Frankie did you notice that it recognises fingerprint faster when using Samsung Pay or Google Pay or any app that uses fp protection. It's only at lockscreen that it takes time to unlock.
We should appreciate chinese comapnies(xiaomi,oneplus,huawei etc...) because in a way they're forcing big companies to make great phones at lower price
No they’re not the s10e is still way more than one plus and the xiaomi and huawei phones are way more than the s10e nobody is influencing anyone it’s actually the opposite Chinese companies start off cheap to gain a following then they raise the prices to compete with Apple and Samsung
I own the s10+ and bought the a70 to and to be honest, in normal daily use u dont know any difference between the devices! 6.7 inch amoled screen is amazing and i love them both, sure the s10+ is a flagship but the a70 is a midrange flagship. Keep up the good work samsung...
@@Alador. the photo quality is an other story, after al the s10+ is a flagship. U cant compare the camera's or the fingerprints sensor... the a70 is a good allrounder but u cant compare it to a s10+. But as daily use normal use the a70 is good enough for it's price

It's a good allrounder but you can't compare it to flagships. As i said it's a midrange flahship, but not comparible to the real thing. A suggest the huawei p30 or p30 pro or the new oneplus 7 or 7 pro. But at the moment i think the S10 and S10+ nailed the market again! And when the note 10 comes and the galaxy fold (not compatible for every user) i think samsung nailed it again for this year. To be honest samsung is the best in my opinion, i had all kind of phones. Huawei iphone oneplus nokia ect ect ect... but samsung is the best! But if ur looking for a midrange flagship i suggest the A70 or the A80 that one looks eyecatching to...
Its a great phone but consider the pixel 3a or 3axl his specs in letter maybe be lower but that google camera plus lag free software snapchat and instagram are more optimised for google phones

When you try to record videos you should try switching to the qualities from 720 to 4k because For example this phone you inly tested at 4k and had 0 stability Other phones have eis on lower qualities which we would like to see

In your description, you say the A70 is bigger (as in both taller AND wider) than the S10+. but looking at them held side-by-side the S10+ does look a bit wider to me. My last phone was a Note 3, which had a lovely 7.2mm wide flat screen (which nothing that Samsung has released since then, including the Note 9 and the S10+) seems to get close to. I was hoping the A70 would be almost as wide, but I'm not so sure now. I don't care about height particularly, it's width of display that I'm looking for (i.e more/larger text across the screen - I'm not a gamer, and 16:9 is perfectly sufficient for videos and photos).
just picked it up while checking out carphone warehouse, seriously nice screen and its actually 20:9 opposed to 19:9 which means if you hide the notch you arent actually losing screen real-estate over other options without a notch
Good going with the 48 hour review. I have the Galaxy A50 and the only thing keeping me from loving this phone is the fingerprint scanner. The plastic body is not an issue with me, phones were made from plastic before and if I have to sacrifice premium build for better features or even a bigger battery, I’m so good with that. I am hoping the fingerprint scanner can be improved with a software update. I will say that, at least in my playing around with the phone, that activating the facial recognition seems to make the fingerprint scanner work better when they’re used together. Try it and tell me what you think. Thank you for the reviews and keep up the good work.
This i agree. I own the A70 for 2 weeks now. Great phone. Resonable scrren size for gaming and browsing. Jst ordered a cool flip case tempered glass front and back to make it more premium and expensive looking
The fingerprint scanner to you is slow? That is still relatively quick compared to my S8 Plus which sometimes refuse to even register my fingerprint. I can live with 1 second response time for my finger to be scanned.....a very small issue that won't even bother me at all. I love the fact that the fingerprint scanner is on the front as it just works better for me. I have recently bought the A50 after my unfortunate event of my S8 getting damaged by accident but I am extremely happy with this phone. Yes the face recognition is a bit slow to respond but compared to my S8, there is very little difference to me between them. My honest opinion. For the first time that the mid range phones of Samsung are worth a look and buy.
People saying this phone is overpriced. I'll tell you that it's not. It is launched at 420 euros but you can find this phone at some online stores with warranties and whatnot for 350 euros already. The most important thing is the fact that the base variant of this phone is 6/128 gb whereas most midrange phones is 4/64 and in some countries you cant even find the 6/128gb of some phones and if you find the price is obviously higher. In a few weeks the a70 will have a stable price around 300 euros. Haters will hate but this phone is amazing. A complete package phone without real cons in every day life usage unless you hate huge phones 😊

