Do you want to know why this style of video is effective now? It's because we're all fed up with overly edited and fast-paced content. This here is like a moment when time has paused, and we're stuck in it, appreciating the genuine side of life. It feels like real life once again. :)
This is not theater, or a movie... not even a story... somehow you were able to purvey an absolute experience through sound and sight. You are living the life. I envy you and I hope you keep making things like this. Art.
Your work is on another level dude. Such a crazy balance between vlog-like style but feeling like a movie, and really cool seeing bts of the music vids and directing. I could watch this sh*t for hours.
I feel like I couldn’t really enjoy my early youth. Be that my over bearing parents, my insecurities, my lack of assertiveness, my culture, or just shitty people around me, I feel like I was always limited by whatever happening around me. This video gave me a glimpse of what I missed out on, but I’m still excited to see what I can do for myself, because now I feel ready to live for myself.
@@Catzy.15 oh definitely. It was a combination of how I saw the world at the time and my letting go of my own autonomy for the sake of “not being a nuisance to other people”
@@yourfavoritememory4223 While I did say that, I don't think I blame myself too much anymore. Upbringing is so integral to how we see the world, so I can see that how I react to the world is a direct effect of the world around me, but I can also choose to think otherwise. Recently I've been interested in trying to let go of my biases and really "think otherwise" in all facets of my life. I've been feeling a lil lost because of it, but I've been finding more of myself through new experiences and new people. Kind of exciting, kind of scary
this felt so real in every way i’m not sure what any of it was about but i felt so connected to every part as if i were there. i’m not even sure there’s a word to describe this type of art but it’s amazing and makes you feel such a range of emotions
I don't know why i clicked on this and how those 18 minutes passed. It was truly a piece of art, I didn't got bored at any point which is surprising. As in this era of flashy, fast moving content, this video just gave me piece and I slowed down for a while. Thank you youtube for recommending this and a huge shoutout to the creator Bennett Coast.
idk this is beautiful of course, and great job overall, but it kinda feels odd to me at this point - the world-devouring tendency and desire to "cinematify" and "instagramify" everything out there. This hipsterish veil of oldschool camera filters, vintage suits and funky wall poster interiors feels strangely alienating. It's almost like, so much forced soul that it is in fact soulless at some point. P.S. don't take this as a critique or something, just sheer feeling expression. The video's great 😊
Yeh this is how I feel about a lot of stuff on tiktok and such. It's as if people are into certain fashion or hobbies or whatever, not (just) because they genuinely resonate with it - that it's true to their authentic self/identity, but it's more about how they would like others to view them, the kind of person they want to be seen as. Worded that really poorly but whatever. This is something that has bothered me a lot on like tiktok or "content creation" in general - the vanity and egotism and I guess ultimately just posting stuff with intent to be admired or seen favourably by others ("approval/validation seeking" yadda yadda), or to be perceived as the person/identity that they would like to be perceived as, or think will be received positively (or at least it seems that way). and it can lead me to be sort of cynical/misanthropic/etc. but i recognize that this is just sort of the nature of social media, and especially the types of people who are inclined to post content of themselves. Anyway that was incoherent, but yeh i relate to your perception of seeing stuff as disingenuous in this way. But I'm also just bitter and envious lol. And never developed my own "social identity" or "for-others-identity" and preoccupation fashion and shit, creating a certain image, has always seemed lame and egoistic and idk. Not virtuous or immoral. May be partly/mostly an ego-defence by me. I feel envious and inferior and so I come up with a way to bring them down or whatever - really interesting quote I found once that described this particular defence: “perceived personal inferiorities are recognized as moral deficiencies in someone else.”. Anyway
I have no idea who any of these people are or why this popped up in my timeline but I loved watching it and feel like these guys are living their life out exactly like they are supposed to… I’m 24 years old everyday until I look in the mirror and realize holy shit my face is turning grey and then I remember the inevitable truth of the matter is soon I’m going to be turning 40 years old and there was so much I thought I would have done by now.. from the depth of my soul I can truly attest that indeed Growing Up Hurts 😔 ..Please Bennett take the time to now to enjoy those around you and take advantage of the opportunities your dreams have given you because one day you will wake up with a grey face too, all alone, you and your friends have all grown apart.. and those same dreams that seemed so close to reality that that they actually started manifesting into real life time and time again ..will eventually seem to just stop being as magical and will drift further and further from existence So… Thank you for reminding me of the magic the universe brings you when your young.. before everything becomes so serious ..and I hope you continue to follow your dreams while you still have the time to because no matter what..you will eventually find success in life after you do what ever it is repeatedly every day over and over ..so you might as well find it while doing something you love ;-)
@obxclean237 I think the feeling of being free and not taking life to seriously is something that can be found in every age. I wish for you to read your own message and think about what you can do (at your age) to bring back the feeling of this kind of joy you're getting from this video into your life. Cause it definitey is possible. Go call one of those friends you are talking about, go to that concert, go read that book, pick up a new hobby. It is not too late, you literally still got so much time to do stuff. Make use of it! Don't be afraid to wake the child in you. Make the time and change your current mindset, if you think it will make you happier.
when you made 'are we losing touch?' i found myself revisiting the video so so often. the colors, and the music, and blend between the music and images, and most importantly the feeling, are things that i couldn't unsee. this video is even more impactful. the way that you see the world and re create it through the lens of a camera and direction, is absolutely incredible. the combination of things that you create is a world that feels so real, in a time where almost nothing does.
I was tearing up by the end of this video. Reminds me so much of all the time I spent making videos growing up into my early 20’s.
