His ability to communicate messages, ideologies and deliver critique on subjects from a postmodernist standpoint is extremely valuable today (postmodernist era). But back then, technical skills in Art Schools were extremely important in regards to admission. It was skill/execution above concept. He lacked it in regards to the standards of that era. The good old days. Now you can turn a p*ss pot upside down, place it on a pedestal and 'wow' viewers & critiques. And it will probably still be more worth than someone who spent 2 months making a bronze casting. Ridiculous how the fcking postmodernist has changed the value balance of concept versus technique. How concept/execution rules.

J.R.R.Tolkien had this wonderful line about propaganda tricks in the Lord of the Rings, when he talked about the wizard Saruman speaking to the crowd. He says:
"For some the spell lasted only while the voice spoke to them, and when it spoke to another they smiled, as men do who see through a juggler’s trick while others gape at it. For many the sound of the voice alone was enough to hold them enthralled; but for those whom it conquered the spell endured when they were far away, and ever they heard that soft voice whispering and urging them. But none were unmoved; none rejected its pleas and its commands without an effort of mind and will, so long as its master had control of it...."

Germany issued debt-free and interest-free money from 1935 on, which accounts for Germany’s startling rise from the depression to a world power in five years. The German government financed its entire operations from 1935 to 1945 without gold, and without debt. • @prepperjonpnw6482
      @prepperjonpnw6482 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

That’s not quite accurate. It was after WWI that he began to piece together his opinions and views of what Germany should do and be. It was during the 1920’s when he saw all of the other countries around Germany especially France prospering and basically having one long party that seemed to never stop that he became more and more polarised in his views and illogical theories about why Germany wasn’t having a never ending party. It was due to the “punishments” imposed on Germany by the allies at the end of WWI that kept Germany from prospering the way the victors were. Also he saw that Germany was paying so much in reparations that there was very little left for the German government to operate correctly. And because it had to do with money he automatically assumed it was the Jews that were to blame partly because when he looked around he saw that only the Jews were prospering in Germany.
When he was serving during WWI he hadn’t experienced much of anything yet that would shape and give form to his irrational ramblings that you see in his behaviour and his rhetoric later on in the early to mid 1930’s. Most of what I just tried to express to you I learned at university while working on my degrees in History
(Specifically 1900-1950) and world economics in the 20th century. The rest I picked up from my teacher (who served in WWII) while learning to speak German and living in Germany. It was rather enlightening to hear what he had to say about that era especially considering he was in the German army during WWII. I also picked up a lot from my grandparents, my grandfather served in the British army during the war while my grandmother took care of their home in the south of England. So I had the rare opportunity to hear both sides of that conflict from people that lived through it and were giving me their first hand account of what it was like.
      Cheers

    Takeaways for effective propaganda:
    1) Speak like the people in the streets, not like the intellectual class.
    2) Use dramatic gestures and voice, colors, music, etc. - Be theatrical.
    3) Use rhetorical questions.
    4) Give people slogans, not arguments.
    5) Feed the people a steady diet of grievance/victimology.
    6) Grievances must be built on a grain of truth.
    7) Give the people enemies.
    8) Repetition using multiple media forms until you wear your audience out.
    9) Capitalize on your opponents propaganda to draw attention to your own cause.
    10) Model any techniques that you see working for anyone else.
    11) Make it seem like you have lots of ordinary people who agree with you.
    12) Destroy the economy or make people desperate or afraid in one or more ways.
    13) Make sure any lies you tell aren't too far from what people already believe - stretch the truth one step at a time.
    14) Overdramatize your personal history.
    15) Portray your enemies as subhuman.
    16) Replace all important existing symbols in society with symbols associated with your movement, (flags, etc.).
    17) Create rituals and require everyone to observe them.
    18) Carefully craft and protect every tiny aspect of your personal image.
    19) Make sure you fully use any emerging technology to get your image out.
    20) Practice. You don't have to get it right the first time. Create something, see how the audience reacts, adjust, create something new.
    21) Get support from the established classes.
    22) Never let a crisis go to waste. Be willing to exaggerate the crisis and your role in solving it.
    23) Any publicity is good publicity.
    24) Position yourself as an agent of change and your opponent as the protector of the status quo.
    25) Make no specific promises and explain no policies.
    26) Trick your opponents into thinking someone else is a higher priority threat.
    27) Make your opponents underestimate you and want to appease you.

Al Sharpton uses these quite regularly. Obama absolutely fits this description. Steve Jobs was really good at these. Bill Gates does them, too, but in a different way. Elizabeth Holmes is the peak of this behavior. The Proud Boys and KKK belong in here. So does BLM. The GOP are clear about supporting election results when they win like Kari Lake who talked about voter fraud while providing no evidence for it until she won the GOP primary for Arizona governor in Aug 2022. The GOP are clear on being anti democratic as they support Viktor Orban, Hungary's authoritarian leader. Like the GOP, Orban redrew electoral districts to prevent opposition parties winning the election. The GOP are clear on not supporting poorer Americans with their policies to sunset medicare, medicaid and social security legislation every 5 years ( Lindsey Graham) and ensure the poorer 40% pay income tax to have"skin in the game" ( Rick Scott). The GOP are clear on protecting their mega donors, passing legislation in Nov 2017 to reduce taxes paid by billionaire hedge funds and increasing exemptions of investment gains and estate tax and reducing income tax paid by tax saving pass through entities. GOP large donors rewarded them for passing this act making $31m in donations in 60days from Nov- Dec 2017. You know what you are voting for when you support the GOP.

    • @pammcdan
      @pammcdan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

It was mostly the French who pushed for the harsh treatment of Germany after WWI. Russia was embroiled in a revolutionary problems and just wanted to secure a border, America and England basically went along with what France and Russia wanted. France suffered the most loss in both lives and torn up lands during the war. They wanted to severely punish Germany, hoping they would never have to go to war with them again. But their punishment, especially in paying retribution, coincided with a worldwide monetary Depression and paved the way for Germany to rise up against the punitive measures that had been put on them. The British and Americans did feel like the treaty was unfair and tried to get the French to renegotiate, but were unsuccessful.

Certainly during the Trump administration the Great Orange put forth falsehoods on a daily basis, told everyone scientists were a hoax and then instructed his followers to ignore the national media's "Fake News" while he himself bought up all the local TV news stations and started giving them his own scripted news.
Then we had the massive disinformation going around Facebook during election cycles, but everyone was repulsed when Facebook said they were going to sift through it and remove the lies. After all, how do we know if any removed lies were truths? The same goes for Biden's 'disinformation board'.
Americans seem to prefer a steady diet of lies and truths, and then to glance over it without checking & choose whatever news they want to believe.
