If you replace the hard wheels with the smallest wheels with inflatable tires they sell, that seat becomes unbeatable. You can roll over anything instead of it coming to a halt on everything! Makes for a much better experience.
Thank you for the excellent video! I bought the ICON seat after trying out both seats you evaluated. As an ASE Master Technician, I went with the high-quality massive steel construction, the weight, sturdiness, and seating comfort of the ICON. The Icon seat is very well padded underneath a soft fairly thick (maybe 1/8" - 1/4") color cover that is resistant to oils and solvents It is easily cleaned. I am used to a Snap-On seat at work but needed this one for use in my home shop. The Snap-On is three times the price though but yes, it will be higher quality too, like heavy-duty ball bearings in BOTH the wheel axles and casters but for me, it's not worth paying the price for the home shop. The ICON has castor ball bearings but no bearing in the wheel axles. This mechanic seat comes almost completely assembled right out of the box. There were only three sub-assemblies: the seat unit, the base unit, and the pneumatic unit. The casters were already assembled to the heavy plate. Just put the three units together no bolts or screws are required. Takes about two minutes and you are done! The base unit is large to provide super support and there are two large rectangular trays built into the base with thick magnetic pads that can be used to hold ferrous tools. I immediately put two coats of NuFinish wax on all the metal parts to help prevent rusting. I usually use this at the lowest setting where my thighs are level and parallel to the rolling surface. This makes it very easy to scoot around. The variable height really does make a huge difference adapt to people of different heights. The unit was a great deal for $100 + tax. This should last many years if waxed occasionally. Very satisfied.
Skip the gardening pads and get a Husky knee pad from Home Depot. Much better foam, bigger, and doesn’t deform after use. I think that Harbor Freight stool is the better choice of the two you showed. Thanks for the video
If you like the roller knee thing they make a special deal for people that do flooring. Some of them have a little chest rest. Yeah check out the flooring knee wheel things. They have a seat and some have chest rests.
Thanks for the review Josh. I'm in need of a new detailing chair and that Maxshine unit seems to be what I need. I like the idea of the removable smaller platform and the storage area.
Picked up the griot's last week. Will test it out with my setup this weekend unless it continues to rain... Assembly wasn't too bad. Just gotta pay attention to washers
Nice, my problem is pavers. The wheels hang up, making rolling hard. At 6'8" and 350 lbs, my choices are limited. 5 inch, good, hard seat and hard wheels, bad. Looked at the Vyper series, but price..yikes!
I wouldn't be surprised if Maxshine is paying a royalty to Griots to use the modular creep seat. When Griots launched their newer detailing seat with the integrated creeper, they said they patented the design after seeing their older seat replicated by other brands.
It’s not exactly the same. It looks the same exact base just with ouch the modular creeper attachment. If you dont need that part then the one at harbor freight is a great option!
love all Icon tools, the chair absolutely sucks…period. if HF failed at anything….it was this chair.. the grants isn’t way better and more useful..HF needs a better product testing team…..
Harbor freight has an identical looking shop seat like the max shine maybe you can do a review on both.
Yea I’ve seen it. It looks like it’s the same just without the modular attachment on top that turns in to a second creeper.
yup I have that one from harbor freight just don’t really use it as my driveway is steep so I would end up rolling down with it if I used it
Even Griots has something similar to the MaxShine one
Probably all made from the same factory in China with different brand names slapped on.

LOL, Hey, we're not judging! Sometimes we can all use a little picker upper.
Loved the fun music for the spin test! I know it seemed silly, but showing how easily and fluidly the rolled was great. Very nice review 👌
Hi josh I found one at our local Costco for 79 cdn like the maxshine without the 2in1 feature thanks
Skip the gardening pads and get a Husky knee pad from Home Depot. Much better foam, bigger, and doesn’t deform after use. I think that Harbor Freight stool is the better choice of the two you showed. Thanks for the video
Good job my friend!!! perfect video!!! like 8
After pondering this for months, I ordered the Griots version yesterday. Josh you are killing me….
Great, as always. Love ur sense of humor. I'll definitely get one through ur channel
If you like the roller knee thing they make a special deal for people that do flooring. Some of them have a little chest rest. Yeah check out the flooring knee wheel things. They have a seat and some have chest rests.
