You are so right! My best friend’s daughter had around 80 guests at her first baby shower. She ended up donating and giving to her friends about 75% of everything she received! Never needed to use it!!
Doctor here - magnesium, potassium, calcium, and several other vitamin deficiencies can all contribute to muscle cramps! Dark leafy greens, salmon, avocados, almonds, and yogurt are some other foods (in addition to bananas) that are high in both magnesium and potassium and are generally very safe in pregnancy. Cramps can also be due to dehydration or under/overactivity, so remember to drink plenty of water and maintain moderate activity levels daily, stretch, take breaks when needed, etc. But you are already doing the best thing for you and your baby - following closely with your OB and running everything by them! Just wanted to offer some suggestions for foods that are commonly overlooked as great sources of necessary vitamins and minerals. 😊
High risk pregnancies have to be careful on magnesium ingestion specifically. When I was pregnant with my twin I had the same issue and my MFM said a quarter of the regular dose I would take. Can mess with your cervix etc.
Been using magnesium cream on my feet and legs prior to bedtime and that has helped! It’s crazy that Charley horses are one of my main side effects of pregnancy. I never would’ve though lol.
The NURSERY IS ADORABLE and you guys have done such a great job! - As for the maternity clothes, my sister had a similar clothing issue with her pregnancy. She decided to purchase mens dress shirts in loose, cotton, with long-sleeve and in so many pretty patterns and colors. She rolled up the sleeves and wore them with leggings or skinny stretch jeans with tennis shoes or cuter shoes, jewelry and full-on “date night” makeup. I can 100% see you doing the same. :)
I cant stop thinking if I were😊 you I would move right from the hospital into that nursery/guest room and stay there till baby sleeps through the night IN THE CRIB so close to that bed! So perfect especially because there is a bathroom near by.😊
Aside from the magnesium suggestions everyones already given, I found that knowing the correct way to stretch your legs and feet during a charlie horse made a HUGE difference in alleviating the pain and getting it to reside faster. I know it's not the most aesthetic option, but if you plan on using the nursery glider a lot for pumping or feeding (bottle or breastfeeding), a small tiered cart next to it is a HUGE help. I stocked mine with snacks, burpcloths, entertainment stuff etc. I pumped for a little while and then my daughter was formula fed and the cart came in clutch the entire time. You never realise how long you're going to be stuck sitting and the things you need close by!
The tiered carts at Michael's are a great size and there was a sale on them recently. I've seen various vids of mamas stocking and organizating their carts with essentials. And my baby fever goes into overdrive everytime I see the itty bitty cute items. 🥰
You will need a bassinet to use at night in your main floor bedroom. Nap time can be in the nursery with a good monitor to hear the baby moving or making noise. You will need a good nursing pillow to feed baby so you can be comfortable in any chair or sofa that you choose.
I just want to say how much I appreciate you working on the videos sans makeup. You are a beautiful woman, and your natural look shows your beautiful skin and those wonderful eyes. I hadn’t considered this until after I watched your nursery reveal so it might be a little late for this but since you’re struggling with space and fitting your dresser, have you considered moving the queen bed to the nursery nook and using the “guest bedroom” for your baby? I know a baby doesn’t take up much space but it’s all the baby things that do. 😅 I mean if a queen bed fits in that nook, that is. Maybe it can evolve into that later? Just a thought. Omg, I kept thinking this the entire time she was doing the nursery. I even commented on the idea of flipping the King guest bed to the new space now that they took the built-ins out. Oh, well.
Right?! Unless they bed-share (no judgment) I’d want to be closer. Or just have a bassinet in the primary bedroom. But when would they use the nursery? Nap time? I don’t know lol
Utilize the whole guest room for whatever you need for the baby. Baby stuff ends up taking up most of the house despite how much you don’t plan on that happening lol
Every Thredup ad ever, "this was originally 100 million dollars, but it was 75% off! So I got it for ONLY 10 million dollars!" I can't fathom spending this much money on clothes, and I'm talking about these supposed discount prices!
Omg. Yes! I was thinking the same type of thing! How absolutely ridiculous those prices are. $80 for second-hand banana republic is absurd! You can easily thrift things like that yourself, and if you don’t want to, there are so many other online resale options.
