@@CubanRider Shame KTM wont release it for the 790 and I can't see there being a technical reason. Once you've had it on a bike it's hard to live without! haha
My last three bikes were 2019 Duke 790, 2016 SuperDuke 1290r, 2021 Hypermotard 950SP. Funny thing, hypermotard was my least favorite of the 3. Handling was awesome, but a dog on low and mid range compared to the KTM's. And that was with a taller rear sprocket, full exhaust system, and custom ECU flash. Seemed to just get louder, not really much more pull. Superduke was on another level, first bike I have regretted selling. Handling wasn't as good as the hyper, but low and mid pull just didn't end until you let off. I bet the 890 is the perfect bike except in the looks department.
I struggled to decide between the Duke 890 and a Street Triple Rs for a few months, ended up with the Triple but man my love for the duke hasn't died. But these roads remind me of Middle Tn / East Tn so much, safe riding!
I was considering 790 but it took too long to arrive my country so I opted for 950 instead. Haven't looked back since then. 950 is probably one of the best middleweight bike in its category. The 950 SP rider is really, really good.
For me as a tall guy it's the seat height of the Hyper that seals the deal. A new 890 KTM supermoto would be awesome. Riding a hyper 821 since 2015 and love it but the upgrades of the 950 are tempting, although the seat height did go down a little.
Right now, I'm in a precarious predicament of having to chose between these very 2 bikes. I've wanted a Hypermotard since it was first introduced. However, the 890R recently stole my eye. I was just accepted the loan, and need to make a choice by Tuesday which one to get. Right now I am currently at 80% ktm, and 20% ducati. My riding is a mix between mountain twisties, track days, and touring. What to dooooooo.
@@capostologlou I went with the KTM, and I'm very happy with it. It certainly has character and i like the engine more, however the ducati has better looks for me. The 890R isn't the best looking, but in the end, i think the engine and performance is what matters most to me.
Wonderful video of riding skills for sure! Do you miss that Duke? I've got a 19 MT09 and for some reason shopping around for the Duke 890R, the KTM SMT 890, or the BMW f900 XR.

She’s very good but a little heavy on direction changes. Furthermore 4 cylinders get boring, even low rpm ready ones like my K5. Would you suggest me that switch or not? Thank you.
Absolutely recommend it. The only reason I sold it is because the mountains are too far from where I live. This is the 890s natural environment, it's a beast on the curves.
that was great video. I do have one question. When riding behind someone on a road like this do you look at the person in front of you or do you look down the road?
I was using the lines of the rider in front of me who knows the road very well, but I was still focused on the road and what was coming ahead. Focusing on just the rider can be trouble because if he picks a wrong line or crashes you don't want to make the same mistake.
