Imagine if Angel accidentally gave Alastor one of his drugs. So then Alastor acts crazy and drunk while going on a murder parade across hell just for fun. But then the hazbin crew has to chase Alastor around and stop him. It's not the best idea, but I just wish we got to see the characters hanging out and have more development. Edit: I might write a fic about this or smth maybe, should I?
Yeah you can see how much shows in general have chanced. Like hazbin hotel is in the make for around 10 years back when "filler" episodes were normal, now that enough people have complained about them everything feels so fast and short. I hope the "filler" episodes will come back one day so shows don't feel so quike and empty annymore.
See THIS feels like a continuation of the pilot. The concepts sound so much less bloated and more episodic with occasional lore and canon events. As what most shows should be in there first season. I sware it feels like the final show is “ok ok we gotta speed run this shit!!!!! MOVE!!!!” There was no chill ep or time to fall in love with the characters before we learned about there turmoil. Case in point- Vaggies “if I can’t protect u what good am I?” Problem was originally gonna be in issue 10!!!! Not episode frikin 3 where we barely knew her!!!
I know what you mean man. As a big fan of the pilot and now the show too I really, really wish this is what they went with. The pacing feels so much more organic compared to the final show and you actually have time to get to know the characters and start caring about them.
Personally I blame Amazon for this since they only allowed 8 episode I'm pretty sure if they has like 10 or 12 the pacing would have not been soo you know fucked That and my rule is if a major corporation has creative control even if it's minor unless if theres exact evidence that the artist are to blame blame the corporation because it's usually their fault Strangely works every time
i actually really like the og ideas they had for hazbin hotel, it looks more like helluvas story telling and it seems a lot less rushed. it just seems to fix most of the problems i have with the official show
I agree with you. I love the show as it is, but I really wish they gave Viv more than 8 episodes. I feel like a lot more people would like the show if we had more episodes to work with.
I'm so happy that Sir Pentious went from a one-off character joke villain to a main character with such an big impact for the story. I was kinda sad that Sir Pentious replaced Baxter, but hey we get more Baxter in S2! And I'm greatful that Luci got a bigger role in S1, can't get enough of him! ❤
I want to see Apple Daddy acting more…sinister. I love his goofy side and how much of a good dad he is, but I think it’s about time he showed us that he’s still the devil
This just proves that the show was supposed to be episodic fun but got fuck over by the episode count. These premises would have been so much fun for character development and just a slice of life. Also Episode 6's title is a reference to Marylin Monroe's song where she was a flapper girl/ or is a reference to Betty Boop.
I believe Episode 9's title is also a reference to "Everything You Know Is Wrong" by Weird Al, as Viv is a huge fan of him and wanted him to voice Lucifer originally
With everything we've seen about season 2 already, some of these things could possibly be re-used next season (like the Niffty thing and Baxter's introduction)

I actually prefer these rough drafts/original concepts over the actual show. I like Hazbin Hotel don’t get me wrong (and I think it’s better than Helluva Boss) but the show felt rushed. They introduced too many concepts and characters, Charlie and Lucifer made up in 1 episode, and they introduced Heaven way too early. It sucks that they only had 8 episodes and didn’t have the chance to flesh out the world/characters, maybe season 2 will have more/longer episodes to make up for it
Unfortunately Season 2 will only have 8 episodes again. (That's just an Amazon Series problem in general.) So, we're just goanna have to hope for longer episodes though I doubt we'll even get that.
Exactly what I thought! The final cut's episode count seriously hindered character development, but the original pitch seems too episodic and plot-light in my opinion (especially since a sped-up extermination timeline was always a plot point). What the final cut needed was one or two more character-focused episodes.

10:11 As far as I know it's still canon that Husk speaks most languages, I've seen spanish, russian, italian, mandarin chinese and japanese, some of these may end up cut but I personally belive no languages actually exist in hell. Like in the good place everything is automaticly translated, Vaggie used to have small moments where she spoke spanish but they were gone in the show
I thought Husk was an American veteran from the Vietnam War who was giving to drinking and gambling before he died. But I believe everyone in hell sinner or hellborn cam talk to each other and if they went to earth they can understand and speak all the earth languages even if they were never born in that part of the world or are a non human hellborn.

