It might seem curious to make something which is so widely available from specialists, but DIY is its own goal and you have the freedom to make them as it suits. One thing I look forward to trying when I get to this stage is putting the wrench flats further down so I can hold it straight by the taper without the wrench being in the way.
The M15x1mm is specific even for metric. I think that to M2.5 could be found as tap and die. Those fluorescent lamp start sound XD. In my workshops I gradualy replace fluorescent lamps to LED: less power need and no stroboscopic effect on rotating stuff. Good luck!
