    I’d imagine the A’s attendance has plummeted in Oakland largely due to fans being disgusted with ownership being cheap and having a foot out the door.

    What Jeremy isn’t mentioning is that these teams with new stadiums actually invested in their team like the braves, who have spent money. Also the knights were immediately successful and are home grown in Vegas. I doubt fisher would invest in the team in Vegas, when he already is spending a little over a billion dollars on the stadium and has to cover any overages that may incur while building the stadium.

    • @justinmorado9525

      And with the NHL expanding into the desert, the NHL purposely stacked the cards do Vegas would at least have a semi decent team.
      Teams were only allowed to protect 8 skaters from the expansion draft or 7 skaters if they wanted to protect a goalie.
      So if you had a great goaltending tandem and two prospects in your system you really liked, Vegas could choose one of your goalies and a skater from your 2nd line. Athletics are just bringing their AAAA club with them.

    The compression to the Indians and Bravs is laughable they had established fan bases already the new ball park's along with them spending money gave thier fans a rejuvenation to show up the A's haven't shown a willingness to spend money they just keep turning over thier roster after a period of time when they don't want to pay thier stars

  • @GregAlterton
    @GregAlterton ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The lead representative for the A's is oily, and untruthful. He's weaving an narrative which is false to placate or lull the members of the Committee into a sense that there are no problems with ponying up hundreds of millions of dollars to build the A's a ballpark. The truth is that John Fisher has driven this franchise into the ground, and refuses to spend money to rebuild. That has soured the fans on this ownership. Add on top of that the effort of the owner to cut-and-run from Oakland, and that compounds the attendance problem. The first factor (stripping the team of stars, and not replacing them) was a slap in the face to the fans. The second (cutting-and-running from Oakland) is not only a second slap in the face of the fans, but a slap in the face of the A's legacy. Fisher has successfully destroyed both: fan loyalty, and the A's legacy. And he claims that he needs a new home. No. The A's need a new owner. If the Vegas option implodes, and Fisher comes crawling back to Oakland, I don't think the City of Oakland should move forward from where they left off on Howard Terminal until Fisher sells the A's. The City should make that a condition to closing the deal: Fisher needs to be gone. Instead of re-entering negotiations with Fisher, the City of Oakland should get on the phone with Commissioner Manfred and tell him they will not take back the A's unless Fisher is gone. He is untrustworthy. He's cheap. He's disloyal to the history and to the fanbase. He's greedy. And he's not a good faith partner for the city. Nothing should move forward for a new home for the A's unless Fisher is gone. He's been owner for 18 years. He could have and should have solved the ballpark issue years ago. The situation of the team has deteriorated precisely because Fisher is not committed to making this team competitive and is not committed to putting a winner on the field. And just as Oakland shouldn't enter into renewed negotiations with Fisher, the State of Nevada and Clark Co. should not give the A's a dime until Fisher sells the team.

Now it's down to something like $105 million from the state in tax credits? And Fisher still wants to go for it? Dumbest billionaire in the country. Sure, the State and County will take the A's, if they can fleece the owner. Frankly, I don't want the A's back in Oakland if Fisher remains the owner. According to one the Astro players, tens of people came out! Yet these suits are hanging their hats on fans flying into Vegas to watch this Double-A talented A's. Fisher purposely tanked this team to limit any draw to watch this team in Oakland, so is he pledging to the people of Vegas he will reverse course and actually pay talent to come play in Vegas or will he still be the frugal minded money grubbing owner he has shown to be and shuffle players to keep lining his pockets all while hoping the franchise grows equity for him to eventually sell. @@vincesmith2499 I readily admit that I am a lifelong A's fan, so I have sentimentality at play as well. For me, I believe there is value having one of only 30 Major League Baseball teams in existence. (Sure, it might soon expand to 32, but Nashville is an almost certainty, and there is no guarantee the last team would go to Las Vegas.) I was in favor of the A's moving to Cisco Field in my hometown of Fremont, and I am in favor of the A's moving to my vacation hometown of Las Vegas. I believe both cities are better than Oakland, which helps explain why I never once even contemplated living in Oakland. Honestly, in addition to having a huge interest in baseball, I believe that baseball is advantageous to the community, both financially and for morale. I also firmly believe that the value of the A's will increase significantly overnight if they are approved to move to Vegas. At that point, Fisher will have all the incentives in the world to put a good team on the field and continue to grow the value of the team and try to be accepted in Vegas (like he never was in Oakland). It would be like a fresh opportunity in terms of his public persona. And especially with the new Stadium Authority having the ability to approve any ownership changes, that further reinforces the notion that Fisher would be in it for the long-term in Vegas.