I think the season 1 we got was decent but these original ideas for episodes looked like they would've been a lot of fun and more grounded than the season 1 we got hopefully season 2 ends up a bit more like these original ideas Also Hatchet in the middle left at 2:50 being scared of niffty is great
Not gonna lie, this would have been infinitely better than what we actually Got, i really disliked the season 1 we Got, and This is what we expected from the pilot, a Light hearted show about rehabilitation and stuff, but those bitches over at ayy twentyfour had to make it about some war
As a casual fan, I would’ve killed to have those first draft episodes in the final show. It would’ve given much more context and more time to love the characters and get to know them more.
I hope they salvage a few of these ideas in the later seasons. Especially the one where Charlie and Angel take Husk to a carnival. Aside from my selfishly wanting more HuskerDust content, plus it sounding just plain cute all of them doing something mundane and bonding over it, it sounds like a great way to explore the character's origins.
The problem is that Amazon Prime assumes that new original shows with more than 8 episodes won't be popular in the long run, so they decided to keep it safe to stick it to 8 episodes to see if it will be popular enough to make more Seasons. Of course Vivienne herself said that Season 2 will also have 8 episodes, but she also said that it will have more songs than Season 1, implying that at the least each Season 2 episodes will have a longer runtime.
I saw somewhere that the first episode will be 20 minutes (without intro and outro). Maybe this is just the first episode and maybe they will decide to make more time later, but it scares me. The information may not be accurate, but everything is possible.
I can't help but think this version would have had a much stronger impact, way more potential, and a more grounded plot at the beginning. Not calling what we have now bad but if I had to describe our season 1 it would be a best or funny moments compilation of a 3 season long show crammed in under 2 hours. Jesus they need longer episodes and a better pacing.
10:53 I just noticed in the main show we don’t see what happens to sinners/angels that get killed with an angelic weapon. We only see their body remains but I guess they cease to exist & manifest again. Maybe in season 2 we’ll see what really happens to those that are eliminated by an angelic weapon
in a interview Viv was asked where do people go after they get killed by angelic weapons and she said she couldn't answer that because it would get explored in the future, I think she said it would be in the second season
To be honest I think this original idea for the show wouldn’ve been way better than the show we got, one of the most loved part of the series is the characters and with the more episodic style of the pitch bible definitely would’ve gave the characters a lot more time to shine and get a lot more development , also it had a lot more world building for hell and gave it really fun tone, the pacing in these definitely let events and characters to grow and move at a more natural pace, I like the final outcome events and story’s kinda mesh together in my head and I don’t really remember which episode they happened in, either way we got a really good show with a few problems that now have answers, hopefully season 2 can use some of these ideas and maybe improve the pacing and development
I think that incorporating the episodes we didn't get into season 2 would make us get the best of both worlds. Many scrapped ideas sounded amazing, but like you mentioned: Lucofer and Alastor's interactions and the Vees were some of the best things in the show, so doing what I previously mentioned would make us have everything we liked
I feel like some of those ideas might be reused for season 2, like Baxter and/or Niffty centered episodes, hell medias covering the hotel rise in popularity, Von Eldriche family appearance. The seemingly better world building of this first draft gives me hope season will have longer episodes to develop things much more smoothly than season 1. Maybe getting official comics could also be a possibility with the show's evergrowing popularity.
I wish they could of had wacky episodes in the final show, filler episodes are good. Some people say they don't bring anything to the plot. But it also shines light to the character's bonds to one another.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a masterclass in the value of filler episodes when done right. Filler episodes weren't just fun, they developed either or both the characters and the world in some way.
Although there were definitely some improvements in the final show, in my opinion it’s more of a downgrade. Not only is the pacing shit and the designs/colors worse than the og, but the og episode concepts were so cool and I personally would’ve much rather had either no Alastor and Lucifer beef or had it later in the show than Mimzy not getting her episode. I am grateful for what we got but also sad looking at what we COULD’VE gotten

