JAMES COULSON, How does the Vector Generator IC chips and circuits work in theory? how do you test the Vector generators IC chips using an logic probe and oscilloscope?
Hello! I have a very similar problem: This bright diagonal/ horizontal line and vertical collapse. But if i check the signals with an oscilloscope (XY mode), there are correct. I will check the DACs and the output TL72s. Thanks!
I know nothing about this situation. I just love my Vectrex and vector displays in general so I was curious how you have it 'tracing' or.. showing the lines to the points in the star field instead of just the points themselves. Is this a feature of a debug mode or the problem itself?
This video shows a problem with the AVG PCB Board (Analog Vector Generator). During attract mode or game play you should not see the retrace lines. This problem was solved by replacing the 2 DAC (Digital Analog Converter) Chips on the PCB. Vector monitors / games are unique, they are one of the best things that came out during the '80s.
