This was the best time of my life!!! Until we were deployed to Bosnia and found out via 20/20 on TV the night before. Then the Army calls formation at 2:30 AM after the TV show. Go figure. I loved the video of Kelley Barracks! I miss the Schnitzel Bolognese from across the street!!! I would kill for this dish now!!!
Hey guy, I was there from 1962 until I finished the Army in 1964. My proof that I was there..?. I can tell you about the tunnels under the barracks that would go from the barracks to the airfield. I think the airfield was called Esslingen? They were big enough for trucks to travel. It was used quite a bit to transport the pilots to the airfield without having to travel on the icy and snow covered roads. Kelley barracks was a 1st class barracks for housing pilots during the WWII. I was in a unit that had a patch that looked like a Pepsi cola patch (round, Red, White and Blue. CDEC!). I was glad to get out bet then years later I wanted to kick myself in the ass, I was a helicopter pilot and had it fucking made
Hard to watch a place like this being taken down , alot of memories !
