  • I'm finally getting started on my totally rad TR7. Before I can make this thing the insane cyberpunk monster it deserves to be, first I have to get it in the garage and find out what's wrong with it. Good luck with that....

    This would be a great car for a crash up derby.

    I envision a KITT-style red light bar for the front. That will REALLY irritate people! Also, I have an Apple CarPlay unit I will donate to the cause the next time I see you.

    Hey buddy, looking forward to your programme of events. You have a 4-speed box currently in situ, it's the old box from a Morris Marina, they never lasted much past 40,000 miles (sorry talking from experience). That's why it is a lift up right & up sequence. The LT77 box which you look to have in the boot (sorry trunk) which is 5 speed & a much stronger box and reliable the reverse is straight left and up (no lifting ;) ). But you would need a different clutch mechanism for it as I'm sure you know. Anyways, if you are going to Miata the car then you will have to sort that & the bell housing I guess. Noticed also that the two centre air vents inside the car were in back to front lol, I guess they look a little more 'punk' like that. looking forward to more...you'll be crying soon, believe me. All the best from Plymouth, UK. (sub'd you deserve more, I reckon a star in the making, the car that is) cheers!

      Amazing comment, thank you SO much. I'm so excited to share this build, there aren't very many of these on the road and hardly any 'rat rod' type builds done with it.
      I also have two rear ends for this thing, one was meant for the 5 speed gearbox, and a volvo rear end with disc brakes that I'll probably end up using eventually. Once I Miata swap the motor I'll have to figure out what to do from there, I may even end up using a Miata 6 speed, but its too early to tell at this point.

    Had these cars been built in Germany they would of been a world beater 🎉

      Or had they been built in Japan, would have made it a good car. I've got an original, rust free, nice condition 21k orig. mi., convertible. Garage stored many years. Getting the S.O.B. back on the road again was a very expensive ordeal. Finally, (with exception of minor stuff) now it's reliable for the past 2 years. It looks good, handles well & fun to drive. Unfortunately, I've put more money into it this MF'er than it's worth & I'm stuck with it. (I really wish it was a Miata though.)

      I owned a 1982 TR7 for 9 long hard years. I spent over £43,000 on that car but I loved her. Finally PX for a 944S2!!!!!!!!

      Since I’ve posted this video, yes! There are 2 updates. Here’s the first of the two

      And here’s the second of the two updates. I really can’t wait to get this back in the garage, but I need to finish a couple projects before I can make that happen.

    Isn't that the 8 cylinder version?

    • @DirtSweatGears
      @DirtSweatGears  ปีที่แล้ว

      It has an inline 4 with a 4 speed. Though the rover v8 does sound great.

      @@DirtSweatGears Cool beans. I thought I saw a second valve cover in the video and it threw me off a bit.

      @@Xibalba-17N yeah that was most likely the air box. it's enormous. Thanks for watching my TR7 videos! I'm dying to make another. I have a really stupid and fun idea to fix these brakes
