@@juansanchez209 depends on what writer you ask honestly. For example, J. M. DeMatteis absolutely adores the character, and he was on the book years before and after his death. The success of the Clone Saga eventually caused major issues for everyone, but I still stand by the idea that his story and initial purpose is absolutely golden. He’s a Peter Parker that, through hardship and circumstance, learned to live and move past his guilt, whereas Peter still drowns in it to this very day
@@stanfordfeynman2796 The last part of your statement is something that I agree with, and it’s actually one of the reasons why I don’t care for the character that much. For better or for worse, Peter is defined by his guilt. That’s why he’ll never move past it in the comics; without guilt there can be no Spider-Man (at least no Peter Parker Spider-Man).

Actually the other Ben Reilly head sculpt in 6 inch is the Vintage card Scarlet Spider Marvel Legends one. He had a repainted Peter Parker head so the hair on the head is blonde

The only line that comes to mind with better articulation is Amazing Yamaguchi, but there you get a lot of compromises in the overall silhouette of the figure which a lot of people are (understandably) not down with. I agree with you that this Ben Reilly is AWESOME. As far as villains, as much as I would love a Mafex Goblin (any version), what i would really, REALLY love is a Mafex Kraven.
to add onto your point about hasbro spidey, if they found a way to blend the retro ab crunch onto the pizza spidey mold that would be the perfect spidey body to me
No matter how "late" you post a video on a figure, I'll always watch it because you always go in depth with what a figure can do. It never feels rushed, and always feels like you're genuinely enjoying (or critiquing) the art. Good stuff, as always!

Great balance of Sculpt and Articulation that does not look ugly when you break it unlike Legends. Dont care for the Clone saga so Im skipping this, but hope that the Black Suit spiderman is just as good.

Although you did a great review, I think its too early to make the contention that "Mafex is Killing it!" Indeed, the visual aesthetics are amazing, and clearly have the potential to promote purchase from looks alone, however, its important for us to examine the quality of the figure when removed from the box. I say this because the company has a historical legacy of manufacturing "pretty products" that are not well engineered, at a high price point. Great Job, however!

I've got the Marvel Legends Ben Reilly unmasked head sculpt that came with the carded Scarlett Spider. I kind of wish they had used the same blue as this one on the Peter Parker version. But I have the 2 versions of the Mafex Peter Parker, Miles Morales and Venom. I haven't picked this guy up. I have per-ordered the Black Suit version. But as a massive Spider-man fan, I still think the Marvel Legends Spider-man v2 is the best. Great review as always.
Yeah it would have been really nice if they went with the general Mark Bagley look where the logos match the comic-shaded blue of the suit. While the figure circumvents this with the proper broad shoulders and build, a lot of Sensational suit art suffers from the torso being too boxy when the logo doesn’t bleed into the rest of the suit
This is my favourite toy this year, and it took me completely by surprise. The weight and balance are incredible. You're absolutely right, Wade, it feels surprisingly good in hand.

A Mafex Green Goblin would be a great addition, I love this spiderman, probably 2nd best figure of the year imo, (granted I don't have many high end figs), I missed out on the amazing spiderman so now I'm shopping the KO version just cause this is that good I need more, great review WADE as always many thanks

@@zentine3235 I think Chris means a comic version, not the movie version, which is not as good a design. A Mafex comic Vulture would be good as well, since they are releasing a WW84 Golden Armour Wonder Woman with wings.

I wholeheartedly agree bro Mafex is king right now in terms of making comic book character figures at the moment. They all literally look as if they were plucked straight out of their respective comics. I got two of these and Psylocke in the mail recently and omg, especially Psylocke. it looks EXACTLY like her and I cannot wait for the Cyborg Superman release next year. I would love for them to make an Advanced Suit PS4 Spider-Man, btw you should check out 1000toys Master Chief it is immaculate I love it.
I personally am not getting this guy. He looks great and overall perfect but I do not have as much of a connection to Ben unlike Parker or Morales. I’m just gonna wait for the Legends. Great review tho!

My only other Mafex is Comic Spiderman (comic paint ver.) And his leg constantly falls off,so I'm glad to have a Mafex Spidey that I can play and pose around with mostly no issues
Try Kiki's Joint Fix, it should make the leg stay in better. I had success recently with a KO Mafex 075 with an arm that wouldn't stay in the socket.
I love Ben Reilly but I would never ever see him as Spider-Man or Peter Parker, even though Ben Reilly will never be Spider-Man, HE IS THE SCARLET SPIDER!

I am so mad at myself for passing on this pre-order. I am still going to see if I can get one from Singapore that I dont have to pay an arm and a leg for.
Need them to make a Checchetto or Mazzuccheli Daredevil and also remake the og comic spidey they made but with this figure’s flat and vibrant paint job.
if you look SUUUPER close you can see that the Ben head sculpts are actually slightly different than Peter's Ben has a slightly wider chin and pointier nose
i know its 2 years too late and you wont read this, but the head is diferente, the ben reily mask is tug closer to the face near the nose,and the head shape is rounder you can notice this on the top of the head and base of the neck,his chin is also more pronouced then peter. its only the lenses and web pattern that are the same, so they actually bothered to make a new mold. but i agree the second head at least should been another artist lenses interpretation.
Ben reilly doesnt feel right unless you have to wonder how he can effectively fight crime with his lense placement
Did they fix the broken wrist joints and chipping paint on the eyes from the last Spider-Man? Mafex figures are always great until you touch them, hope they're fixing things.
The painted lines are much cleaner. Mafex does do the best Spider-Man figures. I can’t stand Ben Riley’s character, but I did love the Scarlet Spider as a kid and the suit design is really badass

Bro this by far out of the package is my favorite Spider-Man figure period. The quality of the joints and plastic are so much better than the original comic version. I've always loved the Sensational Era of Spider-Man and Ben is a long time favorite. I am so hoping for Scarlet Spidey with soft goods from Mafex but for now this has me more than pleased. The joints are better but not that far. Mainly in the knees is whats better. Both plastics were great on the two.
Got mine months ago, also noticed the we got the same issue with the neck part of the unmasked head. The Black Lines are too pale if not lack of the wash at all.

Man I really hope they make a comic-paint variant of this figure. The Sensational suit is at its best when the logos are colored to correctly match the secondary blue/black of the suit with proper highlights throughout.
Also, while I know Mafex is focusing more on the 90s stuff, I would really love a proper Beyond Ben Reilly figure! My Mafex KO Spidey custom just isn’t enough lol
