I feel Mei's story is one to be pitied, not hated. She went crazy in the palace. I can imagine if she didn't have Jia or Wei's influences on her, she could've been just as strong an ally to Ruyi as Souxin or HaiLan. In the end, she fell to her grief over her ill-fated child. Stating no matter what he looked like his mother would always love him. She was so young, to go through so much. I've heard of concubines in the Forbidden Palace going crazy from loneliness, or postpartum, or being infertile. I feel Mei's story is one that represents that well.
@@luiscarlosmotasantos729 she had terrible ppd and kinda psychotic episodes.. she was going crazy little by little and the pseudoscientific treatments didn't help . She tried to end her suffering by ending herself but she was saved and condemned. So she took a path of destruction and committed something that will inevitably kill her . Basically " if you don't let me kill myself, do it yourself" . She was both psychotic and suicidal. She was also very young, an older teen at best when she entered.
I have no pity for those who cannot think for themselves - i only pity those affected by their dumb choices. It is very curious that Jia had to use her own blood while painting the sutra banners. I never heard of that.
You have to understand that Mei is VERY young . She was a teen when she entered . Mei was doing all these things not because she was totally dumb but because she was losing her mind from severe depression. She probably never heard of fish being poisoned with mercury and that causing harm to a baby....sure as heck a musician wasn't taught shit about biomagnifacation of heavy metals 🌚. Jia on the other hand was very clever and well informed specifically about these stuffs .
To learn like that, at the very minimum, 6 or 7 years if you're extremely talented and prodigious. For a regular person, 14-20 years *To learn to that level
The farther and farther I got through this show, the more I realized the primary villain is actually the Emperor, who allows his judgment to be clouded by lust, vindictiveness, jealousy, and his massive ego, and who is willing to horribly abuse the one person who has done her best to stand by him through everything.
She was a pawn by the emperor's mother and the king caught on and didn't punish her directly but made her give another concubine a portion that made her infertile. So in lieu of that, the king got an excuse to kill her
She wanted to die ( really bad depression from losing a baby from poisoning), but wasn't let . So she turned another concubine infertile by feeding her harmful stuff , confessed and got the death penalty . The other concubine was set by Dowager , just like Mei ; so it was a middle finger to the Dowager like " f u , because you threw me into a miserable life , so I make your other pawn useless " .

You're wrong, they didn't go crazy, they committed suicide.

mei was maybe most brave girl on harem
This was one of the saddest deaths.

I understand that it is to demonstrate his repentance through pain.
@@luiscarlosmotasantos729 Thank You friend.
Earlier in the show the 1st empress also wrote sutras in her own blood as a sign of self sacrifice to show respect/seek help

The pipa is such a beautiful sounding instrument. She plays it so well too. How many years does it take to learn the pipa?

How sad and cold blooded of the empreor to h ave others do his the dirty work.

Feels like a succession of "crime and punishment". Not pleasant at all.
Can someone tell me that what she had done to become the death penalty... ...
Cos I don't get the whole full episode over here~

mei pin, find your beloved son
So, you can't blame Jia for a suspicion, but you can abuse and torture Chunghui to death for a hairpin.