Hi MaCenna, My daughter just had a baby boy and she ordered the size tags (that you see in a clothes store) to help organize the baby clothes by size (i.e. - 3 months, 6 months, etc.). It really helps to plan ahead on what sizes you have and what sizes you will need as you get closer. Enjoy every moment, your nursery is absolutely beautiful!
The baby’s room looks amazing! It’s so cozy and inviting. Can’t wait to see it as you continue to add pieces. One thing we have done for our kiddos is we put a mattress protector, then a sheet, ANOTHER mattress protector, and then ANOTHER sheet. Saves so much time when cleaning up leaks from diapers, spit up, and throw up when they’re older🙈🤢
That is really cool, it's an astrolabe, an ancient device used to measure the positions of the sun and stars in the sky. I also love the Hagrid's Lantern Table Lamp for the small table next to the chair she mentioned.
I love it! So cute! They also have this basketball neon-ey looking light I would totally see in Romeo's office. It's nice and big and warmer than most "neon signs" you see out there. And who knows, maybe kiddo will grow up to be a basketball fan as well, and it can go in his room when he's older!
Are you planning on using the guest bedroom/nursery as your bedroom for the first time when the baby comes? Just thinking about family staying over, nap time, changing and nursing during the night. Love the idea of an interior dilemma podcast!
I think I would prepare to move into the guest room/ nursery. Pro tip if you can find a spot for a small mini fridge it makes fetching night time bottles or pumping supplies.
Tip on the baby mattress read the label pretty sure that's the one I got my grandson one side is made for baby and other side is for later for toddler.👶
Love what you did, but I would have flipped the room. Put the queen/king bed between the windows (“nursery side”) and move nursery to “inner walls”, so you can make more of the space, no matter who is in there. ❤
Suggestion for changing table search. I didn’t like any either so I got a vintage dresser and mounted a changing table/pad to the top. The top was damaged anyway so once we are done using it for diapering we will remove it and repair the top. It’s so much prettier that way and has great storage.
Yes I do! And I’m a little sad she’s already more then half way though her pregnancy and she hasn’t spent any time with mama! I thought I remember her saying she wanted to be close to her mom during her pregnancy… 🤔
I would recommend two changing stations, upstairs and downstairs. I had a carry basket for the early days and would pop it in the cot when you needed to and easy to move a sleeping baby up and down to different parts of your home without disturbing a sleeping baby.
Many people have mentioned magnesium, which is great to take internally, but you can also buy something called magnesium oil. Rub it on your legs at night and it really helps with the cramps.
Yes, you can make it too, it’s just a 1-1 ratio of magnesium to water. I made it during my last pregnancy, (my daughter is 12 days) it helped. I would get them in the morning as I was waking up, so awful to wake to.
I love the design of the nursery! What if you put the glider/rocking chair with the back to the room by the edge of the space. It would be facing the crib. Then you can put the crib in the middle of the two windows. Can’t wait to see the finishing touches.
The nursery is so charming. I love the moon light. It’s the icing on the cake! Love the ladder and lights. It’s very beautiful and I love how much you are enjoying making it all happen. It’s sweet to see you and Romeo’s excitement. I’m so happy for you. ❤
You can always replace or add chain to the chandelier you choose if the chain isn't long enough. Yes, definitely get a waterproof cover for the mattress before the cotton mattress pad.😊❤
Blessings to you MaCenna and Romeo . I can’t begin to say how happy I am for you and Romeo on having your first baby. Continuous blessings. And the baby’s room is so so pretty. Your a genius when it come to decorating
When doing renos, a wheely cart for your tools is a good idea. Then you can push them with ease from room to room and free up your floor space. It looks neater too and keeps you from tripping over it.
Ohh my goodness, Im currently 32 weeks and the Charlie horse leg cramps kill me! They always happen at night and what I’ve kind of learned is staying super hydrated and not overstretching is the only remedy. Also a really weird thing that I learned is if you get one; mustard apparently really helps like it’s like hikers trick for cramps.
Mine happened at night also. Alternating legs. Each one shot straight up, while I tried to grab it. I elbowed my husband. HELP ME. Rub it out. It's as hard as a rock.... our neighbors found this humorous. Nothing funny about those cramps.