Ed's performance gave Alastor so much effortless charm and whimsy I'd argue it was almost on par with some of the old school disney villains in terms of memorability, though even if he was never gonna be as iconic I do feel like Amir had some potential too if they kept the 30s slang and effects and gave him better direction, the super sassy and arrogant delivery doesn't work very well in my opinion and almost feels fanficky with how over pronounced it is compared to how he was in the pilot
Seeing this pitch bible really does reinforce my whole stance on all information reguarding Hazbin pre season 1. My rule being "Take the pilot and everything stated by everyone including Viv back before the full show came out as soft cannon. Basically means take it with a grain of salt until either Viv herself or the show confirms or denies it." So much changed since the pilot days it's actually kinda crazy. You can't exactly trust what anyone or even Viv herself said in old livestreams or twitter posts because of this. Not saying to entirely disregard them, but it's important to note things have clearly changed A LOT. Way more then we originally thought.
Has much really changed though? Unless I missed something, it seems like most of the core elements stayed the same. Sped-up exterminations, Lucifer and Charlie having a strained relationship, Mimzy being in debt (and using the hotel for protection), and Angel's abusive boss are still present. And this vid misunderstood Ep. 4's pitch - Husk died as a grown adult, so "being _raised_ to know nothing but crime" would refer to his upbringing while alive. Becoming a gambler overlord in Hell is a logical follow-up given how often crime and gambling intermix. Outside more focus on plot, the changes seem mostly detail/surface level. That said, I absolutely agree that the final cut needed more character development and better pacing.
I personally think that Hazbin was ment to be episodic with seasonal arks. Similar to how helluva boss was. But due to the fact that helluva grew more connected as each episode released, it seems the same was taken for Hazbin.
They rushed the plot too fast,they should have made the first season episodic and start introducing the plot at Season 4,i feel like that was what was originally planned,but Indie Shows became a whole genre and well....
Hearing this, I really wished that how season one played out. I do like some of the concepts that were reworked in the main show like Sir Pentionus being a major character, having a council of overlords, and the Vees being the major antagonists, and while I did enjoy season one, I think we could all agree that had A24 and Amazon Prime let Viziepop had 10-15 episodes, season one would have been better if started out as an episodic show that would later be story driven

I think it's pretty cool that things are different for Hazbin Hotel before they use it for the actual show like with Adam and Lute's design being different and the fact the way Vaggie is going to make a different commercial than what Alastor made plus I think it's interesting they were going to add Baxter as the main cast member and that they're would be outlaw villains who love puns, but at least we got Striker in Helluva Boss but I'm sure he doesn't like to joke around. Overall I think it's pretty cool and I can't wait to see what the future of Hazbin Hotel holds. Also I didn't know Sir Pentious used to have a crush on Rosie, but I like him better when he has a crush on Cherri Bomb and the fact the Hazbin Hotel Comic called Exes and Oohs is moved to Helluva Boss as the name of the episode that introduced Crimson, Alessio, and Chaz.
Rainbow I also like Hazbin Hotel the way it is and the way we got it because there's no way other companies would've made it. Seriously it doesn't need to be another Helluva Boss have people even seen that most adult shows are just copycats of Family Guy I'm glad Hazbin Hotel is not any of that. It's unique and it stands out.

I know this type of thing doesn't happen often but I really hope one day the show might get a reboot where it can follow the original plan with more episodes. Like how some anime gets rebooted to more closely follow the manga it's based on. Yes, I know looking forward to a potential reboot while a show is still airing doesn't reflect well on the show, but it's because I want to see the story and characters with more room to breathe. I am enjoying what they are able to give us, but I long for it to be even better (and mentally begging and pleading for the writers and/or audio editor to take five minutes to read up on how thou/thee pronouns are conjugated. Listening to Zestial speak was painful)
I actually prefer the old ideas to be honest. It seemed more lively and more wacky. I might make some fan animations or try to ATTEMPT to imagine if Viv kept these ideas. (I’ll try to ask Viv if I can do so. Just to be safe.)
This feels bad to say but I would LOVE if fans got together to make their own episodes of the show. Better yet, with the original voice actors who sadly got swept aside after all they did polularising the show. Unfortunately, I know legally that can never happen ☹️
The fact "therapy night" was a thing and they actually had redemption still in mind as the main concept and doing real things that could help real people instead of watering it down to charlie being a naive camp counselor trying to turn the frowns upside down of literal drug addicts makes me a little sour they didn't include something like this. It low key makes her sound like a more competent adult instead of delusional if she thought about the idea of therapy knowing how heavy these problems are. (Also her actually getting sort of upset at her father makes her daddy issues situation more interesting and real because it appears to be an actual conflict)

