I missed the festiuval of lights in Liverpool this year. Its an amazing spectacle and you captured its beauty well. Gotta say that everybody needs their own personal Sam. Ive had loads of advice from him helping me with Viv. Sam, you are a legend. You were right about having a plan B , Neil and saving a pot of money for van fettling and boy did that back end need fettling! Fingers crossed you get sorted and kudos to Sam for being a bloody brilliant mate. Thank you Sam for helping Neil and Emma. THIS is what being good van lifers is about. I proper love you guys and Sam and Lisa. best of luck and much respect🙏- Kenny
Hope you’re back up and running. Amazing how one job turns into many, it’s not just you , happens to me every time I start a job on the van. Safe travels. All the best. 👍🚐🐾🐾😎
Its stunning inside the cathedral. I got to go the light display was beautiful. Good to hear you have managed to get the parts needed to fix your van. Hope you are both well and the dogs are ok. 🙂Xx
Crappy system having the shoes connected to that flimsy back plate eh, guys? What a ball ache.. Those lights looked amazing btw..they'd done a brilliant job setting that all up.. 👏👏👏👏👍💜❤️💜
Yeah it’s not the best but at least we are in the best place possible to be fixed … also love the purple lights you guys have set up, looks very cosy in your house 💜
@UrbanVanlife you're in the land of the Magician of all things Crafter my friend..if he can't fix it, it ain't a crafter..lol 😂 Spent our first night, NOT in the van last night..felt a bit weird..lol The tree lights are lovely though, yes..but don't let Karen know I said so..lolol 😉👍😂😂😂 take care guys..love to you all and not forgetting Sam n Lisa too.. ❤️💜❤️
Well done Sam 👏, it pays to have good friends. Wife's car went in as loosing coolant and bill over £2000 not including 2 new tyres that are needed as I could not see where the leak was coming from so new thermostat and housing, water pump, cracked expansion tank and new hoses. Advise that air con pump needs replaced as not working. Thankfully it was not a cylinder head gasket. Thankfully this was found before you went on your travels. All the best Drew & Linda 🏴
Thanks guys, honestly can’t thank Sam and Lisa for all they have done to help us these last few days! Genuinely awesome friends, we are lucky to have the friends we have in life 🥰
Hope you get the van fixed soon guys and it isn't too expensive 😮 looks like you are at the best place at Sam and Lisa's to undertake the replacement 😉👍 ... love to everyone 😘🤗❤👵🏾🐾🐾🐾🤠 xxxx
Aaaww thanks van fam!!! Sourced the correct parts this morning and now we await delivery and Sam and Lisa have been amazing, couldn’t ask for better friends!!! ♥️♥️
My back plates were actually worse than yours 😂 we only went to replace discs and pads in Spain and had to drive back without a handbrake we couldn't get anyone to sort it without wants about £2000 😮 getting the caliper sliders out back home was probably the hardest job 😂
Ooh err! Just in time!! Don’t hold Sam up too much, he’s on his countdown to departure preparations😅 Saying goes ‘with friends like you, who nee………… forget I said that😂
Oh no!!! I’m so so sorry Emma & Neil!!! Feel absolutely gutted for you both!! Really hope you’re able to source the correct half shafts & they are reasonably priced 🙏🤞 I’m sure you’re planning too, but I’d definitely change the oil in the diff as it could be contaminated from the wear of the splines. Best couple on TH-cam!!! Thank you so much for a brilliant video as always, just feel absolutely gutted for you both!! I guess on a positive note, if it was going to let you down it couldn’t have happened in a better place. Top man Sam ❤️ All the best to you both and your beautiful fur babies ❤️❤️🙏🤞
We had already bought the diff oil as we were going to change it out after this job anyway as we know it hasn’t been done so yes you are correct!!! Just sourced the correct parts and now we wait for delivery, thanks for the lovely comment!
@ Thank you very much Emma. That’s brilliant news!! Really hope the parts arrive quickly for you 🙏🤞 Fair play, i thought you both would knowing how thorough you are with maintenance. Can’t wait for the next video. I always thoroughly enjoy your videos. Take care all of you ❤️🙏🤞

