Person who hasn't played Deltarune hearing The Circus: "If I heard this in a dark room I would shit myself" Person who has played Deltarune hearing The Circus: "If I heard this in a dark room I would shit myself"
I know you said you wouldn’t on your Undertale playthrough, but it would be so amazing to watch you play Deltarune. Seeing how much you loved Undertale and how Deltarune’s music is really growing on you, it really helps to know context and such
I loved how everytime he tried to start talking about the song he just heard, and then the next song is like "NO, its time to be shocked by ME" Without loops and/or fade-outs they can really take you by surprise!
Fun fact about My Castle Town, in case anyone didn't know: This entire song is made with the Spitfire LABS Soft Piano. Which is a free sample library. If you're looking into making music, it's definitely a good tool to have in your arsenal.
Vs. Susie kills me every time. She's trying so hard to act like betrayal isn't hitting her hard, enough that she reverts to her older coping mechanism- violence. The entire time I'm just thinking, _STOP, you DON'T WANT THIS, NEITHER OF YOU WANTS THIS_ but it KEEPS GOING. she's struggling.
Im glad someone else notices the tone of desperation in Vs Susie. It sounds somewhat like she's pleading for the fight to stop. It's an amazing touch by Toby Fox. Susie is my favourite character by far
I’ve always loved the theme because it sounds like someone is beating you with a crowbar but they really don’t want to. The only thing keeping it from my top 3 is that it’s painfully short.
nobody wants this fight to commence. but Susie hates herself, and she thinks this is what bad people do, so she does it. And the player is begging her to stop, but there nothing we can do without Kris. So some of us just sit there, some of us actively run into the bullets, some try to help Susie, but no matter what, she keeps going. Until Lancer stops. And she finally figures it out.
@@grayanddevpdxit's the feeling of yelling at someone who's hurting themselves to STOP, but they're determined to keep going, at their own detriment and the detriment of others. She's hurting so badly, and there's nothing we can do to stop her.
You know a soundtrack is great when the guy can be listening to it for nearly two hours and is still humming along near the end. Toby Fox's songs are so varied but are always such bops, glad you had fun! :D 30:03 How?? The hell did he spot on predict the situation???? For anyone that doesn't know, during this scene you play as a character who feels they've been betrayed by a close friend and are lashing out. 31:35 And then he just, completely off the mark with Rouxls Kaard. xD He tried though, it was cool enough with one good guess.
@@Elaniden I think that has to do with the difference in communities we hang around in. I haven’t seen a new Christopher Moon comment since I got into the Undertale/Deltarune community. Only the old ones.
I love Susie's intro theme so much, wish it showed up more often in-game. Despite how simple it is, it gets Susie's character across so perfectly. The harsh guitar tones tell you she's not very nice and that she's very intimidating, but the way they fade out slowly speaks to me of a deep loneliness. As if maybe she's only acting this way for her own protection.
There was no better feeling for me than hearing Fields of Hopes and Dreams for the very first time blind when the game launched. Back when nobody knew what this game even was called, but the track felt like welcoming back an old friend.
@@sandtheunderman3 months late, but it's literally called "Field of Hopes and Dreams" in the official soundtrack album and "The Field of Hopes and Dreams" in game when it first starts playing
It was so funny when you said at 30:00 that maybe "the fight doesn't want to be happening" and that might be why the song was pulled back a bit because that is absolutely correct. I don't know how you manage to guess it every time!!
52:04 Your cover of “Don’t Forget” made me cry. I love your Toby Fox soundtrack reviews. Your predictions about each scene based on the music alone are so accurate.
Just to clear a thing up because everyone is confused. Toby Fox has said that Deltarune is set in a different universe, with possibly different rules, and characters who have lived different lives - however, it is connected to Undertale in some way, enough so that he recommends playing Deltarune after Undertale. It's in a weird place of not being a direct sequel, but also not being entirely a separate thing. I just thought that was important to mention if you do want to play Deltarune eventually. Also fun stream. Love Hometown Day.
In short, I see it kind of like how the Final Fantasy games aren't actually connected but share terms and ideas to be recognizable motifs. Every Cid is their own different person, but they all share a common trait of being an expert with machines.
