I've said it before somewhere, but this tree is fantastic - it inspired me to buy several babies from a nursery in FL - mine are growing indoors for winter, of course, but this summer they get to spend in a cheapie greenhouse - I hope they grow like mad this year.

Hey Veer, thank you so much for your kind words. I just pull the leaves off, I never had a problem with die back. I do it when it is warmer and the night temps are above 70 Fahrenheit. You could experience dieback because the tree might not be strong enough to handle defoliation. Only defoliate when your tree is very healthy. If you are not sure if the tree is strong enough, defoliate the same time you repot.

I have waited for this Brazilian tree update as you planned it early January,did you scrape the outer bark of the tree to make it look like the " shari " of the Japanese bonsai tree? I like the shape of the trunk, did you wire it when it was still a little tender one?

I am now nursing it through the winter up here with just light from my patio door. Would it grow a lot faster if I get a set of LED grow lights or does it really take the more intense summer sun to get it into gear? Last summer it never really started to grow until about July when it started to heat up a bit here.

Kevin Gondola you can only defoliate very healthy trees and do a full defoliation not just a couple leaves. If you pulled off a couple leaves only, your tree died for another reason

Terrible music levels, you should try better, use normalization for your voice and adapt music levels, you can for example use Audacity (free) to create perfect audiotracks for your videos - as it is now I consider it as torture.

Awesome video! When you repotted did you use a tool to push the new substrate into the root mass? Or did you put it on the bottom and the top only?
Chopstick was used to push the new aggregate in and around the rootball.

Hi Susan, It depends on the climate and specie. I a tropical climate it takes about two weeks.
