Please help me understand the perspective on the size of your fence post and leaves in comparison to the hydrangea s. I would have thought the fence post being closer and larger would be bigger than the flower, and hydrangea leaves are very large like the flower also. I am just trying to learn perspective and I am not understanding how you came to design your picture . I appreciate how easy you make it to learn to paint. Thank you.
Hi Sandi, I'm glad that you're enjoying the videos. The fence is man-made object, so it could really be any size... it could have large or small slats, it could be taller or shorter, or there could be more or less space between the slats. As for the leaves, they may not be exactly the correct shape, but some hydrangea bushes have a ton of green leaves that occupy more space than the flower itself, and some of the leaves can be almost as large as the flower part (you could google hydrangea bush to see what I mean). I like to roll with my imagination and take bits and pieces of all of the information I find on a particular subject and mesh it all together. My goal in this painting was to make you feel like you were about to walk down a path to the beach, so the ones on the right are smaller and brighter. This might be too much info...lol... but I hope it helps. Have fun painting! ~Michelle

Hi Nathalie, For these tutorials I'm using a thin bodied student grade paint from Blick Materials called Blickrylics. They don't have the best pigment, but I like the consistency for layering and blending affects. 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤ I am rolling...laughing at your comments..."that's ok...bc I didn't like...Papa Don't Preach"!!!...🤣🤣🤣 Rolling in laughter...As well as the song...Blue Hydrangea...I will have to google it to listen to while I'm painting this...I happen to live on Lake Ontario in a little town called Sandy Pond (NY) & there is about a 20 mile stretch of sand dunes that's the barrier between both N & S Sandy Ponds & Lake Ontario...some of the dunes are about 40 some odd feet high...we have a beach by the channel that we call Boaters Beach...you can bring bow of boat right up to shore tilling your motor up...smooth sandy bottom...if you've never been...I highly recommend a visit...or at least check us out on YT...if you love the Cape...you'll love it here...(altho it's snowing Lake effect right now...I actually wrote a song called "LAKE EFFECT BLUES" based on 53" in 13 hrs...snowed in...weight of snow breaking front axle on pick up truck)...anyways...this is by far 1 of the best tutorials I've ever seen...out of all of them I've viewed...by anybody. Truth.🤙❤👍
Hi Carol, I buy my canvasses pre-primed, so I do not need to put anything on them before the paint goes on. Most canvasses you buy these days come pre-primed (white on the front and tan on the back side). I love this painting. I did it for a friend on her fence (6'x8 1/2')so she would have something pretty to look at while she was is in her hot tub.

I purchased the acrylic paints you are using on your paintings from art store and I can see the difference in texture and brilliant color. My paintings are looking prettier.

@@michellethepainter. I'm currently in the Philippines and have been under lockdown for nearly seven months. I believe I may be insane! Have no access to art supplies but have some old acrylics. Trying to teach myself how to paint after many years. So far I'm awful! There has been a total ban on booze in my province so I wanted to grab that Pinot from your cold, dead hand! All the best and I will keep trying!