I think episode 8 for the original plot was reused for episode 1 season 2 In the sneak peak we were showed for season 2 it’s shown Vaggie dealing with a bunch of news reporters and then Baxter joins, it might go the same way episode 8 was originally planned with a few new plot points to make it more interesting
I love the original story arc for the original pilot episodes for Hazbin hotel and for the new story arc of the hazbin hotel episodes and I love how wacky and insane how there are for the pilot version and I love the new version of Hazbin hotel being straight forward and serious when it first came out in January and ending in March. Though IMP being a B plot seemed to be dropped in favor of a seperate show centered around them rather quickly cuz none of the pitch bible episodes mention them at all... maybe they were in the first episode that was cropped... who knows? But viv loves releasing stuff like this so im sure she'll release the whole pitch bible eventually...
I still overall liked current show, but these episode concepts would have been really good. I like how these ideas had more slice of life moments between the characters and feel more fleshed out. It is nice that it sounds like Season 2 might incorporate more of these. Part of why i prefer Helluva Boss a bit more is because of the more episodic format.
I feel a lot different now knowing what this show could've been. But I see why changes happened. Like you said, Vox and Velvette got more screen time in the final show, and it also led to Stayed Gone, which to this day is my favourite song from the show. And there are people like me who only watched the pilot before the main show and not any of the live streams or fun looking comics, so we would've known who Pentious is better than Baxter. Either way though, these scrapped or original episodes and plotlines you've told us about are definitely interesting. And now I hope they get put into Season 2 in some way.
I honestly would like to see these plots in the future. It would be sick! Rearranged, they would fit very well with the new Hazbin Hotel plot. Some of the ones they could use are Baxter saving his friends from a gang, the explaination of why Niffty likes bad boys, Mimzy as a new member new guest at the hotel after a typical day, the appearance of the Seven, the introduction of Seviathan and her sister and Maxine and the day of the challenge.
I like Hazbin Hotel the way we got it there's no way any other companies would've made it or picked it up. I like Charlie Vaggie Angel Dust and their friends and Sir Pentious is awesome.
It certainly would have been a way more balanced season 1. The “fight Heaven” plot should have been relegated to season 2, albeit with build up in season 1, and the first season would have been better exploring more the characters and the concept of redemption.
Ngl I kinda want to see what the old version of Hazbin Hotel would look like, the pilot was definitely better than the actual show and I kind of wanted more episodes like that but when I saw it on Prime Video it didn’t match the pilot at all, I kinda like Velvette, but I kinda wanted to see what she would look like as the psycho she used to be, you know?
A lot of these stories sound fun, but they also feel less connected. What we got introduced the characters extremely well and also showed how connected they are. There don't seem to be any high stakes and it feels like the story is just meandering along like a filler, but filler doesn't work when you don't know the characters yet and don't care about them or the stakes. From a story perspective the final show is definitely better. It hints at some stuff and keeps things exciting for future seasons
Connected? Not trying to be rude but its connected like a wooden table pieced together by paper glue. Tbh there is no reason to have high stakes in season 1 and 8 episodes just wait for finale. Filler does work in this case because the characters are explored more and you pay attention to it so you care abt them than brushing aside for some random plot point that take up the 1/3 of the episode.
@@Mrblueguy1 The episodes were very well connected because you had the repeated conflict of Charlie trying to talk to Heaven, the same characters from the pilot appeared in in the episodes and the episodes picked up right were the previous one ended. Sir Pentious appeared in the Pilot -> Sir Pentious appeared as a revewed rival -> then as a guest -> Then as a long time rival/love interest, plus she was introduced as Angels friend. The Vees posed an overarching rivalry/threat towards Angel as well as Alastor. Characters trying to get rid of a hornets nest seems more like a random prompt that could be explored in a few minutes. The old episode pitches seem more like an episodic loony-toons type of show where a timeline doesn't matter. Of course such shows can be entertaining but the format doesn't lend itself to explore deeper, character driven stories. You also can't pull a loony-toons audience in and then change the format in season 2. Helluva Boss was more like what you envision I guess, but that show also turned out to be more character driven which makes the beginning feel a little more disconnected/ disjointed and people now complain how they miss this or that and want more of XY. That's why it's important for bigger productions to know exactly what they want to go for. Setting up a consistent tone helps meeting expectations of the target audience better.
