  • The Rich Coast Project worked with a group of 12 local kids from Puerto Viejo in May and June of 2017 to develop a short fiction film about the connection between people and the environment in the South Caribbean of Costa Rica.
A team of communications students from the University of Costa Rica offered workshops on storytelling, script development, casting and production. The film was shot in Puerto Viejo and Playa Chiquita with three local actors.
Thanks to all the young people and their parents, to Hotel Puerto Viejo for hosting the workshops, to Drone Puerto Viejo for the help with aerial shots, to the film crew from UCR, and of course to Fer Segura and Daniela Hernández for all of their efforts and dedication in sharing the art and empowerment of telling stories with the community of Puerto Viejo.
Directed by Daniela Hernandez. Story by Salvadore Van Dyke and Sangye Want. Script by Fer Segura. Starring Karlwyn Baylis Varela and Maiten Moore Arenas. Produced by The Rich Coast Project.