Also baby clothes tip, don’t get a ton of newborn clothes. Focus on sizes up because they only stay in newborn for maybe a month; at least that is what happened with my cousin and he went straight into 3-6 month after being 1 month old.
I would so highly suggest getting a wipeable changing pad (like the Skiphop grey one) - so much easier than cleaning changing pad covers. I used the same one with both babies. And my older one is 5 and younger is 1, so u know it lasts a long time!
I think a smaller bed or Murphy bed would work better in guest half of nursery. Also, you can purchase a vintage dresser that fits in the space you we wanting with changing pad on top of that. Enjoy
It looks so beautiful❤️ Here in Spain babys usually sleep in the same rooms as their parents or even in the same bed, just because it's practical to have them near. A newborn wakes up a lot during the night and if you have to go to another room to calm the baby down and get it to sleep again you don't get to rest. Just think about it, but maybe Romeo and you could move into the guestroom to sleep near the Baby.
Every time I see your downstairs bedroom I feel nostalgic. I am 72. When I was a little girl I had the same French Provincial dresser along with a matching canopy bed and vanity table that opened with a mirror and makeup storage - bedside table too! 🌸💖🌸
You might have already tried it and I missed it but placing the dresser under the window where the rocking chair is and putting the chair where you wanted to place the dresser. Again you might of tried it and still too big for that space. I love the nursery. Love your vision and how it came together.
Hi MaCenna, I’m very happy for you, Romeo and Kingsley for the arrival of your baby. I’m a big time planner, and I think you should consider to design a create a changing station down stairs and make room in your bedroom while you put your baby on schedule. I would love to see more vintage shopping, a more videos with your mom whenever possible.
Why not use the two drawer units from the storage wall? You could paint them to blend with the vibe of the room an add a top to unite them so they don’t shift. Not vintage but definitely using what’s available.
Hi MaCenna! I forget the name of the mattress, but I remember a mattress that is all mesh. There’s no inner workings of a normal mattress this way if the baby does roll over they cannot suffocate because it’s all air. I don’t remember what it was called but I bet you can Google it and find out it was very interesting, it did get high reviews for SIDS
SO...I guess I'm confused??? What has happened to make you a "High Risk" pregnancy? We ALL need to take a breath & remember that Women have been having babies a LONG TIME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I worked a FULL time job with each of my three children. Did so till I had 2 weeks to delivery date. It was NOT a desk job! It was a very physical work environment with 40 to 50 hour schedule. Lots of lifting & moving. All my babies were 100% great! No problems with delivery...nothing! Life goes ON!!! Yes, I understand that it's your first baby & it's a special thing!!! I also remember that you said this wasn't going to become a pregnancy channel just because you got pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you guys! It was your choice to wait for a family this long. Going a year from the time that you decided that you wanted to start a family is nothing. There are people that can't have children at all or it takes them years to finally get pregnant. Very happy for you guys like I said!! Just remember...your not going to Break!
Yes,because she’s 35,it is known medically as a geriatric pregnancy and therefore high risk, she didn’t just make this up for herself.🙄 How old were you?
Women over 35 yrs old even if they are perfectly healthy and women who are 17 years old or younger even if healthy are both categories for high risk pregnancies. Of course there are many predisposed diseases that make pregnancies higher risk too. I was in the 17 and younger category but no problems. Also RN and learned this in OB rotations.
@@lauramitchell6725 I had my last child at 33 years old. My point was, she is acting like she's going to break if she does anything! Watch the last few video's! Romeo is doing all the lifting & moving! She's having leg cramps because she's stopped doing activities!! She won't Break!!!
Oh I seen it! The panic & not thinking about the size of furniture! Living in a mobile home space is a big struggle & placement is so important to be appealing to the eye.
You might want to consider a nightstand by the nursery chair with drawers and or shelves in it to house books and other baby times needed. I also think it would be less likely for the baby to tip it over as they grow.
Such a cute room but I would move the moon lamp over towards the middle so the switch is better accessible from the chair so when you read books or nurs it’s easier. Put a little safer so baby can’t get to cords. The cord can then get tucked behind the bed rail and be less visible ( just an idea 😊). Also perhaps your side table could be something you can add small books and a basket for small new born things ( spit up towel, tissues, dummy….)