@@inu506 I’m sorry, but I gotta disagree with the whole ”Those formats can’t tell deeper stories”. A lot of shows did that- Owl House, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls... and they managed it very well (I’ll give you that SU could have been a bit shorter but still) The problem that happened in HB (and reason why some folks were not pleased with it mostly) was that the pace change was immediate: there was barely, if any, transition. Usually, the first season introduce the world and is mostly abt random shenanigans, with maybe just a little bit of plot here and there, the second season has a good mix between plot and random shenanigans, and third season goes full plot. Depending on how many season they get it can change, but that’s basically the big scheme. That was not the case of HB. We switched from random to full plot-driven veeeery fast, so ofc people felt like they were watching a completely different show. Which is not surprising, especially when, so far, the plot is more about Stoliz than the story itself (what was even the story? It kind of got lost so far) The problem with HH, and lot of people in this comment section are talking abt it, was that you barely have time to breathe when watching HH. It’s not ”badly connected” per say, but Sweet Lord it’s like we’re speedrunning this shit. That thing with the hornets nest? Like you said, maybe it would last only a couples of minute, like 5-10, but that’s exactly what we need! The point of a B-plot is to act as some kind of break from the episode actual plot, which would be Angel’s situation here (and considering how much of punch in the guts that episode was for people due to the tone change, it would have been appreciated). Besides, it’s not like we got any B-plot in the actual episode, so what does a few minute with the gang trying to deal with a nest would do that would be bad, instead of, again, just giving a few minutes to breathe and taking in all the infos we’re getting abt Angel? It also gives a good reason for the others characters to not interfer with said plot, while still being present on screen (also I’m sorry but the thought that Alastor had trouble dealing with the nest is absolutely hilarious and I need to see it now). So yeah, not saying you can’t like the show as it is rn, but it would have absolutely gained with those silly plot lines in between actual plot, and just, yk, better pacing. And I can agree with @Mrblueguy1 here. You don’t usually have super high stake in the first season, especially such short season. The Finale seems more like the finale of a second or even a third season right before shits hit the fan, when the plot starts plotting hard, not after an 8 episodes season.
@@FluffySnow15 I agree that having B plots is great. I think a mix of the versions could have been fun, but if I had to choose between the old and new I’d definitely choose the new version. Things seem better connected in that version and that’s the type of stories I prefer. Episodic stuff can be fun but personally I get tired of that fast. I know what to expect and it get’s resolved each episode. I prefer over arching stories, long stories ect. and I think that’s something Hazbin set up for really well. Yes, it would have been great to see a little more in general and having a little filler mixed in, but it’s really good to see development already. What I am curious and a little concerned about is how they can keep the character development up throughout all seasons. If there’s one thing I would have loved to have a little more time/filler in-between it’s Angel’s story line. And you’re right about the final too. So a mix of plot ideas could have been fun. Maybe we can get that for season 2. I’m also very excited for the new songs but concerned at the same time. How will more songs fit in without giving the non-song-plot enough time to move?
@@inu506That’s the reason why people weren’t fan of the fast pacing, we already had quite a lot of character development so far, and there’s going to be a point where they won’t progress anymore, hopefully it’ll be more towards the end of the show but it does worry me too... Also, I feel like people (not specially you, just everyone in general) tends to forget that this ”Bible” of the show only gives us the synopsis of the plots, and that we’re missing episodes here. Maybe there was more to it, like important details and revelations, but that is not something you would show here- so maybe it had more story? Especially if we go from the idea that the original season had 12 episodes only, which is still shorter than the other shows I mentionned earlier, so I guess there would have been some kind of speed-things-up towards the end of the season (my best guess would be after Charlie’s meeting with the Sins) For the songs, well! It’s going to show Viv’s abilities to create an actual musical! See, in musicals, the plot progresses during the song itself, like in Ready for This, or You didn’t know. We could totally have more ”silly” songs during those B-plots, that wouldn’t be as serious as some others songs, a bit like Alastor’s Reprise in the Pilot. It would actually be cool to have one song for the main plot and one for the side-plot, plus that would mean we’d get two (possibly) very different sounding songs

