BIG SHOUT OUT TO OUR Y&F LEGENDS MEMBERS:
Mohammed Soliman, - บันเทิง
You both were so respectful in your silence during this video. I nod to that!
I noticed as well. Respect ✊
Y'all are so much more respectful of America than a lot of Americans are.
One thing you may not have noticed is that the guards always have their rifle on the shoulder facing the crowd. This is deliberate as it indicates that they are guarding the fallen from "enemies".
Also, I like that the tomb guards wear no rank insignia on their shoulders, so as to never outrank the unknown soldiers
This was a beautiful day. Imagine only four spectators and a Nor-easter blowing rain sideways.
They.
Never.
Missed.
A.
Step.
They do the changing of the guard every hour during the Winter and every half hour during the Summer. The ceremony only happens when the cemetery is open to the public starting at 7 AM. At night the guard stands guard in the green booth.
Not exactly correct. The changing of the guard isn't only when ANC is open (which is 8am to 5 pm). You change the guard every two hours at night. It may be a Post One in front of the Box, but otherwise it is the same. Not unusual to have a guard change like the one you see during the day when people are training. You can stand guard in the Box but rarely do that - you patrol the entire area (bottom of the stairs and the plaza).
I witnessed this ceremony a few years ago. It was a very emotional experience for me. Made me proud to be an American.
I served in the US military for 30 years. In my first assignment I volunteered to be a funeral detail officer leading a team to provide military honors to deceased veterans throughout the state where I was assigned. It's not possible to describe how rewarding that was. My team and I performed superbly every time, and we were so proud to show our respects to our comrades who received their final promotion. I've literally been to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and the the tomb of John the Baptist, and the tomb of Salahadin, and all of those experiences were amazing and moving. But I also lived close enough to Arlington National Cemetery (where this video is set) that I could walk there, and did many times. No disrespect to any others, but I've never felt like I was on holier ground than when I was at Arlington National Cemetery. I know so much of the history of the cemetery and those buried there, which influences my experience, so I can't say the same would be true for those not as familiar. Nonetheless, I greatly appreciate the United States Army's 3rd Regiment, the "Old Guard," and their dedication to showing respect to our fallen comrades.
It’s an amazing experience. I highly recommend it. I lived in DC for four years and my ex was in the Old Guard. He didn’t walk the mat though. He was a combat medic for the unit. That was before women, everyone was 6’ or taller and he was asked to become a member, he didn’t volunteer. He had the same stringent uniform standards, which would take an hour to describe. The best times for me were when holidays like Veteran’s Day came around. The Guard would get up extremely early to place individual American flags on each grave in Arlington and a ceremony was held in the rotunda where the President would speak and The Army Band played. The Tomb of The Unknown is an incredibly moving, respectful place. It still makes me tear up when I see it. If you get a chance to visit DC, please stop at Arlington National Cemetery on the grounds of FT Myer. It really is an amazing place where heroes and Presidents alike are buried, including John F Kennedy, where there is an eternal flame always lit at his grave. Sorry this is so long. I could go on forever about that place. 😁
Appreciate your personal account. I've never had the privilege of seeing the tomb but each time I see it in a video it makes me tear up. What an honor to guard the tomb of those heroes.
Our military is really badass! Would you want to meet one of these guys outside a club when you’ve done wrong?
The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns is a VERY serious ceremony, and being there for it is an honor and a privilege.
Every time I make it to DC I always go to Arlington to see buddies of mine that are interned there, time is getting closer and closer I'll be going there to visit my parents. I've always made sure I watch a changing of the guard every time I am there.
The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is pretty awesome to us also 😊
It is but a lot don't realise they are military and have served in conflicts , they get a lot of people taking the piss trying to provoke them which really gets us angry.
If the audience isn’t silent the honor guard makes them silent or leave
Thank you for reacting to this. Made me proud to be an American.
I've seen it twice before and it is a special experience to watch. Arlington National Cemetery has an incredible energy and id recommend going to see it👍🏼
Watch the video on the history of the tombs. Very interesting and gives you more about the guards also
21 steps; 21 seconds; the weapon is always on the shoulder on the people side. Tomb guards are very regimented.
