Clay Shelor (first cousin to Sammy Shelor) invited me to see you play at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC. just when Aloha From Nashville came out. I was expecting an acoustic show..... You, Kenny Malone and Danny Thompson opened my musical sensibilities in a way that continues today. It was the first time I had witnessed the communication and expression that musicians can share. Immediate, vital, joyous, moving.
I listen to John Martyn all the time and never knew I was hearing your friend Danny Thompson there as well. I love learning all this lore through your New Moon series. Thanks, Darrell Scott.
I am sure You have no difficulties finding great music for the next NMNM, but I feel obliged to mention Danny Thompson's collaborations with David Sylvian on the album "Secrets Of The Beehive", especially the track "Orpheus", and with Kate Bush on "Hounds Of Love" and "The Sensual World".