@@spheromancer_ wonder how will that be pulled off, since deltarune is obviously not set before Undertale because characters are older than in Undertale (Asriel in college, also alive, monster kid is no longer monster kid and is now monster teen, we are a teenager instead of a kid tho we're different characters) unless it's some going across realities the player is doing and this isn't the only reality we're gonna be going to in the Undertale canon multiverse
I think it could even be compared to the interaction between base Outer Wilds and Echoes of the Eye DLC. You can enjoy the DLC without knowing a thing about the base storyline, but if you have completed the game before, you are going to pick up on and make sense of much more things in the DLC
There is something I kinda wanna say about Darkness Falls, as it's not _just_ game over music, as chat says, when it plays is just a little more specific. It plays when you are at the game over screen, and you say [ NO ] to continuing. I really feel that is specifically what makes it special, for me at least, it's a sort-of quiet acceptance of failure, giving up and closing the game.
Man i can't believe i miss this stream by 2 days, i missed golden quotes like 37:34 "If i hear this in a dark room i will shied myself" Also glad you enjoyed this deltarune song stream, the songs are like an experimental branching of undertale while retaining some parts that make undertale great, and the game itself is a mirror to that, even if you aren't planning on streaming the game i do recommend playing it
Honestly, I respect your decision to play Deltarune when its finished. Just so you get all the story in one. I love the idea! Granted, thats probably gonna be...2031? It seems he is finishing a chapter every 2 years (I know, 1 to 2 was 3 years, but a year or more of that was finding a new engine so hush). So if you do go through with that, I must congradulate you because you are patient, but it will hopefully be worth it!
the full game will likely be significantly sooner than 2031, maybe even sooner than 2028. The injury to his hands that he had during development of chapter 2 has gotten a bit better, which means he can use it more often as long as he is careful. Keep in mind, the time between chapter 1 and 2 wasn't just testing out a new engine, it was also writing out the plan for all the future chapters (which makes all the chapters after chapter 2 significantly faster to make), but also slowly but surely gathering more team members to make work more efficient. He has also announced that chapters 3, 4, and 5 are all going to be released at the same time and that each individual chapter will probably be smaller (and that chapter 2 will be the largest chapter out of the first 5 chapters), and he has also confirmed that chapter 3 is basically finished except for adding the Japanese translation. Even though these little boosts seem small, all these things add up to making it seem like we might get the full game a lot sooner than most people might think!! I still highly respect Marco's patience, though. Waiting just for over a year for the next chapter to release after playing through chapter 2 has already been pretty hard for me, I can't imagine what it would be like waiting probably triple or quadruple that amount of time if it weren't for the wonderful small tidbits we've been getting to tide us over while we wait (like the deltarune newsletter and spamton sweepstakes)
@@youngjellyfish8694 While a lot of this is true, if Chapter 3 is one of those smaller chapters..it still has took approximately 2 years development. Assuming he hasn't working on 4 or 5 (which I know they have a bit), it's still about 2 years for these as well if Chapter 3 took this long. I wanna be hopeful and say its gonna be shorter, but this gap from 2 to 3 with a "shorter chapter" has me a bit fearful.
@@SteveyBobJoe101 he has been giving constant updates both on the deltarune website and with the newsletter about this (if you aren’t signed up, and are interested in getting seasonal info about deltarune and other Toby-fox related stuff, I’d highly recommend it, since that is where I’m getting a lot of my info from) but he and his team has been working on all of the chapters, but focusing most of development on chapters 3 and 4. He is trying to space development relatively evenly between chapters 3 and 4. So if it has been stated that chapter 3 is almost entirely done other than a few tiny details and the translation, it’d be pretty fair to assume that chapter 4 is very far along in development (maybe somewhere in between the 80% to 90% completion range?). I also don’t see why having chapters 3, 4, and 5 be smaller than chapter 2 would be worrying. Chapter 2 was a very bulky chapter in comparison to chapter 1 even though chapter 1 was already quite large for a single chapter, so I don’t see what would be bad about any of the future chapters being the same size as chapter 1. And again, I’d like to point out that he now has a larger team… as someone who really likes to follow the development of video games, I’ve noticed that the difference between 2 to 4 coders in comparison to 5 to 10 on an indie team is astronomical. Something that a few coders can achieve in 5 years can sometimes be achieved with just 1 or 2 extra people in less than half the time. While this isn’t always the case, it’s still a pretty good indicator that things are going very, very well.