Thanks for your respect during that and not pausing a lot. But it’s quite mesmerizing to watch. You feel honored to be an observer
The guard is changed every 30 minutes in the summer and every hour in winter.
Also, note that the actual guards have no rank insignia. This is because the ranks of the unknown soldiers are unknown. In order to not outrank the decreased soldiers, no rank is displayed.
As a former Army attack helicopter pilot with combat experience, thank you for remaining silent during this video and ceremony! Much respect!
There is also a video on the history of the tomb. As for the sergeant, you are correct. The soldier, his firearm, and his uniform must be pristine while guarding and honoring the unknown soldiers who gave their lives and received no honor for it. We honor them now.
Those soldiers have great discipline , every movement is deliberate and exaggerated , like snapping shoes hard . when you have a weapon you salute with the weapon. The military guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is changed in an elaborate ceremony which happens every hour on the hour from October 1 through March 31, and every half hour from April 1 through September 30
I always use to see this in videos. Seeing it in person last year, it just adds a whole different feeling to it.
A couple of things. There's a technique to walking they use so their head doesn't bob up and down but remains steady. Also, the Guards never wear their rank so as to not out rank the Unknowns.
It's hard to not be emotional watching this. My dad was stationed @ Andrews in the mid 80's, every time family came to visit, we would go.
Thank You...for YOUR RESPECT DURING The VIDEO 🫡...🇺🇸🦅

JUST WANTED TO WISH YOU BOTH A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOUR WIFE AND YOU'RE MOM AND MOTHER IN-LAW❤️
Thank you so much & same to you!
@@yassandfats honors all mine my friends,👍
Notice the people was not talking at all. that is respect.
There are youtube videos of these guards reacting to visitors not showing respect at the tomb. They will not hesitate to respond to peoples disrespect.
I have been there many times and it never gets old . If you ever get the chance I recommend that you try to see it. God bless you both
The ceremony is that intense out of respect...
The Tomb Guards wear no rank insignia. That is so that they never outrank the "Unknowns".
With ZERO exceptions....the Tomb has been guarded 24 hours a day....365 days a year since April 6th, 1948. Dangerous weather, blizzards or dangerous heat don't matter.
DC is definitely worth a visit. Growing up we would visit friends every summer. They made sure we saw all the sites. It’s tough in the summer because DC is hot and humid. At least the museums are free and have AC. 😊
Makes me proud to be an AMERICAN...love from South florida
To become a Tomb Guard is a very long process, and you can be disqualified very easily from being a candidate. Once you earn the Tomb Guard badge it is truly and honor but it is also a bit of a burden for them. The Tomb Guard badge is the only badge that cane be revoked, meaning you can lose the right to wear it if you bring any type of shame to yourself and thusly to the Old Guard unit as a whole. This is why those who serve with the Old Guard tend to be that much more aware of what they are doing at all times, because it is truly an Honor to wear it. I have a friend of mine who was a tomb guard and even now 30+ years after being discharged he still is very aware and stays on the straight path.
Thank you for posting this, makes me proud that others can enjoy. Being Brits you know of Military Traditions. Be Proud!
Awesome man , they took it from the UK , God bless the USA
Every one of these guys is perfect. - Exactly the prescribed moves, uniform is spotless and perfect. I have always been impressed with the men that serve on this detail. And it's not always men. ;)
😂😂😂 You though the were going to dap up. 😅😅😅
Hello Yass and Fats,
You must view the video that tells the complete instructions on the changing of the guards. It’s amazing. They also tell you the story and why.
Also see the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team… Salute to the Old Guard!
Tomb guards wear no rank insignia. They do not outrank the Unknowns.
Nice respectful reaction guys
Have you ever heard the saying “white glove inspection”? That’s what he was doing.
Hey Guys! I Was Born & Raised In Maryland/Washington, D.C. From Birth - Age 18 Years Old And Have Been To Arlington National Cemetery & Have Been To The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier And Have Seen The Changing Of The Guard Countless Times!!!!! You Guys Should Watch And React To “Behind The Old Guard - Sentinels” Which Will Give You All The Information About The Guards Of The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier And Then You Should Also Watch And React To “The Mistake That Haunts This Guard Of The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier”!!!!!