Hi neil and Emma 🤔 just us 2 saying 😀 hopefully you have fixed .den and Sue 👍 🇬🇧 🚌
It’s one of those things and when we have taken a moment to look at it after the initial shock of it we are lucky to have found it instead of it causing an accident
Surprised Sam didn't put you straight that the handbrake shoes do not "basically attach to that medieval design" ..... the handbrake wouldn't work too well if that was the case.😅 The back plate is there simply to protect the brake components. Also, if the replacements aren't genuine VW, you will be doing the same job again in a few years as aftermarket ones are 💩 and paper thin. Try TPS for the half shafts, they should be able to give you a quote based on the registration/VIN number of the van... or hopefully the part number for the ones hou need if their price is a bit too eye watering.. Good luck. 👍.
Is the TV series your thinking of is it the Time Tunnel. The joys of motoring unfortunately maintenance always seems to fix one thing and another one appears . Hope you get it sorted all the best.
Oh no!!😱...I`d be sick as a small hospital..... As a mechanic I feel your pain, I hope that with Sam`s help you can locate the correct half shafts and bearings...Btw the light show was spectacular. Best of luck Karl & Martina in Cork
@UrbanVanlife That shape Crafter is a Mercedes sprinter 906. The previous model was too. made in the same factory as the Sprinter, only a few parts, including the engine and the paint colour are VW. Hope you managed to get the shafts. 👍

Hope you managed to get the shafts. 👍
Yer they should arrive tomoror .
We did the truma upgrade about a year ago and as it’s good for adjusting the temp etc in the van would be good to have an internet capable one
It’s a good bit of kit to be fair, especially as we can warm the van up before we get in 😆😆
@ how can you do that if it’s only Bluetooth or is yours internet capable or Wi-Fi
@ I am really intrigued now as mine might be Wi-Fi capable and never used it all this time
Just nip to any motor factors. I just googled it and every single one had them in stock. It’s also about a 20 min job. Hardly stranded.
Every single motor factors has crafter half shafts . And I think it’s a little bit longer than 20 min mate .
Jack van up
Take wheel off
Take rear breaks off caliper
Take caliper hanger off
Back off hand break
Take off break disk
Remove inner pads for hand break
Remove 4 bolts holding shaft in
Then remove shaft
Clean every thing
Then replace new drive shaft and put back together
X2 and your saying 20 min 🤔
Hope you get it sorted soon.
Parts have just been ordered … now we wait!!
@@UrbanVanlife Mint i hope they get the parts to you super fast.
Hope you can get it sorted asap do you think all that rusting was because you drove through all that sea water to get to that island ??
Hi ya, no we think it is because they are 11 years old and when they have taken them out they have been out previous and someone put silicon in there for some ungodly reason
Hate to break this news but its cheaper to buy tea & biscuits yourself instead of sabotaging the van to eat someone else's..shameful 😂
We always bring snacks with us …. If we didn’t there would be a lot more drama trust me 😂😂😂

Thanks for the question and to answer, no we haven’t been in a nice hotel, we where still exactly where we have been for the past 6 months, but I’ll run through what I can remember as we have always been transparent here, but I’m sure I’ll miss some things out.
We have been to multiple places over the past few weeks Liverpool, Southport, Crosby, Wigan, Preston, Lincolnshire to name a few. But also came down with bad colds and coughs, and after spending a night in a car park where a couple of other vans had beef with each other, we booked into a campsite for a few nights in Southport to top up batteries (both in van and ourselves), get washing done and rest etc, and whilst on the campsite got invites to a hog roast and we even entered into their Christmas festivities and won their charity raffle which the prize was a donation to our charity of choice, so it went to a local animal rescue centre, which I think they posted on their socials, we also waited for deliveries to the Morrisons in Southport as they have Amazon lockers, while there and we also did a live stream from our van at the campsite for our Facebook group to win a power bank, as the giveaway before that was for our TH-cam channel and we like everyone to be able to get a chance to win something.