@@youngjellyfish8694 Oh, when I said something was worrying, I meant chapter 3 taking 2 years. Them being smaller is fine, saying Chapter 2 was massive! Also, knowing they're working on 3 and 4 together makes me feel better. I'm already signed up for the newsletter (highest tier even), but I've never really seen anything Chapter 4 related so I thought nothing was started. Guess I need to check the website more often! I also thought this larger team worked on Chapter 2 as well, but knowing they didn't is a bit nice so now I know the other chapters should be shorter in development time as well. I can kinda see the 2028 full release now, seems pretty reasonable now with some of this added information, so thanks!! 😁
@@SteveyBobJoe101 yeah!! I'm super hyped for the next few chapters! Im glad that i could give ya a bit of hope and hopefully cleared up a few things!! It was nice talking with ya! i hope you have a wonderful day.
the way your face changed when you recognized some of the leitmotifs from the previous game was great, extra powerful from playing the previous game and understanding the where and why of them! wow i never noticed the evangelion bit before but 100% its there
It's a crime that it barely plays in-game! i wonder if toby will give an update that makes it so you could hear the song for longer when future chapters release
32:38 - This piece sounds like it came from Paper Mario: the Origami King because of this segment - it uses one of the central motifs of that game. Different musicians occasionally have very similar ideas!
Deltarune is more like an alternate universe from Undertale (the idea for Deltarune even came before that of Undertale, iirc) and their stories aren't directly connected, but as you may have heard, you'll still hear some familiar tunes
Loved how your face immediately scrunched up, concentrated on picking up those leitmotifs, I literally did the same thing when I heard the OST first out of context 😂 Gosh I ESPECIALLY lost my mind at Big Shot, what an amalgamation of motifs!!! That song also kinda became the new Megalovania in the fandom, with the extra bit that there's a voice in it that we've spent months trying to isolate for a secret- but I won't say what it is, mostly cause we don't know what it says exactly yet lol It'd be awesome for you to play Deltarune, but honestly no pressure. The rest of the game might take years to come out anyways 😅
Not sure if someone has said it but the track from 1:42:40 is almost a 8bit version of the song ''74'' by Itoki hana & toby fox, he himself sings in the song and it has a very interesting story☺ There's a small motiv of the song at the start of one of the main tracks in the game , with a more fast paced tune
the thing about "Empty town" cuz its only have one major sound, and that is the humming, if you dont know. when in battle, ralsei can use "sing" in act to put asleep enemies. if you listen closely, "empty town" and ralsei's "sing" have the same sound sample. its indicating that "Empty town" is personally singed by Ralsei. and as ralsei said, he's been lonely for so long. it possible that to fill his loneliness, he's singing "Empty town" while waiting for the heroes to arrive.
Deltarune's variety is what I love most about it. You want a pump-up boss theme? Got it. Something slower, more emotional? Yup, it's here. Electronic adventure jam? You know it. Little bit of everything in here.
I love how you get music in the way that you do, UNDERSTANDING the piece more than just "this sounds nice" 30:01 Even if you might be wrong, you inject your thoughts and ideas into the video, love it!
The madman actually up and listened to the OST before the rest of the chapters released. Also yeah, as you noticed, Now's Your Chance To Be A, as well as BIG SHOT are just Dummy! but with notes switched around (that, and BIG SHOT straight up having the direct leitmotifs twice).
1:24:15 Lost girl is one of those tracks on this playlist thats so different from the others. Its not playful, or grandiose. Its melancholic, mornful even. At the moment I type this, we still dont know all the story, but I have a feeling this theme will become an integral one to one of the main character's story arch.
I was watching live but I fell asleep RIGHT before Berdly/Smart Race which are two of my absolute favorites so now I return to make the rest of my way through lmao
Glad you're liking the music! As many people have likely said, Deltarune is an adjacent world to Undertale but I wouldn't worry too much about that aspect, because even the lore analysis side of the community is a bit stumped on that front. The one thing we do know for sure is that it won't at all change the events of Undertale narratively, so you can go into it whenever you're ready knowing that your ending for undertale characters in that universe won't be affected. You might get intimidated by the amounts of years people are throwing out for when it'll be fully complete, I'd give it about 5 years or so personally. I don't think it'll go past 7 years tbh, it's already more than halfway finished with the hardest parts out of the way already according to the team themselves. I'd expect the next bundle of chapters to come out this year from what's been teased by Toby himself, and after that it probably won't take longer then 4-5 years to get the last chapters out. Still a long time to wait, but likely not a whole decade. I will say as someone who's been in both the Undertale and Deltarune fandom side of things respectively, Deltarune's community has matured a lot in comparison which is nice because there's less people who will try and backseat (it's also not a backseaty type game for the most part really in comparison to Undertale at least so less worries about that in general).
BIG SHOT really comes in with Now's Your Chance to Be A, Metaton NEO, and The World Revolving, then just for good measure smacks you in the face with Mad Dummy at the end.
Not to mention all of Spamton's themes are literally just Dummy! rearranged to sound like an original track. Probably to reperesent the fact that that he's just a puppet to a higher force.
Man I've been waiting for you to listen to Deltarune's soundtrack for the longest of time. So glad you finally did it. Toby Fox sure does know his stuff when it comes to music.