For leg cramps the best advice my friend told me to stop the cramp is to stretch your foot so it’s flat. This stops the cramp. If you feel it start and you are laying down you can ask Romeo to stretch you or use other leg to get your foot flat. Try it and I still do it today if I get a cramp. I hope this makes sense.
What an exciting time in your lives. I remember those days of preparing for a baby. My youngest is 18 now. Time just flies by. Savor every single moment!
Came here just to say the same thing about putting his changing station in the guest room area. Guests can make do w/the closet. You could also use nights stands w/storage on that side. I just feel like it will keep everything from feeling crowded. You could still do a smaller scale chest of drawers or little cabinet, or maybe even your cute stacking baskets on the nursery side if u wanted to.
Slepp with thick wool socks on for leg cramps. I struggled a lot with leg cramps during my pregnancies and it completely went away when I started sleeping with wool socks ❤️
Yep, third trimester is when my best friend who was taking Ritual prenatal started having such a low minerals because ritual sucks and she almost lost her baby a few weeks later. Solé water- sea moss gel and Thorne prenatals saved her and babies life- great job making a little nest for the baby boy!
@@teresaallen8927 Yess AG1 is a joke- we do detox for military veterans, and people who dealt with addiction all the way to sexual abuse - one of our people is in Pasadena and has to deal with all the Los Angeles people who think they’re getting minerals from AG one and they’ll have literally every mineral deficiency known to man. Irish Sea moss or Celtic salt is 15 bucks and is way better than any AG1 bullshit but they don’t pay.
Baby’s room is so awesome!! Love the design. ❤ I wish, I still had that vintage buffet that my mom and I used for a dresser/changing station. It was such a unique piece had a perfect cradling wood lip on the top for a changing area, drawers like a dresser and a modest rounded back with narrow rectangle smokey mirror for pretty decorative accent. I would have totally made a fun road trip to give it to you if it was something you were looking for. You have a great eye for vintage pieces so I’m sure you’ll find something amazing. 😊❤
Baby pj tip from mom of six. The zip up sleepers from Hannah Andersson are the absolute best for quick nightime (or daytime) diaper changes. Plus, they come in super cute prints. Avoid anything with back snaps or closures. They may look cute but it's a pain to have to roll baby over to do them up:)
The room is so stunning! And magnesium will help and relax your muscles but it’s best to take it at night before bed since it can make you sleepy. ❤ can’t wait for more baby blogs and room makeovers
I would HIGHLY suggest the peanut changer , it is a rubber that does not feel cold and is easy to wipe down , a bit pricey but SO SO SO SO SO worth it !
Tonic water helps with leg cramps. It contains a tiny amount of quinine. Just drink 1/2 cup each evening as a preventative or when you get a cramp. Really helps. I keep a 1 L bottle in the frig and drink as necessary.
During my first pregnancy I got very useful advice from my gynecologist. She said that babies are BIG)) you will be amazed how fast they grow. So that advice was about clothes for newborn, my girl came out 55cm high and after one month I used clothes for 3-6month old babies 😅 I ended up using only 4 bodysuits for the first month))
I recommend a fold out wall unit bed system and do away with that huge bed in the baby room. You'll find that bed will be more in the way and a dumping zone than anything else. Atleast with a hide away bed you'll have shelves, floor space and room to grow but have the intermittent space for guests. I'm sure this would be "easy" for you to build; your a rock star with these things!!! The baby bump is super cute as is the clothes you've selected. Can't wait for Baby XO to arrive!!! ❤
I know it doesn’t fit the style of the space, but the 3-drawer MALM dresser from IKEA is what we use for a changing table for our kiddo! A lot of changing pads fit perfectly on the top of the dresser, and it comes with all the right mounting hardware to ensure it won’t tip over. You could always DIY it to make it match the rest of the room!
A lot of those baby stores closed during COVID, but I remember when I was pregnant/pre covid, there use to be baby shows where a lot of brands would show their products in one location, including small business. There were also Mom2Mom sales where moms were selling their used baby items. I don't know if those still exist after COVID, or even in your area, but worth a check.
We used these. Were a life saver if you have a super squirmy baby, especially living in a colder climate. They really come in handy when travelling as well as you don’t have to bring sheets and blankets and what not with you and it smells and feels so familiar that it helps the baby feel comfortable in the strange setting to sleep. Some babies/kids are super sensitive to their surroundings and have a hard time settling in an unfamiliar setting.