Same 😞 I suspect many of the diehard fans of the series weren't around in the Pilot era. Back then the content we got gave the vibe of a totally different show, and that's what people were excited for all these years.

I see a lot of people arguing this problem would've never happened if Habin stayed indie, but people who say this don't know what they're talking about. Keeping both up as indie shows would be a logistics nightmare. That's the key thing people don't understand, logistics is the final word in anything not just in the military. Even when it comes to shows logistics decide if one goes indie or not. Having one be indie, Helluva Boss, while the other becomes a full TV Show, Hazbin Hotel, at the cost of some of their original plans hut the show's potential, but it was better in the long run to alleviate the logistics problem running two indie shows at the same time would've costed SpindelHorse.
I would have rather Hazbin stayed Indie even if it meant Helluva wouldn't exist. The only reason i watched Helluva was because i was excited for Hazbin.
Who knew the hornet's nest idea Viv had was gonna be implemented into "Masquerade"? Honestly they made the right call, tho i hope they reuse the idea later on.
I really love the final show, but its a lot like a roller coaster with no loops, no hills, no slow climb to the sudden drop. It's just an extremely fast ride in an oval before its done, yes its still fun, but it's missing a lot of aspects that make roller coasters as fun as they are. Hazbin Hotel needed that slow climb to the sudden drop, the loops, the hills, it needed slower parts, filler, thriller, and everything to fully flesh it out into one helluva roller coaster ride. I don't really blame Vivzie for so much being missing, I feel like she tried to do her best with what amazon allowed her. I'm hopeful for the second season, I think we will be getting a lot more than the first season, and I'm even more hopeful for some more worldbuilding!!!
She got given 8 episodes to work with but I really wish she took a risk and made season one how we all expected it to be, while leaving some of the plot points and characters for later seasons. I don't think it would have been cancelled had it been done well, and if it was then it could just go back to being indie animated. (Even if we have to wait for Helluva Boss to finish first)
I think the original idea of Hazbin Hotel was a lot better. This is what we've been asking for and we got robbed so hard all because a major company wanted to play it safe and rush things.
To be fair, the team could have slowed down the story to not feel as rushed. I doubt they were told exactly what to put into each of the 8 episodes by the execs.
Given how character focused the actual concept was (redeeming sinners), I feel like the structure seen in the drafts is much better than what we got. These drafts are so character focused, and could still have left room for the worldbuilding. What we got was...alright, but It was not a smart move to introduce three new characters and five new worldbuilding ideas (hyperbole, but you know what I mean) each episode. I feel like the vivzie-verse lacks focus, while these drafts show that focus that was missing
I really like the show as it is now, but it’s fun to see what was originally on the table before production made cuts. What would be really nice is if they could do Hazbin shorts like the Helluva Boss ones, but that’s probably not possible, unfortunately.
It seems like the stakes were just as high in the pitch bible with the extermination being moved up. I don’t know if people would’ve appreciated the filler given that.

This is an good example of first draft vs final draft. *A final draft should never look the same as your first draft.* Things, characters, and story elements *should* change as you go through multiple drafts. Some things will remain the same, yes, but drafting and editing means changes transpire.

I wanna say I feel like we were horribly robbed from all the sir pentitious stuff. However we got vox and hes just nonexistent in the pilot so if they went with the og pitch we would have never gotten the second best character from the show
i love how the show turned out, but i do miss how the pilot was so quirky and wacky and i wish we could have seen more of that style in the final show. the pilot also seemed much more lighthearted then the final show, and the songs were much different, like the pilot was funny and cute and the final show was much more dramatic (which i also love too)

Imagine if Angel accidentally gave Alastor one of his drugs. So then Alastor acts crazy and drunk while going on a murder parade across hell just for fun. But then the hazbin crew has to chase Alastor around and stop him. It's not the best idea, but I just wish we got to see the characters hanging out and have more development.

Yeah you can see how much shows in general have chanced. Like hazbin hotel is in the make for around 10 years back when "filler" episodes were normal, now that enough people have complained about them everything feels so fast and short. I hope the "filler" episodes will come back one day so shows don't feel so quike and empty annymore.

