The update worked perfectly on my RX-S600 NETWORK receiver. It would have been nice if Yamaha included the written procedure here, but that is another thread. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my receiver supports MusicCast since the Android App requests pushing the "Connect" button and this receiver doesn't have one. Oh, and neither does the RX-S601 which is supposed to support MusicCast. Is there a way to get this receiver to work?

If you are interested in written instructions related to the RX-S600 or any other Yamaha AV product, please refer to the product’s manual which can be downloaded by going to Yamaha.com/av and searching for the product. On the product’s page, there is a “Support” tab which will allow you to download the owner’s manual. As you have noted, the RX-S600 does not support MusicCast. However, the RX-S601 does support MusicCast. The “CONNECT” button is the same as the “STRAIGHT” button.

Highly recommended you do NOT use the Multicast app to upgrade the firmware. Use a USB stick instead and manually do it. Multicast told me there was a firmware update available (it turns out there wasn't a newer one). I had a failure updating (for some unknown reason) and it has left my firmware with an error. Now I have to send it in for servicing to clear the error. I can't restore the old firmware or flash over the existing now. I did everything right using the Multicast software and it still failed. The receiver still works thankfully but there is no way to clear the error with the firmware version reporting.
Hi, the update worked fine on my RX A 660 but since then I have no video output. the HDMI cable is plugged in, I just tested it on a computer and it is not faulty nor is the TV. I have a red "HDMI" on the AVR screen when I select an HDMI input (maybe this is normal but I don't remember). I mean no output at all. No output of my inputs and also no display of AVR options, music relevant info, etc. I'm a bit annoyed...
+averagemellowguy Go the Yamaha website and download the latest firmware to a USB jump drive. Perform the update from the USB rather than the network. You should then be all set.
Ciao, volevo sapere se quando ascolto radio, oppure TV normale, o qualche altra periferica che non sia un film in HDMI, se suonano tutte le casse più il subwoofer, oppure solo il destro e sinistro anteriore ??