FYI Maxshine sells the mini creeper and you can purchase the padding separately as well
Thanks for the demo
Check out the Ironton rolling work seat for $20 at Northern tool! It's mostly plastic, but does the job.
I have the Red one from Harbor freight. Works great pad doesn't stay on very well though
Fell off mines a few times.
The pad on the Grant's is made to be taken off and used as a knee pad. However some prefer to secure it with adhesive.
Adam’s also has a similar creeper like this Max Shine one.
I been eyeing that Icon one since I seen it last week.
I like it alot
Good comparison I was leaning towards GriotsGarage but now I am seriously considering the Max Shine one
You are having to much fun lol, great review Josh 👍😁
Thanks for the review Josh. I'm in need of a new detailing chair and that Maxshine unit seems to be what I need. I like the idea of the removable smaller platform and the storage area.
Bought the Torin TR6300 on Amazon. Got very high ratings.
Harbor freight has a copy of the maxshine one as well
It’s close. Its from grants and it doesn’t have the modular part that disconnects. But other than that it looks very similar!
harbor freight also has a basic one from Pittsburgh for 25 bucks. its decent
Hey Josh, can you do a review on the multiple dirt/grit traps for our wash buckets? 😊
Picked up the griot's last week. Will test it out with my setup this weekend unless it continues to rain... Assembly wasn't too bad. Just gotta pay attention to washers
Yea it took me about 5 min but yea washer placement was the thing to pay attention to
6:22 having too much fun! Get back to work 😂
Great informative video as always!! Hope to get the maxshine one soon
Thanks
Nice, my problem is pavers. The wheels hang up, making rolling hard. At 6'8" and 350 lbs, my choices are limited. 5 inch, good, hard seat and hard wheels, bad. Looked at the Vyper series, but price..yikes!
My next purchase from Maxshine
Nice!
👍👍
Can we get an updated pressure washer setup that you use or recommend for mobile detailing? Or are you still using the Ryobi 1600?
I wouldn't be surprised if Maxshine is paying a royalty to Griots to use the modular creep seat. When Griots launched their newer detailing seat with the integrated creeper, they said they patented the design after seeing their older seat replicated by other brands.
Interesting… there are a lot out there that look the same just without the integrated creeper so it’s possible
Have you ever tried the North Star 3000psi eletric pressure washer? cant tell if the green works is better or not
Neighborhood probably thought you lost it when you were wheeling around testing stools. Lol.
Can the wheels be replaced on the Icon chair? I'd consider if I could put a couple wheels with brakes on them as my driveway is a little sloped.
And the harbor freight one is currently 59.00 dollars till February 19.
Does Harbor Freight still have 20-40% off coupons regularly?
I got the DeWalt shop stool. 😑 Kinda expensive but I like it.
Killer content 👍👍
Your shop neighbors watching you spin around are probably worried about you 😂
What about the new one that Harbor Freight has for $65?
You can get the ICON chair for $75 bucks with their COUPON. But u have to use the coupon inside store.
The wheels on my Adam’s creeper always catches the breaks in the concrete between bays. Super annoying.
Yea the larger wheels on these are great
Use the knee pad as a creeper
NEEDED THiS VIDEO!!!
Harbor freight has identical max shine chair with ad ons 69.99
It’s close but not the same. It doesn’t have the modular creeper. Maxshine also make one just like the one at harbor freight
Costco has one online for like 70 bucks
Link?? What do I search at Costco?
good shit josh i love your videos
the maxshine one would be a lot better if the trays aren't black. screws and shit is so much easier to see in light color trays.
at 6'8", that Griots is alot too little for me
HF has one by Grant for 59/dollars with great reviews
Yea that one looks great. Basically the same as the maxshine just without the modular attachment
Yeah those viper chairs are you kidding 400 bucks and up,that’s a hard NO
They are nice though
@@imjoshvsend a viper chair for Josh to review.
i absolutely love the icon line….absolutely hate the icon detailing chair…. poorly made… their grants line would do better if they just updated it.
Harbor Freight has it for 59.00
It’s not exactly the same. It looks the same exact base just with ouch the modular creeper attachment. If you dont need that part then the one at harbor freight is a great option!
