    Always appreciate your input and thoughts on many different aspects.
    Project Farm channel has some great experiments.
    I’ve had the best luck with Yamabond for the case halves vs anything else that I’ve tried.
    Would be cool if a bunch of us showed up in VW’s for a drag and drive event 😂

    Many years ago we used Curil K-2 sealer for the case halves; it was made in Germany back then (1980’s).

    What would it take to build the 78/94 I believe with the AA Pistons and heads I love the way it sounded when you fired it up. Do you have one available for sale?

    about the revving the motor to break it in ? How does that apply to a VW the cam is under the crank , it's gonna get oil splash from the crank bleed out . The best oil I used back in the 80s was Exxon Superflow 20-50 . + it was super cheap at Autoshack

    Really informative video Darrin...thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! Stupid noob question...if you're not putting break-in lube on the bearing surfaces of the cam, is there any benefit to maybe putting engine oil on the bearing surfaces so there's at least a little lubrication on them when the engine first starts up?

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’d want to put oil or assembly lube on all bearing surfaces to prevent metal on metal when rotating the engine during assembly and prevent a dry start up.
      Cam and lifter break in lube is different than assembly lube.

    What do you seal the cylinder studs in the case with? I got a new case and have to install studs in the case savers and they look like they could leak buy the cylinders. Any info would be appreciated. Your the man with the plan. Thank you for your time and all the videos you make.

      Yambond work good on the studs, it is very hard to clean up, they make two types , the one that stays pliable is good for the case halfs, you need the that gets hard for the studs,

    I've heard you talk about wanting more oil on the valve train. I came across a theory about doing the hoover mod and also grinding a notch into the side of the rocker arm pointing toward the top of the valve to squirt oil on the valve train. have you heard of this? Any experience with it? Also what are your thoughts on the hoover mod in general?
