Hello Andre and Dominica,
I'm from Chile, let me explain beyond the music what Los Prisioneros mean for Chile and for many people in Latin America. This band consisted of three teenagers who, in the midst of a military dictatorship, began "learning" to play instruments and performed in makeshift places with socially-oriented songs. During a time when the military would kill you if you became a symbol against the government and its injustices, Los Prisioneros were the only "young" band bold enough to sing directly about these social issues. The other major bands with political discourse were mostly folklorists who had been preaching for years. That's why in the 80s, this band became "the cry of the youth" against injustices. They were young people like you and me, not renowned artists or manufactured as such; they looked like your neighbor, your classmate, your brother, shouting what everyone else was afraid to say. That's why people adore them even though they weren't expert musicians initially. Along the way, they built their talent and knew exactly how to make people sing, how to make people "feel." That's why they became timeless generational icons, because the same social injustices they sang about 40 years ago still occur in Latin America, even though we are no longer under dictatorship. That's why every new generation of youth holds them close to their hearts when they feel oppressed by society, and that's why you see adults and children alike singing their songs. More than their music or lyrics, it's about how in the 80s they channeled the pain of youth and turned it into rock. That's why people love Los Prisioneros.
If you want another suggestion from them, listen to "El baile de los que sobran," where they talk about primary (8 years) and secondary (4 years) education in Chile (8+4=12... the 12 games).

soy de Chile, dejenme explicarles mas alla de la Musica q es para Chile Los Prisioneros y para mucha gente de latinoamerica.
Esta Banda fueron 3 adolescentes que en mitad de un periodo de Dictadura Militar empezaron a "aprender" a tocar instrumentos y se presentaron en lugares precarios con canciones de corte social en una epoca en q los militares te mataban si te volvias un referente contra el gobierno y sus injusticias, fue la unica banda "joven" que se atrevio a cantar directamente sobre estos temas sociales ya q las otras grandes bandas de discurso politico q existian eran en su mayoria folckoristas que llevaban un discurso de años, por eso esta banda en los 80 se convirtio en "el grito de la juventud" contra las injusticias, jovenes como lo eramos tu o yo, no eran artistas connotados ni se producian como artistas, se veian como tu vecino, como tu compañero de clases, como tu hermano, gritando lo q todos callaban por miedo....por eso es q la gente los adora aunq no sean expertos musicos ya q en el camino construyeron su talento y sabian muy bien como hacer cantar a la gente, como hacer "sentir" a la gente, por eso se volvieron iconos generacionales atemporales ya que las mismas injusticias sociales q relataban hace 40 años siguen ocurriendo en latinoamerica aunque ya no estemos en dictadura, por eso cada generacion nueva de jovenes los acurruca en su corazon cuando se sienten reprimidos por la sociedad, y eso hace q veas a adultos y niños coreando sus canciones. Mas q su musica o sus letras esto se trata de q en la decada del 80 canalizaron el dolor de una juventud y la convirtieron en rock, por eso la gente ama a Los Prisioneros.
Si quieren otra sugerencoa de ellos seria "El baile de los que sobran" en donde se refieren a la educacion primaria (8 años) y media (4 años) en Chile (8+4=12.... los 12 juegos)
PD: Vean las letras traducidas de estas canciones y las amaran aun mas y sigan descubriendo la musica chilena q hay mucho mas q les fascinara.

Soy un chileno estudiante universitario cuando ellos nacían al público más amplio... eran muy honestos y "no se pasaban películas" creyéndose los mejores" ni mucho menos.

Hi, im from Chie, This concert was the return of Los Prisioneros and their last big concert, no other bands played. They filled the Chilean National Stadium in Santiago for two consecutive days. I was there the first day, it was unforgettable, I cried with emotion in several songs, I screamed until I lost my voice.
Este concierto fue el regreso de Los Prisioneros y su ultimo gran concierto masivo, no tocaron otras bandas. Llenaron dos días consecutivos el Estadio nacional de Chile en Santiago. Yo estuve ahi el primer día, fue inolvidable, llore de emoción en varias canciones, grite hasta quedar sin voz.
If you could really be here in Chile at some point and get to know its culture and its people, believe me you couldn't be happier... The greatest thing about Chile is undoubtedly its people and its landscapes... every corner of this country It is wonderful. I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries and learn about different cultures. However, being outside I miss its people, its music, and the warmth of family and friends. Thank you for taking me with this music to my younger years... From Chile a sincere and fraternal hug....🇨🇱🇨🇱🙏

And... there were two concerts in a row (two nights) to a full stadium. And only they played. The concert was prepared in secret, it was planned for only one night... it was announced very close to the agreed day... but it sold out so quickly, that they decided to do a second concert on the following night... Two nights of full house .

Thanks for reacting to Los Prisioneros again. I recommend that you could review the lyrics of their songs cause they have a very strong social and political meanings. They started playing during our dictatorship and had a lot of issues to play their songs in public, the censorship, etc.
This performance of the video was during their reunion after some years separated. And it was a very expected meeting so that's why the National Stadium in Santiago was absolutely full, because the band is such a symbol of chilean rock and a very beloved band. They had two eras, during the 80's very social and political lyrics with a very rocky guitar. During the 90's without the original guitarist, they turned more techno and pop and also more romantic
Paramar was one of the few romantic songs from the 80's, and talks about the difficulties to love and be loved during modern times. I recommend to see the lyrics of the song. Paramar is a play with words, cause Para Amar (separated in two words) means For Loving. Paramar means soft raining.
At the beginning of the video you can see the chilean football player Ivan Zamorano greeting the public. He played in Real Madrid and at that time was a national team star.