Yes I think you make a great point that all those prices people tout for Redmi and other phones are typically the base variant, and the 6 GB version is typically hard to find and not available in more markets. I like this phone comes standard with 6/128 and I paid just a little extra for 8/128. If it does get down to 300 Euros that will be a great price for a solid midrange phone.

I think the culprit for the slow finger reader is the screen protector provided by Samsung. There is an option on the settings that tick whether you have screen protector or not. And I suggest register your finger 3X for faster scan fast of your print. Nice video by the way.. keep it up Bro.
Finally pulled the pin this week. Got the 8 GB RAM model. So far so good. The colour and the resolution of that screen is just something else. Oh, and did I mention it is pretty massive too at 6.7"? LOL.
Nice review, when you compare it side by side with s10+, i notice the hole punch more maybe because of the screen size, but i also think this is a cheaper alternative than mate 20x! Great job frankie
@@domination8870 Actually, the choice was between Huawei P30 and Xiaomi Mi 9, I ended up going with the Xiaomi Mi 9 mainly for it's unlocked bootloader, GCAM compatibility, and slightly faster chipset. I miss the convenience of having a headphone jack, mainly for 3.5mm *headphones* but I'll be getting a pair of true wireless headphones soon, so I'll ditch the cables along with the jack.
This does look a really great phone! Samsung will surely update the Fingerprint scanner when they get enough complaints or notice the problem. I like the size and design too. I am not a Samsung fan their UI used to drive me nuts which is why I have not bothered with them for a number of years, however, you like this new UI so I may try it myself when this phone reaches Estonia properly. The camera seemed quite acceptable too - though no image stabilisation? Liked the vid a lot another great one.

You can kinda make the icons smaller by changing the Home Screen and App Drawer grid layout. I set mine to 4x6 and the icons are just the right size. Anyway, I got my Galaxy A70 on May this year and I am loving the experience so far. Really bang-for-buck Samsung phone. 😍💪🏻
Its a really good phone. Bigger screen means better for gaming, bigger batt, and better SoC. The only deal breaker is obviously is slow on-screen fingerprint sensor.
Warning, resolution is not a thing in the Samsung A series, apparently as you can change aspect ratio but not picture resolution/size. Installing 3rd party apps on my A70 allows me to choose from a max of 8 megapixels which explains many complaints about grainy pictures when zoomed in. (did some investigation) The sensor which is by any hardware sensor app registered as an 8 MP camera is in fact an 8x4 computed 32 MP camera, it shows when zooming in. Low light pictures are terrible when zoomed in just once.
Happy with my A70. My only issue with it is the fingerprint scanner. It can never seem to pick up my fingerprint. Other than that. Price is absolutely amazing, display beautiful, battery massive, performance, great.
Well the a70 has a better chipset bigger battery and a 25w fast charger which not even the s10 charger has but one thing that the a9 is better in and that is the building quality because it's made out of glass and steel.so for me I'm waiting the a70 to be released in my country to buy it
I'm actually contemplating between this A70 and the S10e in replacement to my current S7 Edge 128GB. I know it's obviously the S10e which makes the logical upgrade to my current daily driver, but the A70 is very tempting with it's giant screen, giant battery, etc. On the other hand, the S10e is still classified as a flagship and you know you won't go wrong. Another plus is the camera OIS and IP68 dust and water resistance.
Mark Tristan R. Ocampo my friend just went from an S7 edge to the s10e. If you aren’t too concerned about having a massive screen, I’d go with the s10e. Screen is still far from being small, and it’s quite nice holding a device that’s smaller than most flagship phones these days
Except for display size, the Mi 9T wipes the floor with this. The camera in A70 is last gen. Mid range. A lot has happened in mid range segment since then..
I would get this phone in a heartbeat but I live in Malaysia and the RRP here is around HKD4000 or around $509 , way too expensive for what it is, a midranger. I don't know what our local branch of Samsung were thinking when they priced this.
Plastic wont break like glass. Big display Huge battery it lasted 27hrs 4 me and im a tradie. Camera works fine. Had troubles with Microsoft Word. Other that that great phone.
Really a beast phone,and a huge step up from Samsung in the midrange segment,though honestly would spend 50$ more(in my country) for the Mi 9 with glass build,SD855,faster fingerprint sensor,IR Blaster,same screen,super quick charge and a better camera.
their problem was the soc being crappy beyond belief (specially the gpu part) even on the A series, comparing the A8 2018 with a pathetic mali mp2 vs the adreno 630 of the sd845... 675 or the sd710 give the 835/845 a run for their money.