Hello Yass & Fats, I'm an American and I was told by my Mother, BTW Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers 💐, to never join the military? My Father was in WWII as a Sergeant in the Marines but when I was 4 years old I lost him due to cancer, he was only 49, so I never joined
Outstandingly well disciplined, A credit to the USA Military.
This is highest Homor that can be bestowed on a Guard. These Guards volunteer for this, many aren't accepted.
ITS IS REQUESTED THAT EVERYONE MAINTAINS AN ATMOSPHERE OF SILENCE,RESPECT, AND NO PAUSING AT ALL TIMES!!!!!
Something else you would like it's called marine security guard documentary. All about the marines that protect the embassy
Just to become a guard takes a lot of time and skill. First it is voluntary and there is a vigorous application process. If they are chosen they must commit two years of their life to. it They live in barracks underneath the tomb. They are not allowed to drink alcohol on or off duty or swear in public for the rest of their lives. For the first six months of training they cannot talk to anyone or watch tv. All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people who are laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. Guards work on a three-relief rotation 24 hours on, 24 hours off, 96 hours off. The relief solidiers are organized by height so they look similar and and the change is hard to notice. An average shift takes 8 hours to prepare for. The black mat is 21 steps long which represents the 21 gun salute, the highest military honor given. They have been placed there so that people do not picnic and eat by the tomb, deface it, or touch it. If visitors to the tomb disrupt the ceremony the sentinel will stop and give a warning. If someone tries to approach the tomb and has been giving a warning but still continues to try and breach the tomb the guard is authorized to use lethal force.
To everybody..go visit DC, museums and memorials from Virginia up to Pennsylvania at the least of your time, if you can afford!! Quite a humbling experience in my opinion!! I’m a first generation of immigrant American who lives in shthole California!!
It's silent because if the crowd gets too loud the sentinels will let the crowd know they are being disrespectful
Typically 6am, 12 pm, 6pm..,12am. 4 GUARD SWITCHES IN SOMMER 10:41
No ... not even close! April through September guard changes are every 30 minutes. October through March is on the hour. Nights are always two hours.
It is a very high honor to serve guarding the tomb. It requires a lot. There is a video about what it takes to have this honor. We in america honor the unknown soldiers in highest esteem.
Great job on not pausing. You would have had a lot of backlashes on that. Nice upload.
In Winter it is every hour. In summer it is every half hour....24/7, 365 days a year.
The army's handle the tomb of the unknown soldier and the army handles Arlington national cemetery. But the marines protect all of our embassies
That's the USA military we stand be the British military we love you guys
Not sure if you noticed the guard doesn't wear their rank on their uniform. That way they they don't outrank anyone buried there that they are guarding. There are a couple of videos here which shows rules and regulations to being a Tomb guard. They get recognized with a special patch or badge. It's also one of the few awards that can be stripped from a soldier who breaks the rules of being a guard..
(It's the Tomb Guard Identification Badge)
Their videos come in like DaBaby on a track. 😂
The tomb guards learn to walk again before doing this duty. They dont move up and down while walking. It takes practice and focus to do.
Look at the true history of it you’ll be surprised
There is a video showing what the guard will do if a civilian doesn't respect their space. Interesting.
RIP to the sergeant.
💯💯💯💯💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
24/7 365 in all weathers..
Depends on wearber
Guard changes do not depend on weather.
Every hour for 24 hours a day. Every day.
That is an older video. I visited Arlington National Cemetary last fall. These days the soldiers don't wear their ranks on their uniforms. That is out of respect for the unknown in the tomb.
Not sure what you mean about "these days" rank isn't worn...
@@tommyodonnell9 Once upon a time the sentries wore their rank. Not any more.
@@lcxb8575 How long ago once upon a time?
They stand guard summer winter 24/7 even during a hurricane, they refused to stand down until it became very bad and as soon it let up they were back out.
There was never a stand down order nor did they leave the plaza. That's pure internet BS.
I wonder if they have live rounds in their rifle?
You don't want to find out. 😁
Please don't salute with your left hand. I know you don't know the correct way. Always the right. You are always very respectful. Thanks. Enjoy your videos.
This is some serious shit, these guys don't screw around. 🫡🇺🇸
It happens every hour
