    Thankyou! I would never have been able to do this without your video. That first clicking it off part … I kept thinking I was going to break it. Then I realised I was jamming the screwdriver in the wrong spot! 😂

    What a life-saver! Thank you so much for the video. My key quit working and I had no idea how to get into the fob or what to expect if I did. So simple and I even had a battery for it on hand. Thanks again!

    On a rough estimate of 1000 pages, the manual of my Hyundai I30 only says on the subject of battery change:
    Insert a narrow object into the slot and carefully pry off the cover.
    After this description, I would probably have scratched my entire key. Thanks for your video.👍

      That's terrible! There's not loads you need to know, but a new key battery is fairly important. Thanks for the feedback :)

    Was worried at the beginning when you skipped straight to the case open as I needed that step! Glad you went back over it this way to show how the clips worked. Really great video, helped me change the battery without issue. Cheers!

    Very clear instructions. Other videos said their was two indention but I only saw one and that was the wrong one. I kept prying at it with no luck only chipped plastic.
    Your video showed me that they were on top. And the rest was pretty simple to do. Thank you.

    one of our keys has a sticky/weak spring to release the key blade when the button is pressed, is it possible the spring locator slipped one rotation or something else. (nothing appears broken otherwise) it's the same fob as in this video. i was going to unscrew the tiny torx screws for a look, but thought maybe it just needs some WD40? or similar sprayed in. thanks again for this video, i just changed the battery again, this time with an ENERGIZER branded one :)

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I've not seen the fault you describe, I'll have a look and see how the key comes apart

    • @deankdx
      @deankdx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, i would appreciate any help on this.. gluing it so it doesn't fold away was plan b but then it's vulnerable to getting broken.

    • @nohwnd5914
      @nohwnd5914 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deankdx I had the same problem, and fixed it. You need to unscrew all the screws, and then the key almost falls apart. There are no plastic tabs or anything finicky to break. The spring there has a tab on each side and all I needed to do was just put the two plastic parts close together to make the spring engage on both sides, and then turn the upper part four times to tension the spring (turn into the direction into which the key opens), and then I just snapped the parts together. You can hold them and try, maybe 3 turns are enough. I did use a bit of sillicone chain lubricant, I would not use WD-40, because it is mostly a cleaner.
      There is also this tiny metal insert directly on the key, you cannot see it when it is fully open or fully closed, but when half closed you should see a hole with a bit of metal in it. Mine was not flush and was shifted a bit away from the button, which made it difficult to open the key. I used a pair of pliers to make it flush again, and the key works as new.
      Overall it is a very simple fix when have the needed screwdrivers.

    • @deankdx
      @deankdx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nohwnd5914 thanks, I may have to have a go at it soon as the spare key seems to be getting weak also. I'm hoping @The Car Key Man will do a video of it before i need to tackle it on My own.

    • @nohwnd5914
      @nohwnd5914 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deankdx You are welcome. There is nothing complicated about it. I can understand your reservation, when almost any other thing I ever disassembled that had spring in it, just blew up and it was pain to get back together. This key was not, super easy to disassemble and re-assemble.