54:24 Hearing this was really nice to hear. Its so simple, but I dunno man? It made me feel hopeful and remind myself that all success has to start somewhere. I really love the gentleness in your music reactions and all your videos. Thanks for being a "Filled with Determination" save point Marco.
30:16 in response to this, once you play the game and get the context of what the song is tied to, it becomes a lot more solid for what’s conveyed, especially when in each sequence the tracks play out more. It really is a great game, Toby knows how to make tracks that tie everything nicely together, and hopefully once it’s done you’ll get to enjoy the experience, I would suggest maybe playing once Chapter 5 is released, there’s 7 in total ❤
It’s actually “Power Of NEO” mettaton NEO’s theme. it’s the same leitmotif, but you can tell the one BIG SHOT uses is Mettaton NEO’s theme because it uses the same instruments. (And because of the NEO in the title obviously)
Having the ability to read a game's scenery and story just through the knowledge of its different tunes is honestly such an admirable ability, got nothing but respect for you
Quick note: the playlist you're listening to is kinda weird for Chapter 2. It cuts a lot of the songs in the 2nd half of the Chapter 2 OST short, and some others aren't looped properly. For example, the song "HEY EVERY !" is supposed to loop, but it just plays once.
Nothing makes me feel more at home and with like-minded people here on this channel. It overjoys me when you catch parts of a song you love only for me to get excited that I caught the same thing and im not alone in the way i listen to music. Thank you sir and fanbase really excited to go to the back catalogue of videos
Both Undertale and Deltarune using power of leitmotifs, connecting songs between each other. For Chapter 1 of Deltarune the main motif is called "Don't Forget", just like song. You can notice it in different places. And also another revolving motif in the game - Gaster's theme.
I'd like to share a random fact about the second to last song you heard from Chapter 1's OST, "Before the Story" That music is actually the Title Screen music. What you would hear every time you start up the game. Right after "The Legend", anyway. But in the OST, The Legend and Before The Story are in odd places. In particular, Before the Story is at the very end of the OST, only before Dogcheck, which is the error theme. This isn't a mistake, but is completely intentional. Deltarune Chapter 1 was an oddity during its release. When you play it for the first time, you don't get the title screen. You don't even get the title screen after starting the game multiple times. You're just given a generic save select screen and continue where you left off. You actually don't unlock the opening cutscene or the title screen until after you have completed one of the chapters. (If I recall correctly, you can jump straight into chapter 2 without having played chapter 1 but this is superbly not recommended for a first time playthrough) Before The Story is the final song you hear from the first chapter, and as such it's the last song in the OST. There is some context to this that you might not get when deciding to play the game yourself, so I'll keep this brief. Deltarune originally released as a program on the official Undertale Twitter with the name "SURVEY_PROGRAM" by a mysterious figure who was operating the twitter at the time. I don't think it was advertised specifically as a game and Toby wanted people to believe it was related to Undertale, so he made particular design choices at the beginning that have confused many people who played Deltarune after it was released on consoles.
Dang, one of the tracks at the end does not show up in the version of the ost i listen to, re-hearing it again here made it clear the effort they went through to make it creepier, and even familiar to another track
It’s worth noting that since Undertale became so famous, the budget was increased by a ludicrous amount. So Toby has access to loads more soundfonts and editing tools as well as guest artists in Deltarune. (It’s especially noticeable in the visuals if you ever end up playing the game but apparent in the music as well, he never had that clarinet or that hard guitar sound effects before) Also, only 2 chapters are out now so it’s hard to form solid theories but a disproportionate number of songs on this ost are waltzes it’s almost weird and like it’s trying to prove a point. Not enough of the game is out to get any conclusions for that tho
man i've always wondered how they make music sound "empty" while still having a nice melody. that explanation about the space between the notes made so much sense! i'm gonna be looking out for that from now on whenever i listen to music 😂
Ive been practicing singing this past couple month. I enjoyed humming with you. You have such a beautiful voice i wished to reach to one day. Or at least thats what i want to strive for. Good video!
