- This week we drive a very rare original Irish 1980 Toyota Corolla 'Deluxe' KE30 saloon.
Many thanks to the owner who contacted and wished their car to feature on the channel.
Sound has been an issue but I HOPE it is a lot better for everyone today, not perfect but we're getting there.
****Sorry about the poor light at times but when we arrived to film the car someone had parked in front of the entrance. These things happen****
If you have a car and you'd like it to feature on the channel (if you deem it interesting enough for the channel that's good enough for me) contact me on Twitter or by Email below:

I have just bought a ke36 van from 76 1.2 with original numberplates. lovely little car. Greetings from Denmark
They used to be very common, years since I last saw one
@@JohnsGarageIreland I think it is the last van with two seats and original numberplates in Denmark
Unbelievable car, had an 1981 red one. Light in the rear, so added two cement blocks to keep it settled. Soft rear seat also. Unusual pointed tip speed dials but went forever. Traded for an 83 Corolla DX which was a nice step up. Toyota were brilliant back then, perfect formula. Had the 86 DX, 90 Xl, 92 xli, 97, 00, 04 and 07. Had em all. Brilliant cars.
They've been a great car for Irish buyers, as I said so many people of all ages have owned or driven them. The Irish peoples car!
I owned a 1974 corolla ke30 automatic the only respond was because l wanted to an auto Matic car
My first car in '88 was a KE35 Coupe. Loved it, started with a 1.2L engine, then fitted 1.3L, finished with 1.6L 2TB engine.
Amazing to see this still on the road, John. Thought the rust and the abuse would have nailed them all by this stage! This and the Datsuns saw the end to BL/BMC in Ireland (not that they needed a lot of help!), and gave all the other brands a helluva fright too, while they were at it. Grand review, thanks.
Thanks for that and yes I agree. Thames TV have a great period video about the first Datsuns in the UK which is amazing to watch and you can see exactly when they ended up hammering BL in sales. It's a great pity as BL cars and ARG weren't bad as such, just not built properly at times.
Had one of these. Was used as my wedding car for all the grooms men. Never gave a bit of trouble the registration was 79 ke 590. Also my dad had one red 939 OZJ.
Great memory Brendan. Thanks for the comment and hope to have a few more Toyota videos coming soon.
Had a red one of these,my first car .
I worked in Dublin for 6 months in 1980. I don't remember seeing these. What I do recall is the loads of Hino trucks. I'd never heard of Hino ( in UK ) before.
These were everywhere, they really got Toyota on the road in Ireland. Funny you mentioned Hino, another Toyota brand of heavy trucks. I was thinking of doing a podcast about the importer here, Pino Harris. Very interesting guy. The company now imports SAIC MAXUS vans, formerly LDV.
My dad owned one from 1978, unfortunately he had to let it go 23 years later due to financial constraints. I'm looking forward to own one😢
Thank you for the video, I subscribed right away.
My first car was a 1989 Corolla AE92 Liftback (1.6 Auto), my second and actual is a 1994 Corolla AE101 FX.
And... ...when I receive the heritage of my father, most likely I'll buy a KE30 Corolla, or a AE86.
I love classic cars.
Just working on more Toyota content to go up this week
@@JohnsGarageIreland 😎 I'm here and ready.
Just fund another favorite to buy, Celica TA40 😍
Great car of its time , I would love to have this model but hard to get parts and not enough parking space in my house.
Parking and storage space is the drawback for liking cars!
CAN you fix a electronic delco to a ke 30 car,
Toyota snould start Up making the ke3p again with all mod cons
So beautiful ❤️ can I buy IT
Love you 76corlla
460 OZL is 1981
Is the mobile phone mount original equipment ?
No, later addition by the owner in the year 2000. It was driven daily until then.
Mobile phones not really commonplace until the mid-90s.
@@Mancozeb100 it's a Nokia one too, I think for a 6210
I have one 1975
Would love to feature another one if you want to email me to johnosgarage@gmail.com
Where is someone in their 20s going to get their hands on a k30 they are like hens teeth at this stage
Poor road handling, poor crash protection and prone to rust.
The equal of the competition back in the 1970s then
My parents had two of these, both red both ultra reliable, many fond memories of those cars. Super quiet, so comfy and well finished off.
I love this car
