I lost my big brother at 15 due to addiction related causes, and at 21 I lost my big sister to the same cause. 24 now and I’m finally processing all of this. I know my sister self medicated, and I never got to know my brother well enough, but I think he self medicated for the same reason, it’s much easier to self medicate than to face the psychiatrist and explain what’s really wrong in fear of shallow judgement. These days with the right doctor a courageous mind and powerful spirit, we can overcome that. Reach out for help, and when you feel disrespected, go higher. Report that motherfucker. Because they don’t deserve their degree. Together if we use our pain and turn it into motivation we can change the old school methods and overall perception of the psychiatric field, and make it more welcoming for our youth to embrace. ❤