52:50 Before The Story always hits different for me compared to the rest of soundtrack, I already got so happy hearing Once Upon a Time back in Beginning, but when I heard it in Before The Story, I started crying, dude, even if it wasn't actually made for Deltarune, it still just hit so damn hard hearing that familiar motif again
You can always come home 46:35 made me appreciate how long its been since i first heard the original «Home» in Undertale, and really made me feel how even though i’ve changed a lot since then, this hasn’t. Not emotionally.
what's really neat about Don't Forget is that Laura Shigihara is the one singing! (she wrote the PVZ1 OST and was the singing sunflower in "Zombies on Your Lawn" )
I'm really happy that you decided to give the ost a listen, it's full of bangers and several surprises. Obviously the tracks are even better in context but even without it you can still appreciate Toby Fox's work :) You keep mentioning that you want to play deltarune after it's fully out and I completly understand you but there are some unfortunate problems with it. First of all you are missing out on amazing content but more importantly, you are going to wait a REALLY long time for next chapters to release. I think chapters 3-5 which are supposed to come out together are somewhat close ( maybe the end of this year or during 2024 ) but then there's likely going to be another 2 years of waiting. Don't worry though, you have a lot of time to decide and I know that there are other games you want to try out so don't feel pressured 👍
Honestly I don't see Deltarune's full release date being any time before 2030. You may choose to wait until then, but I do feel that each chapter can easily be experienced alone. Could be easier to take in and remember things as well that way. No pressure for anything though, you choose to do exactly as you want. I mostly just wanted to inform you about how things are.
I don't think so. Toby explained the reson chapter 2 took so long beacouse he was testing other engines for the game. Also Toby has a small team that will help him with making the game.
@@TheWitnessedd Chapter 3 is already taking 2 years itself you know. With a planned 7 chapters, and let's say an estimated 2 years between each chapter, you wouldn't see the full release until 2031. If they speed up releases to 1 year between each chapter after Chapter 3 comes out, you might see the full release at around 2027.
@@TheWitnessedd he stated that he’s in the translation stage for chapter 3, chapter 4 & 5 aren’t being focused on, so I think the release date would either be late 2023 to September 2024. Of course, there’s always the possibility that it could take longer which is totally fine!
@@BobRoss-nj9et It was already stated long ago not long after the release of ch2 that 3, 4 and 5 would all be coming out alongside each other. So, assuming development is close to done on 3 it is likely close to finished on 4 and 5 too.
LOVE seeing yourreaction as always! hearing you sing along is delightful too, your voice is gorgous! also incredible on how you picked up on all the themes of the music so accurately AGAIN x3 cant wait until deltarune is done to watch you experience it! even the rest of us dont know whats in store yet but if its anything like undertale (and it already is) we're in for a good time
1:19:59 Pandora Palace will always give me Scooby Doo vibes 🤭 . Like when the guys are chasing the monster, and everyone runs through doors and it's a big mess
I just want to say at 30:00 when you were talking about Vs. Susie you were spot on, im really impressed! Edit: Just kept watching and saw that your chat told you you were right, still thought I would keep the comment though, keep up great work!
I love how the amalgamates song and Spamton's songs are the only songs in both Undertale and Deltarune that go around the listeners head when using headphones, it fits the moment and feels off and out of this world, like something is not right, Toby is a genius for doing this, this enhances the gameplay experience quite a bit
Jevil’s themes also do this. For example, there’s one instrument spinning around the listener almost the entire time during The World Revolving. And quite a few of the other themes in the game do this effect as well in more subtle ways, in both games.
24:58 "Annoying dog" is a running gag in Undertale community. It's a character present in both games, which is basically Toby Fox inesrting himself into the games.
LET'S GOOOOO, I WAS HYPED FOR THIS, I can't wait to see you play this and be excited for the next chapters along with the community oh I see you are gonna play Deltarune when it's finished, that's gotta be 2025 or 2026, or maybe 2027 then, or maybe you will play it before it's finished, which I recommend since the amount of information, lore, mysteries and theories are at an all time high because of Ch 1, Ch 2 and Undertale
Hey there, completely unrelated to the actual game or its plot relevance thereof, but girl next door about at 57:50 I feel perfectly overlays with "You reposted in the wrong neighborhood"(which itself is a meme crafted from 2 other songs) disconcertingly well, down to the choice in delays and syncopation
Oh and what scares me about it is the possibility that it isn't just in my head, because Toby as displayed that he is more than happy to reference in music and in game alike that he enjoys referencing cheeky and by today's standard, extremely outdated and cheesy old memes
1:25:28 "It felt like the last song was about someone who passed away or someone who was misunderstood." My man does not miss with the predictions, holy moly.
