When we talk about the distant past, it’s sometimes very difficult to draw the line between myths and facts. There are no living witnesses to what our ancestors did hundreds or thousands of years ago, so how can we truly know how or why they did the things they did? The answer is we can’t - which is why we can’t be sure how the technological feats you’re about to see in this video were accomplished. We can guess, though - so let’s have fun guessing!

Came across an article a few years ago where a college student had figured out that the dodecahedrons were used by Roman soldiers to knit gloves for cold weather. The student made the connection with the knobs on them and through trial and error actually produced a glove. I am surprised that it remains unknown as he supposedly got some kind of award for his discovery.
Really good and most interesting I can't wait for more.
They were used for making the fingers on gloves. Different sizes for different size fingers. Most were found in cold regions, theres sites that show people demonstrating how they work. this mystery was solved years ago, why these sites keep saying it's a mystery is the only mystery here !!!
Those dodecahedrons looks to me as building blocks for roman tents to connect the poles and ropes
Or a gauge for making the shafts for arrows or spears
No, you're all wrong: The Tigellans used Dodecahedrons as power sources. I know, as I was there once on the planet of Tigella and saw one.

I find it odd that swords were not invented until that year that he mentions. It would seem, to me, that wooden spears would have been used for years before that. In which case, as soon as iron was avaiable, it would seem that they could have made swords.
Dodrin, is a type of dice, for gambling. The smaller the coin inserted the higher the bet, it would stay in , on a roll. A Sailors gambling toy.
Dichroic Glass - is not a lost art or technology that we are unable to produce today as many oeople seem to think and is oft said in videos of this nature.
It's expensive and requires much skill to make.
Kilroy was here.
Wot did ol' Roy do to deserve that?
The Dodecahedrons might have been used to claps or arrange the "Bed Sheets/Cloaks" that the romans wore
I think you got the light to color direction wrong on the cup
I think so too 😂
What is the significance of St. Foy? That gargoyle-looking thing is truly weird.
Perhaps those dodechahedrons are for pipe building. The many different sizes of holes offered them different measurements. Just my opinion.
Tent post holders, usefull for the quick and easy construction of tents of various sizes
Have some greek sailor look at one to see if bu certain wrapping and twisting you could make dome amazing adjustable knot. Being hollow something should pass through ti. Having the balls on it ensures that something wrapped around it will not have slipping threads ir ropes. Wouldn’t it be cool if it is actually a tool for quickly and easily making fishing bets. Most are way too small though.
Dodekaeders are usefull for making gloves. The holes fit all finger sizes.

😮😮❤😊❤😊
My opinion is the deocaeder are used for distance determine. The different holes are for looking through. If they are in line you can define the distance..... maybe ????
Sounds reasonable for determining distance. Maybe for navigation even. There are twelve major constellations. Perhaps knobs allowed for aligning them to determine orientation.
I can't help but think of a gambling piece....... like a single die, from a pair of dice.
Im almost certain you got the colors of the glass backwards.
A Japanese sword shaped like a large tree branch and shaped like a flame.
Dodecahedra are dungeon's and dragon's dice.
Gambling Dice , Yep.
Where are the numbers? Each side is the same.
@@kingrobert1st It's the size of the holes, they are all different sizes, to put a coin in and roll. The coin falls out, or the bigger coin stays in. The bigger coin, is the bigger bet on a roll.
@@yahweh7777able Makes sense. Thanks.
Found on ships, varied sizes, come on, am i the only one who figures these dodecahedrons are for rope making?!?
Or rope lashings?
@@gryphenicedancer8796 the holes are of varying size, that would be beneficial to making ropes fit in block and tackle rigs. 3 and 4 braid rope lays flay where as 5 braid is round which would work best in block and tackle setups for sails.
Yeah like a crochet daisy maker or spool knitting
For cord making otherwise they had rope shops everywhere 😂
Dichroic glass is infused with gold or silver. Been to any head shops lately? 🤔
It's a fuming process... place the gold or silver in front of the torch and the metal fumes bond to the glass. Pink is gold, blue is silver.
The Kish Tablet is a recipe for goulash. (I used google translate)
Most people could not read or write hundred year ago but plato time many could
If they remove the stones no one knows where they came from
6:01 dodecahedrons are game pieces
There were Common sense men back in those days; all they had was time...not books, radio, or TV, lights out at Dusk and on at Daybreak. The Stars were our TV at night, and conversations and stories were the radio of those days. We today are not always the brightest.
Kilroy was there
Meerors? :))
You talk of “tiny increments of paint can still be seen clinging to the (stone sculpture).
God I hope that they paid an archivist to gather as many chips of the paint as possible, create a 3D laser mapping of the entire piece, indicate where EXACTLY each piece was taken from. And made it a permanent record.
God forbid that a ten foot long replica cast could be made of a part of it and painted with the same paint

Dodecahedrons are symbols of 'universal' sacred geometries. Every other form and mathematical ratio can fit into them. 12 sides that are pentagon in shape ( geometry of the brain) with 20 vertices- 20 being the number of the Christ Light. j
Jesus is always surrounded by 12 disciples as the central vertice- centifugal force around which the twelve evolve and rotate in growth patterns of the soul. It is a cosmic principle also representative of Zodiacal energies.
Are sailors especially religious?
Your visuals are so random and inapt
Coins were not chinese so let them put aside and forget.😅
More speculation, get a grip.
the Romans had seen dodecahedron shapes flying in the air
