I think what we can take from this is how scary it is to get caught up in our ways and stuck in your habits in this game. To get better you have to adapt or end up like this guy, stuck in gold forever blaming your teammates.
Even if your tm8 whiffs a ball that leads to a goal or even if he misses a easy save there is always something you could have done to prevent your tm8 from getting into that position in the first place. I'm not saying every goal that you concede is your fault, but I am saying that every goal you concede is never 100% completely your tm8's fault
That's a fact. How much has he actually tried to improve rather than mindlessly playing. I took a long break early on like season 3 then I saw how high the skill cap can be and I started researching how to actually get better. Self awareness pointing out your own mistakes isn't natural for most people and it's one of the few ways to actually grow in anything...

He said that he didn't use discord because all of his mics didn't want to work. I dunno, to me that's a red flag that something is a little off in his brain
@LyonSpear i highly doubt those were diamonds, but even if they were he also has a teammate who can cover his mistakes. Put him in a 1v1 against a diamond and lets see how he does
i think blaming your teamates for mistakes and losses is fine if they actually made you lose, but dwelling on it is stupid, just move on at the end of the day if you deserve a rank you will eventually get there
There are times when a team mate makes the big mistake that leads to the loss, but if you go back and look at the replay, there are also gonna be a bunch of mistakes or misplays you made that could have either prevented a goal, or secured a goal. Acknowledge mistakes of course, but you can't help them, you can help yourself.
you just have to adapt to your teammate's play style, 30 seconds is enough to understand if he's a ball chaser, a coward or reasonable there's no reason to rotate properly with a ball chaser, it won't work, just play very defensively like you're on a 1v1 and let him believe he's carrying
Quite literally THE best example I could find of any one who has a problematic mindset is just self sabotaging. Teammates are never an issue, ever. They may be slumping for one game but possibly drag you up the next, the key is to play consistent, with a proper gameplan and solid mindset.
That’s cap. Teammates are usually the reason you win or lose. Getting a bad teammate when the other 2 players are good is an immediate death scentence if you are all close in skill even if you are the best in the lobby
@@rayzersharpp 2v1 is so free. One person challenges and forces the ball and the other hits the free ball. Not even a pro is immune to losing to that. Just started playing two weeks ago and have hit plat for 2v2s playing with a friend who also started at the same time as me. It's just basic communication and effort. "hey im getting back" "hey im going for the ball" is legit all you need to say and you can get out of gold with a little bit of skill. We completely miss the ball sometimes or set up the other team with a bad hit. We laugh at our mistakes and we never blame each other. Anytime I make a mistake my friend is like it's all good I could have done better and when he makes a mistake I do the same thing. @@doctorjawline7608 in RL, whoever has the best spawn goes for kickoff - 10k guy had the best spawn, he did not go for kickoff, instead drives towards the ball as if he was going for the kickoff, after which he does a weird turn rotating _in front_ of his teammate, says the way he plays is so that whoever is in the back goes to kickoff (which explains a lot about his rank), proceeds to go to goal, Sunless loses kickoff bc he wasn't meant to go for kickoff and was expecting his teammate - the 10k guy - with the best spawn to go for it, opponent takes the shot, Mr. 10k guy can't save the shot (which kinda defeats the purpose of being a goalie) and ends up conceading a goal in the stupidest way possible, while still trying to make a case for himself. I hope he goes back to silver and gets perma-stuck there, away from decent players.
yeah i just got out of plat man it took me like 400 hours bro. All I’m saying is just be more defensive and put shots on net. A decent amount of time they will go in
@hasninehostages correction: its the hardest easy transition in rocket league it took me 400 hours to get from bronze to plat, but 200 to get to diamond (note that i never did any training except to learn easy techniques like half flip) and i can tell you that the most important thing that wil hugely improve your game is just watching the rotation tutorial videos, only once was enough for me and immediatelly i saw incredible results currently sitting at a comfortable, freshly hit champ 2 with 800 hours yotal play time and believe it will take me at least 250 hours of training to get at least close to gc
OMG, watching him play was like looking in the mirror. I make the same exact moves as he does, whiffs n all. I also think the same way about my good intentions versus my teammates. This is eye opening honestly.
For real... I've started prioritizing rotations and i'll just let my teammates go after every ball like they normally would, then save the shot the opponents double commit to and send it back into their goal. Best strategy I have tried yet!
Watching this just now it's suddenly become clear to me how much has happened to the ranks since. The guys from the final lobby do not look how diamond players do right now.

Ive been playing since day one release and haven't gotten past plat. I have had many breaks but always come back. I feel this man. Its not the teammates that hold him back its his mentality towards them. I play with randoms and my strategy is to spend the first 2 minutes playing slow and analyzing my team and opponents. Once i get an idea of how they play i start to get more aggressive and fast knowing how my team will react
Yeah, the order I was taught was diagonal/left/faking and I picked up on the diagonal automatically because it's common sense and was told that left has right of way... (Side note:kinda just a rant next about understanding this dude JSYK) Blaming tm8s only goes so far but I understand him having been D2 dragged to G2, I've tried everything from ignoring teammates seamingly purposely sabotaging the game which some DO do for the littlest thing ((whiffs and I'm not there to auto-save it because I put trust in them but it's my fault)) to just giving up and playing for the other team to possibly encourage them to win even more ((stroke their ego)). AND even worse, they can't understand your level of skill so they think you're ballchasing and not rotating properly because they weren't positioned in the right spot to make a necessary shot to gain ground. But also then again those ranks are for DROPSHOT. For 3's it's about 50% better and I've gone D2 for 2 seasons and placed D for them both both, currently been dragged to p2 and crawling back to Diamond, 1/4 of the time it is my fault since both my controllers have stick drift that comes and goes at varying levels by the second and also in totality just ignore button pushes (though I suspect the ignores can be an old aged console issue).

