@chrisyang7215 very interesting World Problems you highlighted :
      1. Climate Change - Yes, the whole world is facing devastating effects of global warming and it is causing food crisis and water shortage for people around the world.
      2. Poverty - Yes, this is a very big problem because the whole world is too dependent on the US dollar and the constant devaluation of the US dollar is literally making the world a poorer place. However according to the World Bank thanks to China for helping to reduce this world poverty by 75% over the last 20 years.
      3. China - This is the most interesting of your problems, why ?
      - Based on Climate change : Yale University study says China is the only country that has invested and installed 50% of the world renewable energy in 2023. Yes, China is still the biggest emitter of CO2 in the world but per capita it is way below any western country's emission.
      - Based on World Bank's report 75% of people around the world getting out of poverty over the last 2 decades is based on the Chinese people. Their capacity to spend has also helped improved the lives of people outside of China too.
So for your no. 3 can I suggest to change from China to USA ? My reason for this is that :
      - almost all wars or conflicts around the world for the past 80 years has it's origin from the USA or that the USA has some part in causing these wars or conflicts.
      - The USA is the only country in the world that does not follow International Law that is agreed in the United Nations.

One important criteria for a sovereign State is recognition. If Philippines views Taiwan as an independent country, it must break off diplomatic relation with Peoples Republic of China to Republic of China which is Taiwan. If Philippines is truly committed to One China Policy, then it must not entertain thoughts of Taiwan being an Independent country. This historic fact is Chang Kai Sek lost the civil war to Mao Tze Tung and fled to Island of Formosa (Taiwan) to form an exile Government. Taiwan Constitution declares mainland China as its territory and Chang Kai Sek devoted his lifetime to recapture mainland China.

A lot people don't know about this, including the Philippines.
When US defeated Spain and took over as the colonial master of the Philippines in 1898, these two countries signed the Paris Treaty of 1898. In it, both countries acknowledged that the territories of Philippines lied EAST of east meridian 118. The island in dispute? It lies west of east Meridian 118!
It is really that simple. Philippine did not grab these island until after the San Francisco Treaty of 1951, from a still-militarily-weak China. But for the policy of “anyone but China” by the world’s hegemony, there should have never had any dispute in the South China Sea.
And it wouldn’t be complete if I don’t include the fact that the USA bought the Philippines from Spain for $20,000,000 USD, right at the time when Filipinos were fighting for independence against Spain… obviously Filipinos didn’t take this lightly.
      😮

@@condorX2 Thanks for the details on history and your facts show that the details do get more and more difficult to understand when digging deeper and deeper.
A little unclear, has US bought Philippines from Spain or have US militarily defeated Spain and just took the Philippines as reward? (in my understanding US did not act as colonial master like the Europeans did strongly)
I would be very careful to take an US - Spain treaty as basis for the decision if a specific island does belong to Philippines or China.
I would rather rely on distance to Philippines or China (the closest country does get positive judgement) or on language/nationality/origin of population if any and if not clear simply ask a Referendum decision by all people living on the island.
Bringing up historical facts can cause a lot of harm, see Israel.
As end-result do you think a 50%:50% decision is good (usually in conflicts both sides have some good reason and a compromise/some win for both sides I would usually consider to be the best solution) or would you rather target 100%:0% decision, creating 1 party to be the winner, the other party to be the loser?
