I am 76 years old now and all my live fan of the Chris Barber band. I visited most of his concerts in the Netherlands. but on this album I hear numbers I never heard before. Thanks for that!

Much saddened by Chris Barber's passing at 90. I remember him so well from my many visits to 100 Oxford St in the 50's and early 60's
    RIP.

I am coming up to 78 and remember well when our art school in the UK brought Chris Barber and his band to the town hall in Oxford for our 'Arts Ball'. As I recall it would have been 1959/60. Great music-interesting times!

Whatever strange details come across the path to understanding and put stones in it, reflexes are definitely addressed that can almost never be properly classified at first. The viewer who reacts adequately in this way also appears in his regular life, but in any case for an outside observer. With a careful approach to curious or carnivalesque, as we say today, reactions to the fate of all people, where there no longer seem to be any generally prescribed guidelines, colorful impressions can be collected...

Tracks 7 & 21 are NOT by Barber's Skiffle group, but by the full band; track 14 is, however, and features Lonnie Donegan (banjo-player for Barber) in what I think is their 1958 recording.

It is Track 15 - The Midnight Special. Played by the Chris Barber Skiffle Group with Lonnie Donegan singing.

That is the wonderful Ottilie Patterson, who was Chris Barber's wife for some time. Sadly she is no longer with us. She also plays the piano here