@@ZeDoctorful I know thats a joke but chapter 3 is basically finished and chapter 4 and 5 is 60% done (each) so assuming that takes 3 years then assuming that chapter 6 and 7 takes 4 years (which is unlikely because chapter 2 took long because toby was making the text boxes for EVERY single chapter) also nice omega flowey pfp
shoutouts to the person in chat who said "overrated song" at Field of Hopes and Dreams, "overrated song #2" at "A CYBER'S WORLD?", and then "overrated song #2" AGAIN at "Pandora Palace" truly a person of wisdom
Wait is it me or did he miss one? I don't know the name but it plays a couple of times during the Weird Route I think, like when Noelle is reflecting on Kris in the hospital (and asks about her watch if you equip it)
To this day everytime i listen to Big Shot and it gets to the World Revolving segment. for whatever reason it feels like im locked in place and cant move and i start intensely staring into nothing. its a really odd feeling that i dont get very much of. its bolth concerning and neat
It does give off this feeling of an out of body experience. Casually drifting while the songs of the past merge together to give some illegible hint about the future. Before you can take it all in, it cuts right back to Spamtons motif, grounding you back to reality.
I can also greatly recommend playing Deltarune even if it may not be something quite as great as Undertale as Toby Fox himself once stated. And Toby Fox also stated that he and his team couldn't finish chapter 3 to 5 last year, so maybe we will get to see something this year? By the way it's a real pleasure to listen to the Deltarune soundtracks again.
"Ill play Deltarune when it's finished" seeya in 10 years T_T Your choice is yours in the end but I will say, it's been a blast making theories, discussing the game, and keeping up with Toby's extremely fun updates in between each chapter, I think playing it as it comes out is maybe 15% of the fun. That said again, it's up to you!

Fun fact about My Castle Town, in case anyone didn't know: This entire song is made with the Spitfire LABS Soft Piano. Which is a free sample library. If you're looking into making music, it's definitely a good tool to have in your arsenal.

Another fun fact about My Castle Town: it was teased in the 5th Year Anniversary Undertale Concert where Toby Fox played it at the end
"Susie doesn't seem like a positive person"
You hit the nail on the head.
At least, at first, yeah
Vs. Susie kills me every time. She's trying so hard to act like betrayal isn't hitting her hard, enough that she reverts to her older coping mechanism- violence. The entire time I'm just thinking, _STOP, you DON'T WANT THIS, NEITHER OF YOU WANTS THIS_ but it KEEPS GOING. she's struggling.
she just. she hates herself. and I hate that
@dailyfangirl69 so do i!! that's why it's no painful to see her return to hating herself!
[15:11] THERE IS A [[Dog]] RIGHT NEXT TO ME WHAT WHERE DID THIS [Dog] COME FROM!?!?!?

30:03 How?? The hell did he spot on predict the situation???? For anyone that doesn't know, during this scene you play as a character who feels they've been betrayed by a close friend and are lashing out.

Idk, I agree to a degree, but instead of protection it gives me more of a "Don't touch and you won't be bitten" vibe
she really thinks of herself as evil, and so she makes herself evil.
There was no better feeling for me than hearing Fields of Hopes and Dreams for the very first time blind when the game launched.

Thank you for your sweet words :)
Just about to say that
My theory since the start has been that it will turn out to be a prequel to some extent.
Man i can't believe i miss this stream by 2 days, i missed golden quotes like 37:34 "If i hear this in a dark room i will shied myself"
Also glad you enjoyed this deltarune song stream, the songs are like an experimental branching of undertale while retaining some parts that make undertale great, and the game itself is a mirror to that, even if you aren't planning on streaming the game i do recommend playing it
Honestly, I respect your decision to play Deltarune when its finished.

32:38 - This piece sounds like it came from Paper Mario: the Origami King because of this segment - it uses one of the central motifs of that game. Different musicians occasionally have very similar ideas!
Have a specific track I can listen to to compare?
Deltarune is more like an alternate universe from Undertale (the idea for Deltarune even came before that of Undertale, iirc) and their stories aren't directly connected, but as you may have heard, you'll still hear some familiar tunes
Loved how your face immediately scrunched up, concentrated on picking up those leitmotifs, I literally did the same thing when I heard the OST first out of context 😂 Gosh I ESPECIALLY lost my mind at Big Shot, what an amalgamation of motifs!!! That song also kinda became the new Megalovania in the fandom, with the extra bit that there's a voice in it that we've spent months trying to isolate for a secret- but I won't say what it is, mostly cause we don't know what it says exactly yet lol
It'd be awesome for you to play Deltarune, but honestly no pressure.
"i'll play deltarune when it's finished" is a statement of true patience
the thing about "Empty town" cuz its only have one major sound, and that is the humming, if you dont know.
when in battle, ralsei can use "sing" in act to put asleep enemies.
if you listen closely, "empty town" and ralsei's "sing" have the same sound sample.
its indicating that "Empty town" is personally singed by Ralsei.
and as ralsei said, he's been lonely for so long. it possible that to fill his loneliness, he's singing "Empty town" while waiting for the heroes to arrive.