Finger print scanner is life for u ? I think its a niche but my girlfriends s10 plus has it and she doesnt even use it, for a mid-range the A70 is ripping everything midrange out there
As much as I loved the 8X Max I really can’t recommend you buy any Micro USB phone in 2019. So go for A50 or A70 or wait for the Mi Max 4 because it’s going to be a beast!
Even if it's plastic it looks awesome. Go into the store and check it out yourself. The A70 is what caught my eye and not the S10. This phone is seriously an awesome phone for the price. Amazing screen. Awesome camera and actually the notch is really leaps and bounds ahead of competition; very minimal and i like it. Half price of an S10 and really is an exceptional buy. It may not be as powerful as S10 but if you're not gaming this is something you should look at.
i bought A70 from two weeks it is pretty good in everything except two things 1) the camera quality needs to be enhanced 2) it sometimes get hot from the top beside the camera
The on screen finger print scanner is really a pain on the ass, I wonder why Samsung didn't go for traditional finger print scanner. I have a A50 and every time I want to unlock the screen, have to try about three times.
Too bad about that finger print scanner. Because this ticks a lot of boxes. That screen is just soo beautiful😍😍👍👍 at this price point. It's not perfect, and no phone is. But hopefully they can improve that scanner performance in a software update. Because this could become the new midrange and value for money king. Excellent assessment as always Frankie✌️✌️🙂.
That's really the only downside of these A series devices is that horrible fingerprint reader. They should've put it in the power button on the side 🤷🏾♂️

Something no reviewer mentions: OneUi icons, which some people complain about the size, can be changed to smaller ones from the settings
For how long will the phone be u[dated? Android Q R? Security updates? Rear camera is not so good without stabilisation.

A slight tuning to the fingre print sensor needed otherwise a very very enjoyable phone. Using it and its just amazing.

Actually, the choice was between Huawei P30 and Xiaomi Mi 9, I ended up going with the Xiaomi Mi 9 mainly for it's unlocked bootloader, GCAM compatibility, and slightly faster chipset. I miss the convenience of having a headphone jack, mainly for 3.5mm *headphones* but I'll be getting a pair of true wireless headphones soon, so I'll ditch the cables along with the jack.
Is there a compatibility difference between the 6 & 8gb variants as far as working in the U.S on AT&T

This does look a really great phone! Samsung will surely update the Fingerprint scanner when they get enough complaints or notice the problem. I like the size and design too. I am not a Samsung fan their UI used to drive me nuts which is why I have not bothered with them for a number of years, however, you like this new UI so I may try it myself when this phone reaches Estonia properly. The camera seemed quite acceptable too - though no image stabilisation? Liked the vid a lot another great one.

You can kinda make the icons smaller by changing the Home Screen and App Drawer grid layout. I set mine to 4x6 and the icons are just the right size.
Anyway, I got my Galaxy A70 on May this year and I am loving the experience so far. Really bang-for-buck Samsung phone. 😍💪🏻

Its a really good phone. Bigger screen means better for gaming, bigger batt, and better SoC. The only deal breaker is obviously is slow on-screen fingerprint sensor.
Warning, resolution is not a thing in the Samsung A series, apparently as you can change aspect ratio but not picture resolution/size. Installing 3rd party apps on my A70 allows me to choose from a max of 8 megapixels which explains many complaints about grainy pictures when zoomed in. (did some investigation)
The sensor which is by any hardware sensor app registered as an 8 MP camera is in fact an 8x4 computed 32 MP camera, it shows when zooming in. Low light pictures are terrible when zoomed in just once.

