Really shows Linda’s versatility here. I can imagine a Ghostbusters moment in the control room when they realised the content they had to work with. I guessing they all looked at each other and all thought “ who we gonna call”, get Leland🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Replacing drums without a click track, has been that same challenge for me at times, especially in rubato and/or previously conducted segments. We "professional" musicians/singers CAN absorb subtle, non linear movements after multiple repetition. The human brain's capacity to learn and remember milliseconds of variation amazes me. It does require repetition however. Walking in and doing it with as few passes as possible is enough to make anyone slug the music stand. Although not working on the level of backing up Linda on Pirates, I feel your pain of days gone by. DAWs have proven to often be our friend. Who knew? Still, God bless live musicians. Your playback of these excerpts brought me to tears. Not only because of the vocals but the precision you achieved.

Lee, your honesty and transparency are so appreciated, especially in these days of egotistical nonsense spewed by flash-in-the-pan musicians. To hear YOU say a session was "hard" gives hope to all us amateurs desperately plunking out the notes as we listen and watch TH-cam videos. Love your channel, please keep it going after this pandemic mess is over.

Leland: that was a tough assignment. I couldn't imagine what it was like to step into another universe and be in sync. What a pleasure to rebound from your difficulty to Linda Ronstadt. Ms Ronstadt has taken off the top of my head, or conversely, melted my heart in every song I've heard. There isn't a single piece of her singing that fails to transport me. I can't think of another female vocalist who could infuse in me the ecstacy Linda Ronstadt does in every genre she has chosen. Thanks for sharing this.

Linda is stunningly sweet and supple in her voice. Todd Rundgren was influenced by the works of G and S.
You can hear their influence In his “ Lord Chancellors nightmare Song”, “ Emperor of the Highway”,
“The Carousel Burned down”, “Song of the Viking “, to name a few.
Todd Rundgren is a vastly under-appreciated artist.

I was cringing during that first song. I couldn't imagine stepping into that with or without a chart. You have to be a genius to be able to do that!!! Linda is my favorite all time female artist. She just flat had it. I don't think the song "when will I be loved" had been out long at all and on that tour Doug Danmore was playing Steel and some rhythm guitar in her band at that time but when I watched the concert I was swept off my feet because Linda just absolutely rocked and again she's just absolutely amazing with her vocals and sings right in the pocket and the band was great as well!!! If there's any that hasn't seen the concert back then you need to because from the beginning to the end will absolutely leave you speechless!!!!

This post justly takes its place alongside Billy Cobham, Toto, Dolly Parton, Barbara Streisand, JT & JB et al.
Thank you so much for pulling back the curtain and letting us Sklarites have a sneak peak every day. So flippin' grateful

Omg, I'm laughing my ass off at the complexity of that score with zero cues. Man, that's why they called you. Nobody else coulda' done that. So happy to see you have a TH-cam channel, Mr. Sklar, you've been a part of my musical vocabulary since I was about 6 or 7, on the early James Taylor records, which was the first thing I learned to play. Thank you.

"Dying is easy, It's comedy that's hard" - Alan Swann (My Favorite Year)
I've always loved "Modern Major General".
Reminds of Todd Rundgren's "Lord Chancellor's Nightmare Song"
or Randy Rainbow's parodies of G&S.

I am big fan of Gilbert and Sullivan. This is a pretty effective and pleasing result, even though this is not core repertoire for Linda. Gosh, that high E flat by Linda at the end of Poor Wandering One! Impressive. She actually is naturally more toward the soprano end of the scale - stronger there than the low end.
