As a birmingham fan I'm loving this. 6 weeks ago everyone was noshing him off for winning a couple of games and rooney was parading around doing interviews and getting in the public eye
I keep in saying that. People say he can be successful at Plymouth. Not every great player can be successful as manager. Look at Gerrard, Lampard just started at Coventry and it was 2-2 at home vs Cardiff. Plymouth finished 19 or 20th last season and it'll be the same this season. Plymouth owner was impressed with Rooney when he was interviewed. I wonder what's he thinking now!🙅
I was at the game as a City fan and my take is that Plymouth are a really poor outfit. The blame will fall at the managers feet but the reality is that most of their players aren't Championship players and it shows. They seemed to be scared of having the ball at their feet. I agree with Rooney's assessment. Plymouth dug in but once we got on top of them, with real purpose, second half the Plymouth players wilted. After the first goal they were worse. The club won't have the funds to better the squad either which ultimately means they won't stay in the Championship. Mourinho couldn't keep this lot up. Their best hope is that there are 3 teams who are worse in the division come May.
You are right about the players not being good enough. But Rooney is at fault as well. His tactics are none existent and doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.
True but for an inexperienced championship side they are still in the mix. These rich celebrity managers don't need to worry about failure for which they are richly rewarded. Its us poor fans.... Come February, send for Warnock.
Sympathy for the fans but not an ounce for the pathetic owners who knew full well what would happen . The publicity in hiring Rooney was more important than the future of the club .
Rooney was on a hiding to nothing taking on this job, The club just escaped relegation last year. The club run on a small budget, the location of the club makes it difficult to attract talent. Everything is stacked against him. However... I said at the time of his appointment Argyle will 100% get relegated under his stewardship. He is not a good Manager.
Waiting for Cundy to brown nose about how Rooney needs to be praised and recognised for being so brave to take a job... "he doesnt need to do it" "its in his blood" ... how many more sh eety performances, how many teams getting flushed you need see? Being a manager is not for him...stop kissing his ar se TalkSport.
“The players don’t look like they know what they’re doing” is exactly what it was like at Birmingham. Poor coaching/communication. Every other manager we had that season got something of a tune out of the same squad. Throwing players under the bus is another common denominator. He clearly hasn’t learned a thing. I hope Plymouth fans see some improvement soon.
He's finally been rumbled. I''ve read he hasn't been home for a while, i think he'll be playing Chris Rea's 'Driving home for christmas' and won't be going back in the new year.
He has the nerve to blame the players. He doesnt have a plan B when things are going wrong. When he was at my club Birmingham he looked completely clueless. We never really recovered even after he left because the players confidence was rock bottom. Plymouth need to get rid before its to late.
No shame in losing too Bristol City at Ashton Gate lads, they are a good young energetic side, with a very bright coach. Many sides have struggled too get any sort of result there this season, and City are genuine play off contenders, if they keep up the positivity and take their chances, so clinically. 🙏🙏
This is exactly how it went at Birmingham, after his first couple of losses he started blaming the players, lost the dressing room and things went downhill very quickly . I hope Plymouth survive but I hope its without Rooney, he may have been a good player but he's no manager.
🇬🇧 As a Plymouth Argyle fan , I say it's Argyles Chairman fault not putting his hand in his pocket 😡 not ROONEY. Get rid of the team , because the only 2 players that is that the Argyle team I Joe Edwards and Mumba, we fell apart when Finn and Dan left . Put there hand in there pocket and buy new fantastic players. Keep Wayne, it's not his fault. 🇬🇧
@morrisanderson3180 I think give him to the end of next year .... if we are going to get relegated now what difference if we sack him now , and who or could replace him to save us mate ??
A low budget team with relegation standard players concede 10 in 2 away games... One of the world's best teams, Man City, have just conceded 7 in 2 home games... Not a total disaster. Had it not involved Rooney, this wouldn't even be mentioned.
That's an interesting take. In reality the main problem at Plymouth is lack of funding and I think that the owner's reason for bringing in Rooney was more about publicity to attract investors. That is certainly being achieved. May go down anyway but I think that was likely whoever the manager was.
@adcollesp exactly. Relegation was always a major possibility whoever was brought in with the funding or lack of funding available. We also know their home form will be what gives them hope of survival, not their away form, as with any struggling team.
You can look at certain players, and hear them in interviews, and it’s clear they have an appreciation of the game tactically. I never saw that with Rooney. Others you can see have motivational skills and can squeeze effort out of mundane players. Again there’s no sign of that with Rooney. Sadly, for both himself and Plymouth, there’s no likelihood of this working.
If they had lost by 4 to a lower placed side then it would be bad but getting it off Bristol City's current side is not a shock, not long back they outplayed Boro. Ps Nuno had a dream, to build an England team Scoring goals and never looking back We're on the attack N E S has got our back Were England We're on the attack 4 nil 5 nil 6 nil
I cant stand Jason kissing up so so much to Rooney and Gerrard that they need be praised for trying to do a job... somehow he is is not praising other managers who are near bottom 3...or almost getting sacked from Saudi 😂😂
The ONLY time Rooney will win and score will be with an "old" brass ..!!!!! Yes as a footballer he was good..BUT..as a manager and pundit.... he couldn't draw or win with a pro..
It’s been mentioned numerous times he’s not a nice guy first of all and most of all does zero coaching doesn’t even know all the players names and his coaches pick the team he almost has no involvement in anything has be spoken about like 7 - 8 times!
bcfc fan here he will destroy your season away from home your shocking no way id pay to see them away get smashed then have the manager slag all the players off
They seem to have friends in high places apparently the director of plymouth knows rooney from his Everton days probably same for lampard have the right connection s and get jobs based on their name
