  • This is a video was made for beginner/intermediate racers but is also good for experienced racers. This is a topic that you could probably spend a couple of hours on because there are a lot of differing opinions when it comes to proper technique so this is just my personal thoughts on the topic.
I discuss paddling technique for the marathon canoe racer. This is a compilation of things I have learned over the years and have taken from more impressive paddlers than myself including but not limited to Rebecca Davis, Mike Fries, Chris Proulx, and the Schlimmers to name a few.
I apologize for the sometimes choppy video. This has been my first video in some time and my presentation is not quite there.

What you're saying is almost exactly what the outrigger community is teaching now with a little variation on the exit. I wasn't paddling for years, but now I'm back I've been stealing all the traditional and C1 info I can find. Great video dude!

kevin, can you please do a short 2-3 minutes of just you paddling on the concept 2? There's no actual paddling in this great instructional video and it would be great to see the whole thing: power, reset, switch sides, etc all together: please?

I will try to put a 2-3 min video of my current technique on the water here in the next month or so now that racing season is over.

Thanks for the video Kevin. If you had a few drills to share, it could make a really helpful follow up video! I'm new to the sport and often find it tough to know if I'm getting it right when I'm on the water by myself.