See THIS feels like a continuation of the pilot. The concepts sound so much less bloated and more episodic with occasional lore and canon events. As what most shows should be in there first season. I sware it feels like the final show is “ok ok we gotta speed run this shit!!!!! MOVE!!!!” There was no chill ep or time to fall in love with the characters before we learned about there turmoil. Case in point- Vaggies “if I can’t protect u what good am I?” Problem was originally gonna be in issue 10!!!! Not episode frikin 3 where we barely knew her!!!
I know what you mean man. As a big fan of the pilot and now the show too I really, really wish this is what they went with. The pacing feels so much more organic compared to the final show and you actually have time to get to know the characters and start caring about them.

I actually prefer these rough drafts/original concepts over the actual show. I like Hazbin Hotel don’t get me wrong (and I think it’s better than Helluva Boss) but the show felt rushed. They introduced too many concepts and characters, Charlie and Lucifer made up in 1 episode, and they introduced Heaven way too early. It sucks that they only had 8 episodes and didn’t have the chance to flesh out the world/characters, maybe season 2 will have more/longer episodes to make up for it
Unfortunately Season 2 will only have 8 episodes again. (That's just an Amazon Series problem in general.) So, we're just goanna have to hope for longer episodes though I doubt we'll even get that.

The final cut's episode count seriously hindered character development, but the original pitch seems too episodic and plot-light in my opinion (especially since a sped-up extermination timeline was always a plot point). What the final cut needed was one or two more character-focused episodes.

But I believe everyone in hell sinner or hellborn cam talk to each other and if they went to earth they can understand and speak all the earth languages even if they were never born in that part of the world or are a non human hellborn.

Not gonna lie, this would have been infinitely better than what we actually Got, i really disliked the season 1 we Got, and This is what we expected from the pilot, a Light hearted show about rehabilitation and stuff, but those bitches over at ayy twentyfour had to make it about some war
As a casual fan, I would’ve killed to have those first draft episodes in the final show. It would’ve given much more context and more time to love the characters and get to know them more.
I hope they salvage a few of these ideas in the later seasons. Especially the one where Charlie and Angel take Husk to a carnival. Aside from my selfishly wanting more HuskerDust content, plus it sounding just plain cute all of them doing something mundane and bonding over it, it sounds like a great way to explore the character's origins.
...Now I wanna see that "Hornets Nest" B-plot in the actual show.
The problem is that Amazon Prime assumes that new original shows with more than 8 episodes won't be popular in the long run, so they decided to keep it safe to stick it to 8 episodes to see if it will be popular enough to make more Seasons. Of course Vivienne herself said that Season 2 will also have 8 episodes, but she also said that it will have more songs than Season 1, implying that at the least each Season 2 episodes will have a longer runtime.
I saw somewhere that the first episode will be 20 minutes (without intro and outro). Maybe this is just the first episode and maybe they will decide to make more time later, but it scares me. The information may not be accurate, but everything is possible.
I can't help but think this version would have had a much stronger impact, way more potential, and a more grounded plot at the beginning. Not calling what we have now bad but if I had to describe our season 1 it would be a best or funny moments compilation of a 3 season long show crammed in under 2 hours. Jesus they need longer episodes and a better pacing.

We only see their body remains but I guess they cease to exist & manifest again. Maybe in season 2 we’ll see what really happens to those that are eliminated by an angelic weapon
in a interview Viv was asked where do people go after they get killed by angelic weapons and she said she couldn't answer that because it would get explored in the future, I think she said it would be in the second season

To be honest I think this original idea for the show wouldn’ve been way better than the show we got, one of the most loved part of the series is the characters and with the more episodic style of the pitch bible definitely would’ve gave the characters a lot more time to shine and get a lot more development , also it had a lot more world building for hell and gave it really fun tone, the pacing in these definitely let events and characters to grow and move at a more natural pace, I like the final outcome events and story’s kinda mesh together in my head and I don’t really remember which episode they happened in, either way we got a really good show with a few problems that now have answers, hopefully season 2 can use some of these ideas and maybe improve the pacing and development
I think that incorporating the episodes we didn't get into season 2 would make us get the best of both worlds. Many scrapped ideas sounded amazing, but like you mentioned: Lucofer and Alastor's interactions and the Vees were some of the best things in the show, so doing what I previously mentioned would make us have everything we liked
I feel like some of those ideas might be reused for season 2, like Baxter and/or Niffty centered episodes, hell medias covering the hotel rise in popularity, Von Eldriche family appearance. The seemingly better world building of this first draft gives me hope season will have longer episodes to develop things much more smoothly than season 1. Maybe getting official comics could also be a possibility with the show's evergrowing popularity.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a masterclass in the value of filler episodes when done right. Filler episodes weren't just fun, they developed either or both the characters and the world in some way.
Although there were definitely some improvements in the final show, in my opinion it’s more of a downgrade. Not only is the pacing shit and the designs/colors worse than the og, but the og episode concepts were so cool and I personally would’ve much rather had either no Alastor and Lucifer beef or had it later in the show than Mimzy not getting her episode. I am grateful for what we got but also sad looking at what we COULD’VE gotten
The animation is less fluid and cartoony and Alastor should've been less of an egotistical edgelord and more of a sadistic comedian....

