    Mad to think that just 10 years ago standing starts with the fuel cell hanging out behind the rear axle was considered fine.

      And just as Mad to realise that Bad things happen so that good things can be improved.

    • @btun324
      @btun324 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess is the gap in the gloves allowed fuel or something similar to penetrative into the glove as there is a gap between the suit and gloves and can become an oven if not careful, example would be romain grosjean in the Bahrain 2020 f1 race and his crash and fireball

      @@btun324 i saw the f1 crash but what if the fire got in his gloves

    • @btun324
      @btun324 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fire suit and gloves are separate pieces of equipment, so it would be like wearing a long sleeve shirt and a pair of gloves, there will be a gap between the two which In this case fuel can get between and start igniting, so it's basically burning against his skin so by removing the gloves he can air them out to remove the fuel and smother them with his suit or the grass

    I always thought the fuel tank being moved forward of the rear axle was in response to this accident but having rewatched it just now they said it was already planned and this crash simply proved why it was needed.

    I miss the old Aussie Holden and Aussie Ford days. Instead of the Current Mustang Cup. But obviously this can’t happen as Aussie manufacturing is gone. I think it’s time to do truly
    international racing with all manufacturers competing in the same format as the past. Then Supercars will survive in the future....

    • @QuestionReality777
      @QuestionReality777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mikepearson2367 That’s when the cars were Australian made and not American imports. I suppose there was a different feeling seeing 2 Aussie made cars compete. Seeing the taxi services and police use the same body shells. The series has lost that ‘feeling’. It needs a refresh. Something people connect with. Perhaps current production cars, TC Masters or a truly international flavor may be the answer. I don’t know. But a Mustang vs Opal cup doesn’t appear to be a winning formula in the domestic market....

    Reindler ditched his gloves and rolled in the grass pretty quick. I remember seeing this in 2011 and thinking that you can't always see alcohol fire, especially in bright sunlight. I remember wondering if E85 (ethanol) flames on cloth would be as invisible as methanol fire is. The fact of alcohol fire flames being so hard to see in daylight is why whenever an Indy car is refueled (they run on methanol), one of the pit crew squirts the refueling cap area with water after the refueling hose is disconnected--just to make sure.