Your nursery is so cute! I love the moon and how it looks with the ladder. It definitely looks like your inspiration picture!! So excited for you. Glad you’re doing a podcast! Can’t wait
Leg cramps: I had them really bad when I was pregnant with our daughter, my gynie told me to go stand on a cold floor (we had real tiles in our bedroom so it helped a lot) that cold underneath your feet helps with that cramps so much if you can’t move as Romeo to put a cold compress or ice pack underneath your feet definitely a lifesaver
Be prepared for breastfeeding possibly not working for you, and don't blame yourself if it doesn't. It is painful and doesn't come naturally for a lot of women but the nurses won't tell you that. There are lots of options with breastfeeding that you can try and if they don't work, that's ok. As long as baby is fed and happy then it's all good. I see myself in you when I was pregnant with my daughter and I was very hard on myself when breastfeeding didn't work out. I learned later about other options later (expressing, combination feeding etc.) but it caused a lot of anxiety and I don't want you to go through that. Sending all the best wishes for you and Romeo, you will be such amazing parents!
Baby clothes tip: only untag and wash a few items from each category of sizes. One baby I had was only in newborn for a week or two and could've exchanged sizes. Second baby was premie and had no clothes her size at first and had to get more. You can always change at any baby retailer/ target and they are always pretty understanding even without receipts/girt receipts.
Crib tip: Layer waterproof pad, sheet, waterproof pad, sheet so you won't have to change bedding while half asleep.
This! This has saved my behind so many times.
Pro tip for sure
And still have a few extra for the diarrhea days and nights.
And for those days when you are too busy / tool tired to do laundry. @@Steinru73

One thing we have done for our kiddos is we put a mattress protector, then a sheet, ANOTHER mattress protector, and then ANOTHER sheet. Saves so much time when cleaning up leaks from diapers, spit up, and throw up when they’re older🙈🤢
Pottery Barn Teen Website has the perfect chandelier. It's in their Harry Potter Collection but it's so subtle and brass! I bet Romeo would love it!
That is really cool, it's an astrolabe, an ancient device used to measure the positions of the sun and stars in the sky. I also love the Hagrid's Lantern Table Lamp for the small table next to the chair she mentioned.
@@breem2999
Love the lantern, but it would take up the whole table!
So pretty!
I love it!

I think she said they’ll have a bassinet in their room, since that’s what’s recommended for the first 6 months
MaCenna, perhaps down the line for renovation could be a door from the house into the garage so weather is never an issue❤
You're probably right - lots are made that way!
Nursery is beautiful. I always love watching your videos they are so refreshing.
The nursery looks so good!! I am obsessed with the moon light 💡
7:39 I would love to see you in loose linen dresses!
Is it just me but does anyone else love it macenna goes back to Texas I don't know why but I got so excited 😂❤❤
The makeover is literally day and night. So cute ❤
Stay active it will keep your energy level up…eat healthy…just cause you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t still live life…enjoy the journey!!💕
I really think you need to take a picture of u and Romeo. You are glowing and his smile would be beautiful addition to the nursery ❤❤❤😊😊😊
The baby's room looks amazing. Wishing you a very happy days, Enjoy every minute. Sending warm hugs
Aww,seeing you go through baby cloths is so sweet.. it takes me back to when i was getting ready for my baby boy, so wonderful 💙
I absolutely LOVE the crib you picked. I was really hoping you would pick one that looked like brass! I think the theme is so adorable!
My kids were on the larger side and we brought them home in 9 month clothes. Never used any of the smaller sizes
My little one has been in newborns for 2.5months 😅 but you can always go and get stuff after
I would so highly suggest getting a wipeable changing pad (like the Skiphop grey one) - so much easier than cleaning changing pad covers. I used the same one with both babies. And my older one is 5 and younger is 1, so u know it lasts a long time!
It’s so surreal watching you in the baby nursery, remembering your past Q&As talking about having a family ❤️
You will what a Hatch nightlight/sound machine on the side table. One practical thing you def. need!!!
