Defeated Sanity are one of my favorite tech/brutal death metal bands with one of the best rhythm sections in the genre with Lille Gruber on drums and Jacob Schmidt on bass with lots of jazz influences. Chapters of Repugnance and Passages into Deformity are masterpiece albums. This new album is really good and I think their best since Passages. Tons of crushing brutal riffs with monstrous vocals are combined with intricate drumming and bass playing are definitely present on this album and their previous albums as well. Just a very good band overall.
I listen to the new record last night and really enjoyed it! I got into Defeated Sanity back in 2020, and they are like a great mix of Devourment and Atheist. I personally loved the occasional piccolo snare; gotta have those high tones to complement the low chugging and complex riffing, you get what I’m saying?
I saw defeated sanity live once. I had never heard them before and didn't know what to expect. They played 2 sets with 2 different vocalists. The first set sounded like Death or Atheist. The 2nd set was very brutal. It was cool.
I had a bit of a resurgence in interest for tech death over the last week, going back to classics from Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession, and Obscura. I knew this album was looming, and I wanted a more brutal take on the genre, so I gave "The Sanguinary Impetus" a listen, knowing that this new record was quickly approaching. I was really impressed with it, and thus I'm extremely excited to hear this one. A couple of the teasers I heard sounded great, just as insane and heavy, but with slightly sharper, more nuanced production. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, I'll probably give this a listen or two later today.
Definitely one of my favorite albums of the year. Defeated Sanity in general are one of my favorite Death metal bands. Like if Suffocation or Internal Bleeding really got into Cynic. Is this the same sound as other albums? Yes, but I also think this is their strongest album in a While.
Easily the best album of the year. Definitely a 10/10 and one of the bands best I would put it right up there with Passages of Deformity and Psalms of the Moribund.
This may be my fav brutal/tech death metal release in a long time along with their previous album! But speaking of new albums, you should check out the latest outing from Danish death metal band Terrorpy, titled “The Bisection Collection”.

@@Nall412I realize there are DM fans who like this style but I’ve never been able to fall into a mindset where it clicks with me. Vocals matter quite a bit in my DM enjoyment and the brutal style tends to come up short for me since it’s usually the weakest and less refined part of bands that do it.

Defeated sanity is my all time favorite band. This is possibly their best album
Following them since 2007 and release of Psalms. This is their best one yet. Passages was my favorite.

Only own one album from these guys. Got this one on my wishlist though 🤘🤘
Try out Ingurgitating_Oblivion they have the same drummer. It’s so far out there I don’t know if I like it or not.
I've had quite a few people recommend them but I've yet to check em out lmao, looking forward to it tho, here's hoping they live up to all this hype.
I second this comment, Ingurgitating Oblivion is some of the most wild death metal I've heard this year. Super creative stuff

I don't get Defeated Sanity if i'm being completely honest.
Do you listen to death metal any? Specifically this kind of it? It’s not for everyone. Especially if you are looking just for straight up death metal

Yeah that's my problem with certain technical brutal death metal stuff is that kinda drum sounds dull.