I’d say I trust any Qualcomm chip over power hungry Exynos chips most of the time, and I’ll take the bigger display any day!

Happy with my A70. My only issue with it is the fingerprint scanner. It can never seem to pick up my fingerprint. Other than that. Price is absolutely amazing, display beautiful, battery massive, performance, great.

Well the a70 has a better chipset bigger battery and a 25w fast charger which not even the s10 charger has but one thing that the a9 is better in and that is the building quality because it's made out of glass and steel.so for me I'm waiting the a70 to be released in my country to buy it

I'm actually contemplating between this A70 and the S10e in replacement to my current S7 Edge 128GB.
I know it's obviously the S10e which makes the logical upgrade to my current daily driver, but the A70 is very tempting with it's giant screen, giant battery, etc.
On the other hand, the S10e is still classified as a flagship and you know you won't go wrong. Another plus is the camera OIS and IP68 dust and water resistance.
Mark Tristan R. Ocampo my friend just went from an S7 edge to the s10e. If you aren’t too concerned about having a massive screen, I’d go with the s10e. Screen is still far from being small, and it’s quite nice holding a device that’s smaller than most flagship phones these days
Camera quality and optical stabilization would be the main problems for me.
Please get A80 when it is available and do a camera comparison vs back and front camera on S10+ and P30 Pro
Except for display size, the Mi 9T wipes the floor with this. The camera in A70 is last gen. Mid range. A lot has happened in mid range segment since then..
You can change the icon size by using a 5x4 grid instead of 4x4

The fingerprint scanner is much better after update. And also the trick is register the same thumb or finger twice and it's then much better

I would get this phone in a heartbeat but I live in Malaysia and the RRP here is around HKD4000 or around $509 , way too expensive for what it is, a midranger. I don't know what our local branch of Samsung were thinking when they priced this.

Huge battery it lasted 27hrs 4 me and im a tradie.
Camera works fine.
Had troubles with Microsoft Word. Other that that great phone.

Really a beast phone,and a huge step up from Samsung in the midrange segment,though honestly would spend 50$ more(in my country) for the Mi 9 with glass build,SD855,faster fingerprint sensor,IR Blaster,same screen,super quick charge and a better camera.
their problem was the soc being crappy beyond belief (specially the gpu part) even on the A series, comparing the A8 2018 with a pathetic mali mp2 vs the adreno 630 of the sd845...
675 or the sd710 give the 835/845 a run for their money.

Finger print scanner is life for u ? I think its a niche but my girlfriends s10 plus has it and she doesnt even use it, for a mid-range the A70 is ripping everything midrange out there

As much as I loved the 8X Max I really can’t recommend you buy any Micro USB phone in 2019. So go for A50 or A70 or wait for the Mi Max 4 because it’s going to be a beast!
Even if it's plastic it looks awesome. Go into the store and check it out yourself. The A70 is what caught my eye and not the S10. This phone is seriously an awesome phone for the price. Amazing screen. Awesome camera and actually the notch is really leaps and bounds ahead of competition; very minimal and i like it. Half price of an S10 and really is an exceptional buy. It may not be as powerful as S10 but if you're not gaming this is something you should look at.

The on screen finger print scanner is really a pain on the ass, I wonder why Samsung didn't go for traditional finger print scanner. I have a A50 and every time I want to unlock the screen, have to try about three times.

Too bad about that finger print scanner. Because this ticks a lot of boxes. That screen is just soo beautiful😍😍👍👍 at this price point. It's not perfect, and no phone is. But hopefully they can improve that scanner performance in a software update. Because this could become the new midrange and value for money king. Excellent assessment as always Frankie✌️✌️🙂.