I hope for the baby to be as close to their parents as possible. ❤️ Greetings from Germany! 🙋🏼♀️
The nursery is so beautiful! And you look so healthy and happy. It's wonderful to see
Every time I see your downstairs bedroom I feel nostalgic. I am 72. When I was a little girl I had the same French Provincial dresser along with a matching canopy bed and vanity table that opened with a mirror and makeup storage - bedside table too! 🌸💖🌸
Anyone else notice how MaCenna’s eyes and the paint in the nursery compliment each other??? 😊So pretty
You might have already tried it and I missed it but placing the dresser under the window where the rocking chair is and putting the chair where you wanted to place the dresser. Again you might of tried it and still too big for that space. I love the nursery. Love your vision and how it came together.
waiting for kitchen reno and some update on the Texas house
Hi MaCenna, I’m very happy for you, Romeo and Kingsley for the arrival of your baby. I’m a big time planner, and I think you should consider to design a create a changing station down stairs and make room in your bedroom while you put your baby on schedule. I would love to see more vintage shopping, a more videos with your mom whenever possible.
Those outfits look so cute! And the tops rolled up are adorable!
Why not use the two drawer units from the storage wall? You could paint them to blend with the vibe of the room an add a top to unite them so they don’t shift. Not vintage but definitely using what’s available.
I used a vintage dry sink for my changing table - just an idea.
Beautiful daybeds are awesome for dwindling spaces also
I love seeing this. My baby is six months and it feels like yesterday when I was thinking about my baby's room design ❤
Because she’s 35.
Ditto! @GothGoddess 1
Totally agree with this! You can keep your water, snacks and some baby stuff within arms reach when you are feeding or holding a sleeping baby.
Deep cleaning my living room so this is just the mid day pick me up i needed girl!
I’m hoping to do a kitchen remodel and I’d love to hear your thoughts on all things kitchen related!!
I had the calf pain and it was horrible. Carry mustard packets, it is almost immediate relief. Weird but works! Marathon runners also recommend this.
Girl, l used to get horrible leg cramps during my pregnancy… make sure you stay hydrated.❤
And yes to the blog regarding viewer’s decor dilemnas!!!
We LOVED everything Hanna Andersson!!!!
The room is so stunning! And magnesium will help and relax your muscles but it’s best to take it at night before bed since it can make you sleepy. ❤ can’t wait for more baby blogs and room makeovers
Hi MaCenna! I have been watching you for years now and can I just say you are glowing mama!
I would HIGHLY suggest the peanut changer , it is a rubber that does not feel cold and is easy to wipe down , a bit pricey but SO SO SO SO SO worth it !
The Nursery is heaven! It’s absolutely beautiful. Love the cute maternity outfits/pairings but…you can see thru that dress…at least on camera.
Tonic water helps with leg cramps. It contains a tiny amount of quinine. Just drink 1/2 cup each evening as a preventative or when you get a cramp. Really helps. I keep a 1 L bottle in the frig and drink as necessary.
Look at pottery barn for kids… on the website they show sheets .
Even showed a real pale, neat looking celestial sheet .
Your "Mommy Glow" is so beautiful and bright. It just radiates around your face like a halo. Keep your glow on, GIRL✌️✌️🙌👊🎉!!
Definitely suggest a postpartum rolling storage kit for nursery and in master bedroom!
Thoughts from a physical therapist assistant...to save your back start sitting or squatting when you're picking up things from the floor.
Look for baby sleeping bags too. Ideal for when baby gets a few months old. Before crawling
The nursery is adorable. The only thing that would bother me is having the crib by a window. Is it possible to use the crib as a room divider?
The room looks so beautiful, he is a lucky baby! Where’s you mama? Haven’t heard you guys FT, lately. She must be excited.
Your nursery is so cute! I love the moon and how it looks with the ladder. It definitely looks like your inspiration picture!! So excited for you. Glad you’re doing a podcast! Can’t wait
When you get cramps in your calves lay on your back and point your toes to your nose! Instantly relieves to pain 😊
I found tonic water worked well with my calf cramps. It has quinine in it which is what helps with the cramps 😊
I appreciate your emotional intelligence and just being an all round pro in not expanding on the pool swamp drama round 2. So classy :)
Aww you look so radiance beautiful new mama. Cute outfits..Many blessings to you & hubby.