Deltarune's variety is what I love most about it. You want a pump-up boss theme? Got it. Something slower, more emotional? Yup, it's here. Electronic adventure jam? You know it. Little bit of everything in here.
and whatever keygen is
I love how you get music in the way that you do, UNDERSTANDING the piece more than just "this sounds nice" 30:01 Even if you might be wrong, you inject your thoughts and ideas into the video, love it!
Oh my god and I can’t believe I forgot about Spamton/NOW’S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A
Glad you're liking the music!

Hearing this was really nice to hear. Its so simple, but I dunno man? It made me feel hopeful and remind myself that all success has to start somewhere. I really love the gentleness in your music reactions and all your videos.
Thanks for being a "Filled with Determination" save point Marco.
Thank you so so much
30:16 in response to this, once you play the game and get the context of what the song is tied to, it becomes a lot more solid for what’s conveyed, especially when in each sequence the tracks play out more. It really is a great game, Toby knows how to make tracks that tie everything nicely together, and hopefully once it’s done you’ll get to enjoy the experience, I would suggest maybe playing once Chapter 5 is released, there’s 7 in total ❤
Very nice seeing this live, thanks for using the playlist I suggested a while back!
I didn't realize until I was watching this that Toby snuck a section of Waterfall/Battle Against A True Hero into BIG SHOT.
And Dummy! is in there too
It’s actually “Power Of NEO” mettaton NEO’s theme. it’s the same leitmotif, but you can tell the one BIG SHOT uses is Mettaton NEO’s theme because it uses the same instruments. (And because of the NEO in the title obviously)
Having the ability to read a game's scenery and story just through the knowledge of its different tunes is honestly such an admirable ability, got nothing but respect for you
What an absolute bop it is to hear Lancer's theme for the first time after 3 years, let me tell you
16:58 bro started singing in Chinise
15:11 WHAT THE DOG DOIN?
Quick note: the playlist you're listening to is kinda weird for Chapter 2.
It cuts a lot of the songs in the 2nd half of the Chapter 2 OST short, and some others aren't looped properly.
For example, the song "HEY EVERY !" is supposed to loop, but it just plays once.
I've legitimately spent HOURS browsing the internet with just My Castle Town on loop. Beautiful song.
“Its like honouring a knight” haha well you see
Nothing makes me feel more at home and with like-minded people here on this channel.
I'd like to share a random fact about the second to last song you heard from Chapter 1's OST, "Before the Story"
That music is actually the Title Screen music.
(If I recall correctly, you can jump straight into chapter 2 without having played chapter 1 but this is superbly not recommended for a first time playthrough)
Before The Story is the final song you hear from the first chapter, and as such it's the last song in the OST.
23:57
The dog was in synth with the music it sounds so beautiful
Based Opinion: Quiet Autumn and Scarlet Forest deserve more recognition. I just really love that part of the game.
(It’s especially noticeable in the visuals if you ever end up playing the game but apparent in the music as well, he never had that clarinet or that hard guitar sound effects before)
Also, only 2 chapters are out now so it’s hard to form solid theories but a disproportionate number of songs on this ost are waltzes it’s almost weird and like it’s trying to prove a point. Not enough of the game is out to get any conclusions for that tho
man i've always wondered how they make music sound "empty" while still having a nice melody. that explanation about the space between the notes made so much sense! i'm gonna be looking out for that from now on whenever i listen to music 😂
Aw man, can't believe I missed this live! This is making me more hyped for chapter 3 and beyond!
Ive been practicing singing this past couple month. I enjoyed humming with you. You have such a beautiful voice i wished to reach to one day. Or at least thats what i want to strive for. Good video!
Thank you so much!!
52:50 Before The Story always hits different for me compared to the rest of soundtrack, I already got so happy hearing Once Upon a Time back in Beginning, but when I heard it in Before The Story, I started crying, dude, even if it wasn't actually made for Deltarune, it still just hit so damn hard hearing that familiar motif again
i will never forget the feeling of listening to before the story for the first time.
1:33:20
"I'm gonna-knock you down,
I'm gonna-knock you down,
I'm gonna-knock you down,
I'm gonna-knock you down..."
Fun fact!!! The vocalist for Don't Forget is also the writer and singer for Zombies on Your Lawn, the credits song for Plants vs Zombies
Get out!!!
They sound sorta similar- albeit with entirely different vibes-
but it's actually the same singer!? That's awesome!
