sounds like street slang and intentionally meant to be taken as a rude poke in the eye. Overall, it's just snide and unprofessional. You can make a valid point of disagreement with "common" language without being "dirt common" .
Guess if i bought the common mans bible for the notes it may be a issue. Happy it’s not a Study bible where pages or full of errors in theology. I need to use it before i can make a decision on the references. Pure uncorrupted KJV was what i bought it for
yea you've mentioned the eat the food and spit out the sticks because most of your studies are from trinitarians and so forth and it reminds me of Raymond Franz who said when he was a Jehovah's witness and one of the 12 men who were the bosses in the watchtower headquarters he would receive letters from JWs with bible questions and he said in the watchtower library it was full of bible commentaries and study bibles of trinitarians and he had to get answers from them and he started wondering why if the watchtower was god's organization he would have to refer to the "devil's christiandom" to get deep questions answered and that made him start to question things to get him out of the group.
Between the flat earth commentary and the gifts of the Spirit commentary stopped me from getting the 5th Ed of the Common Man's which is red letter and bound in luscious lambskin. This 20 bucks hardback will do pastor 😁😁

I have the common man's 5th edition and I just ignore the notes mostly I just wanted it for the red letter and true wide margins

Open Study Bible with its Introductions to each Book is incredible.