Currently unranked, like 110 hrs in. Can't aerial, miss open nets, and just generally suck. But it is definitely fun competing with other terrible players when they come up. I solo queue 99% of the time, no one to play with that I personally know
This was a very interesting video. Mindset aside, the one thing that still baffles me, is that surely after 10,000 hours on the game your mechanics would be able to solely carry you into champ at least. I honestly feel that while his mindset was bad, if he had spent even 5% of those hours in freeplay, just randomly hitting the ball around, not even explicitly practicing anything, he would be so much better.
He dribbles, goes for aerials(at least in the video, he hits them all consistently), he has the mechanics. His game sense is just so horrendous that it has stopped him from ever ranking up. This is a textbook case of Dunning-Kruger effect, except that he never actually thinks he's bad and is stuck at the first curve. He was in denial the whole video, making up excuses for terrible plays. His teammate dribbling the ball and he cuts in from the side "trying to pinch" that's straight up ball chasing. He would do a lot better in 1s, he doesn't seem to like the team play aspect of the game.

It wasn't though. He quite literally practiced and rose in rank. The dude never practiced, never accepted advice, and consistently stayed in low ranks. The instant he respected someone enough to listen to their advice and practice, he rose up in rank. Also, you do realize that he faced those Diamond players _after_ he improved from practice, right? He was Gold 2 before the video happened. He then improved to Plat 2 after practicing, then faced Diamond players, in which are only 2-3 ranks from his own. This video actually proves it was his fault for his rank all along. Had he just practiced a bit from the start and ignored teammates, he would easily be Champion by now.

There are times when a team mate makes the big mistake that leads to the loss, but if you go back and look at the replay, there are also gonna be a bunch of mistakes or misplays you made that could have either prevented a goal, or secured a goal. Acknowledge mistakes of course, but you can't help them, you can help yourself.
you just have to adapt to your teammate's play style, 30 seconds is enough to understand if he's a ball chaser, a coward or reasonable

Not really tho. I have less than 2k hours in the game and idc what tm8 I get but I'll clap 2 golds with one hand.
@@HoraryHellfire yeah, with all due respect to him it's honestly really hard to stand his excuses for every mistake he makes, and then blaming it all on his teammates.
@@Theactualgamer1 I found myself in pretty much the same situation as this guy. I had 500 hrs. (not nearly 10000 though) in the game and was still in gold. I'd hop on play some solo queue just for fun, with no dedication to improvement. I then started doing free play and played with a friend (with less hrs.) and actually tried to improve. 150 hrs. later and I'm in diamond-diamond 2.
@@Theactualgamer1 he doesn’t take the game seriously... well done
him having 10000 hours and being gold and me having 72 hours and being diamond 1 by Solo queuing
"Gods Dad"
Yeah, that name should tell you everything you need to know lol...

@@eliarnold8523 in a way implying he's better than god itself
He probably is toxic or people hate on his name and then is toxic...
Its a loosing spiral
@@thebestever42 loooool my name is PLZDONTFFKTHX
It seems like when he's tilted, his inconsistent actions make his teammates confused. Even being a ball chaser is better cause at least it is consistent.
Definitely agreed!
The perfect way of saying:
"I have over 10000 hours on rocket league"
"Oh, so that means you're extremely skilled, correct?"
or you leave the game running when not playing
Minute 7:24 and I literally have tears in my eyes. I have about 3000 hours in Rocket League and am a Gold3 - Plat1 player. But my reason, and actually I expected it here, is my hardware and my bad internet connection. I've seen as many blue screens in RL as SunlessKhan has uploaded videos.
I really love the competitive, turn-based principle of the game and the challenge with toxic players, of which there are only a few^^, to make their day a little bit better, because most of these souls just lack validation and a little more love in the real world World.
_If you read this and you feel me, be sure my soul is hugging you._
This is Rocket League!
btw im Dia 2 now, bought a new pc ^^

Omg I forgot about that, this is so true

Mans didn't expect anything he just liked RL and didn't mind the frustration.
Skyler Kyle true, but he did mention he’d like to rank up

Bruh this guy makes more excuses than the popular girl getting an A
😂
true
lol
@Yuri Lopes nah he kept blaming his teammates, not once did he say "sometimes its my fault we lose". I feel like people that think its always someone elses fault are either delusional or stupid. If he ever thought "alright i got a concept of how i want the game to be played, but my teammates are too low ranked to recognize that and they perma ball chase. Maybe if i adjust my playstyle in some way and actually rank up i will be able to play like i want with better teammates?" he would reach high plat easily. He never once thought that during his 10k hours, just perma tilting expecting some gold 12 year old kids to play like he wants to lmao
It’s not his fault, he gets stressed Ik how it’s like because I have this problem too
Ok I swear I used to play with this dude on PlayStation I think his name was something along the lines of “sledgehammergod” he sounds so familiar. I was playing with him when I was gold. Sunless if you see this comment I’m dying to know it’s killing me. I’d love to play with this dude again after 3 years if it’s the right guy.
Wait till this guy figures out you don’t have teammates in 1s
When arsenal said “turn brain off score” this guy forgot the second part
lmao
kinda mean but ok
