    JT thanks for doing this video! I just ordered the steel pan part# 68362041AC for my 14 RAM 1500 couple days ago after doing some research. Actually, this pan is used in both the 850RE (Make) & 8HP75(Buy) transmissions in Jeep Wrangler application. The 8HP70 & 8HP75 both utilize the same case design. The part #68362041AC includes the pan, filter and pan gasket. Really priced reasonable anywhere from $120~$140 depending where one orders from online. Dealer will want $180 or more! Filter replacements are a reasonable $40. Better than paying $280-$320 for the plastic filter pan! Servicing of these 8HP series transmission is easy to do. Just follow the proper fill procedure. Nothing to it! Cost of the fluid is a discussion for another day!

    I know several fleet police departments that switched over to the metal wrangler oil pans & replacement filters 🚔

    Great video. I have wondered about these ZF transmissions with the filters integrated into the pan. When I had one of these 8-speeds in a Ram pickup, the dealer refused to do a full trans service (even though I was willing to buy the pan/filter assembly) while the pickup was still under warranty. These transmissions have excellent reputations but agree that servicing the trans helps it live longer

    They save money we spend more,but i could see it being difficult to secure something like that on the plastic pan durable enough to last for some time,heat,metal,and plastic a bad combination if you ask me,especially under pressure

    I replaced my plastic pan on my zf 6 auto on bmw with a aluminum one a few years back from rockauto. When I got my chrysler 300 I started looking for one.

    I’ll definitely be switching over to the steel pan on my 392 when I service the trans! This would be soooo much cheaper in the long run.

    Honda recommends 60K transmission service and there is a filter and a screen you have to clean/change. 🙂

      I think you should use the Mopar/dorman collaboration eco paper transmission pan... 😜 Biodegradable and safer for the environment

    What’s the Mopar Part # for the Metal Pan and Filter? Does it have a replacement Gasket or is integrated into the pan like the Plastic one? Is the Gasket Reusable?

    Chrysler is not the only vehicle that requires special ATF fluid Honda has their special ATF fluid which, is made by Mobil Oil. 🙂

      toyota uses their own as well...long gone are the days of just using dexron/mercon for everything.

    • @frederickwoodard9551
      @frederickwoodard9551 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michelle-lz8tg It is a Dextron/Mercon ATF but, a special kind because Honda requires special sealer additives and conditioner additives that ordinary Dextron/Mercon ATF simply doesn’t have and you have to go to the Honda dealership to get it they don’t have it in a ordinary auto parts store same thing with constant variable transmission (CVT) ATF fluid and a lot of front wheel drive transaxle transmissions require CVT fluid. 🙂

    Does the metal one have a drain plug? If not, it seems weird bolt on filter no drain.

    • @michelle-lz8tg
      @michelle-lz8tg หลายเดือนก่อน

      most automatic transmissions have been like this for decades...forces you to take off the pan to get to the filter so you can clean the clutch material sludge out of the bottom of it.

    Great video, i have a question, I have a Cherokee, 2.4 lt 2wd, 2015, I think they come with a ZF9sp transmission. Can you use Valvoline ATF in the transmission?

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have done several drain and re fills on those 9 speeds using the Valvoline fluid. Because thats how the service coupon was sold. Weve had absolutely no problems as a result from doing this.

    Now that was really wild why not just use the steel pans where they can be serviced at the owner's discretion without having to spend excess amount of money great job JT