@@Saiavinn laura shigihara
@@Saiavinn shes also the one that made the entire soundtrack for the original plants vs zombies :)
she's also featured on songs in the to the moon series and has her own game rakuen for which she made all the music for!
I'm really happy that you decided to give the ost a listen, it's full of bangers and several surprises. Obviously the tracks are even better in context but even without it you can still appreciate Toby Fox's work :)
You keep mentioning that you want to play deltarune after it's fully out and I completly understand you but there are some unfortunate problems with it.
@@Querez8504 Toby and his team work on 3 chapters at once.
Toby a few months ago said chapter 3 is almost finished.
You actually nailed that description of Vs Susie when you said it’s almost the like the fight doesn’t want to happens. On the dot.
29:54 His ability to dissect the story and its characters just from the music alone will never cease to impress me
I just want to say at 30:00 when you were talking about Vs. Susie you were spot on, im really impressed!
Edit: Just kept watching and saw that your chat told you you were right, still thought I would keep the comment though, keep up great work!
You actually hit the nail on the head on Vs. Susie wow. Yeah in the moment that battle just tears your heart to shreds
im so sad i missed this stream! ive been waiting for this one for a while. ill definitely be watching this for the rest of my night now
So sorry I missed this stream but I'm really glad to see you finally checking this out!!
30:08 This speaks both for your understanding of musical intention and Tobys ability to convey said intention.
@@TheShowCrow_Main_ChannelThe listener like from The dark Brotherhood quest in Skyrim?
dude you guessed vs. susie purely from the music, that's awesome
10:15 Well in that case you'll have to wait a few years, 3 or more probably
24:58
"Annoying dog" is a running gag in Undertale community. It's a character present in both games, which is basically Toby Fox inesrting himself into the games.
LET'S GOOOOO, I WAS HYPED FOR THIS, I can't wait to see you play this and be excited for the next chapters along with the community
oh I see you are gonna play Deltarune when it's finished, that's gotta be 2025 or 2026, or maybe 2027 then, or maybe you will play it before it's finished, which I recommend since the amount of information, lore, mysteries and theories are at an all time high because of Ch 1, Ch 2 and Undertale
Amazing how you foreshadowed the Vs Susie theme
Hey there, completely unrelated to the actual game or its plot relevance thereof, but girl next door about at 57:50 I feel perfectly overlays with "You reposted in the wrong neighborhood"(which itself is a meme crafted from 2 other songs) disconcertingly well, down to the choice in delays and syncopation
Oh and what scares me about it is the possibility that it isn't just in my head, because Toby as displayed that he is more than happy to reference in music and in game alike that he enjoys referencing cheeky and by today's standard, extremely outdated and cheesy old memes
1:25:28 "It felt like the last song was about someone who passed away or someone who was misunderstood."
My man does not miss with the predictions, holy moly.
Can't wait for you to play Deltarune when it comes out in 12-15 years!
more like in 2030
That's way too fucking optimistic, man!
So at best I'm 7 years off the mark. Well, I'll take it!
@@ZeDoctorful fair lol
shoutouts to the person in chat who said "overrated song" at Field of Hopes and Dreams, "overrated song #2" at "A CYBER'S WORLD?", and then "overrated song #2" AGAIN at "Pandora Palace"
truly a person of wisdom
Wait is it me or did he miss one? I don't know the name but it plays a couple of times during the Weird Route I think, like when Noelle is reflecting on Kris in the hospital (and asks about her watch if you equip it)
Maybe the playlist he chose forgot to add it lol, it's pretty short anyways
To this day everytime i listen to Big Shot and it gets to the World Revolving segment. for whatever reason it feels like im locked in place and cant move and i start intensely staring into nothing. its a really odd feeling that i dont get very much of. its bolth concerning and neat
It does give off this feeling of an out of body experience. Casually drifting while the songs of the past merge together to give some illegible hint about the future. Before you can take it all in, it cuts right back to Spamtons motif, grounding you back to reality.
When I first heard your dog bark, I thought it was part of the track. Just seemed like something Toby would do xd
50:53
is no one going to talk about this?
Truly amazing
:)
Don't Forget wells up tears each time for me. Its so short, but so full of meaning.
Beautifully sung.
Omg the "Don't forget" cover was amazing!
"Ill play Deltarune when it's finished" seeya in 10 years T_T
Your choice is yours in the end but I will say, it's been a blast making theories, discussing the game, and keeping up with Toby's extremely fun updates in between each chapter, I think playing it as it comes out is maybe 15% of the fun. That said again, it's up to you!
Beautiful cover of Don’t Forget! I do hope you do eventually do a play-through of Deltarune, whenever it may be
I love your don’t forget cover ❤️
