She really is stunning and unique. A synthesis between Russian and French schools, taking the best out of each one. And such a musicality !

Pierre Lacotte is amazing. Does Genia speak French? Im curious since the corrections are given to her in French.

That often seems to be the case with the Russian dancers. Their technique is stunning, but they often seem to put more emphasis on speed than on keeping in time with the music, especially when doing fast turns like fouttes. I love watching Carrie Imler practicing the turns in Swan Lake - she's so perfectly in time with the music,.....

imho it depends a lot on the dancer, there are many russians who are very musical, Tereshkina would the best example I think. Also, the Russians seem to have a different musical feeling than, say, Americans. It's very visible when dancers who'd previously trained somewhere else join a Russian school. What makes them stick out the most is usually not their technique but a different musicality (not necessarilly bad musicality). What I'm trying to say is that the Russians may just dance differently than how you personally "feel the music" or what you are simply accustomed to. Maybe I am wrong, but for me personally it's natural to move to music the Russian way and would feel odd to me to do it as the French do… which makes me think it's really more a matter of taste.
