    Bird was singing for hours through the night and several nights afterward. Have a separate audio of songs on first day of spring, march 21, 2015, but those have a lot of traffic sound from construction going on in Clearwater on US19 and didn't fit with the this more quiet and peaceful night.

    Rehabilitating an injured mockingbird and she loves this. I play it for her often and she always reacts well to it.

      that's really cool - never thought about what mockingbirds think of each other's repertoire

      @@followyourbliss101 She seems fascinated by them. Females don't sing nearly as much as males (they don't need to) so she hasn't copied much of what she hears but she has a little. I'm hoping she'll increase her repertoire as she hears more.

    Mockingbirds, my backyard friends wake me up every morning with their songs. How enchanting Mother Nature!

    Oh man, the mockingbird I'm fostering was just going absolutely crazy tonight, refusing to settle down, flying all over the room and nearly breaking her wing in the cage I'm putting her in at night.. I found this and now she's just sleeping on my shoulder.
    Thank you so much. She's 23 days old now and hopefully soon to be released, for her sake

    Truly my favorite bird. They chase each other through the branches of my loquat tree outside my window. They are so eloquent. When they are not singing their melodious soliloquies, they have a distinctive alarm song that sounds so harsh. That’s when I know a predator is near.

      For a 'bird brain' they have quite the repertoir. Also might be why they seemto have that attitude and are fesrless when chasing much larger birds.

    It is fascinating, almost hypnotic, to listen to the infinite variety. I think some Mockingbirds are more artful in their presentation than others. Some can be a little raucous, while others are more delicate. I do not hear the same pattern more than once in his repertoire. I LOVE IT!

    One summer night, very long ago, when a close friend had escaped a great danger, we heard a mockingbird crank up his pipes like this, even as the sun set and the moon rose. Such a song reminds me that sometimes mercy wins out, even for the flawed and reckless young.

    I played this outside walking around feeding my birds... mocking birds came all around me looking for the bird. Now they think I'm a mocking bird...love it. They want to land on me now.

      that's hilarious - i will have to test that myself - have they actually landed on you or just taking extra interest in you?

      that's funny - my experience has been different - i've tested this on several mockingbirds over months - most will stop singing and listen, a few will come closer to see where it's coming from and then fly away - but most seem to get upset like a challenger is pushing them off their turf and fly off after hearing it for about 5-10 seconds. so needless to say, i stopped doing that as i don't want to upset them.

    Mocking Birds are so cool... they are my friends. How in the world would anyone want to kill a mockingbird. What has this world come to? LOL Thanks, I particularly like the crickets in the background, and the night shots. I know that only young males sing at night. Blessings from the left coast.

      thanks! yes i was amazed at how well the iphone 6s mic picked up all the subtle noises - unfortunately that also included traffic a mile away and I think there was actually night construction going on too.

    I absolutely hate Mocking birds at night. I live right outside Nashville and have had many sleepless nights because of these birds!

      D P they CAN be annoying. I remember back when those aftermarket car alarms were all the rage a mockingbird had the pattern down pat. It was actually pretty funny.
      There are a lot worse things i can think of that interrupt sleep. I remember every night at my grandparents around 1-2am, the people across the street would start loudly fighting and the cops would come- so add annoying flashing lights keeping you awake.

    • @followyourbliss101

      not sure really - they're just the run of the mill mockers that i see all the time in florida

    I use this for about 5min to get rid of the mockingbird right outside my window that sounds like a beeping fire alarm when the battery is low every night all night.

    • @followyourbliss101
      @followyourbliss101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's funny - annoying, but funny this works. I remember those aftermarket car alarms that were so popular in the 90s - there was a mockingbird in my neighborhood that would go through that whole routine over and over.

    Is that a gilvus moking bird tropical???

    • @followyourbliss101
      @followyourbliss101  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow you know your birds - i had to look that up. I would guess that since this bird was in central florida, it's probably not because from what i read the gilvus tropical doesn't seem to be found that far north.