Ed's performance gave Alastor so much effortless charm and whimsy I'd argue it was almost on par with some of the old school disney villains in terms of memorability, though even if he was never gonna be as iconic I do feel like Amir had some potential too if they kept the 30s slang and effects and gave him better direction, the super sassy and arrogant delivery doesn't work very well in my opinion and almost feels fanficky with how over pronounced it is compared to how he was in the pilot

Seeing this pitch bible really does reinforce my whole stance on all information reguarding Hazbin pre season 1. My rule being "Take the pilot and everything stated by everyone including Viv back before the full show came out as soft cannon. Basically means take it with a grain of salt until either Viv herself or the show confirms or denies it."
So much changed since the pilot days it's actually kinda crazy. You can't exactly trust what anyone or even Viv herself said in old livestreams or twitter posts because of this. Not saying to entirely disregard them, but it's important to note things have clearly changed A LOT. Way more then we originally thought.
Has much really changed though? Unless I missed something, it seems like most of the core elements stayed the same. Sped-up exterminations, Lucifer and Charlie having a strained relationship, Mimzy being in debt (and using the hotel for protection), and Angel's abusive boss are still present. And this vid misunderstood Ep. 4's pitch - Husk died as a grown adult, so "being _raised_ to know nothing but crime" would refer to his upbringing while alive. Becoming a gambler overlord in Hell is a logical follow-up given how often crime and gambling intermix.
Outside more focus on plot, the changes seem mostly detail/surface level. That said, I absolutely agree that the final cut needed more character development and better pacing.

I personally think that Hazbin was ment to be episodic with seasonal arks. Similar to how helluva boss was. But due to the fact that helluva grew more connected as each episode released, it seems the same was taken for Hazbin.
They rushed the plot too fast,they should have made the first season episodic and start introducing the plot at Season 4,i feel like that was what was originally planned,but Indie Shows became a whole genre and well....
Hearing this, I really wished that how season one played out. I do like some of the concepts that were reworked in the main show like Sir Pentionus being a major character, having a council of overlords, and the Vees being the major antagonists, and while I did enjoy season one, I think we could all agree that had A24 and Amazon Prime let Viziepop had 10-15 episodes, season one would have been better if started out as an episodic show that would later be story driven

I think it's pretty cool that things are different for Hazbin Hotel before they use it for the actual show like with Adam and Lute's design being different and the fact the way Vaggie is going to make a different commercial than what Alastor made plus I think it's interesting they were going to add Baxter as the main cast member and that they're would be outlaw villains who love puns, but at least we got Striker in Helluva Boss but I'm sure he doesn't like to joke around. Overall I think it's pretty cool and I can't wait to see what the future of Hazbin Hotel holds. Also I didn't know Sir Pentious used to have a crush on Rosie, but I like him better when he has a crush on Cherri Bomb and the fact the Hazbin Hotel Comic called Exes and Oohs is moved to Helluva Boss as the name of the episode that introduced Crimson, Alessio, and Chaz.

I know this type of thing doesn't happen often but I really hope one day the show might get a reboot where it can follow the original plan with more episodes. Like how some anime gets rebooted to more closely follow the manga it's based on.
Yes, I know looking forward to a potential reboot while a show is still airing doesn't reflect well on the show, but it's because I want to see the story and characters with more room to breathe. The fact "therapy night" was a thing and they actually had redemption still in mind as the main concept and doing real things that could help real people instead of watering it down to charlie being a naive camp counselor trying to turn the frowns upside down of literal drug addicts makes me a little sour they didn't include something like this. It low key makes her sound like a more competent adult instead of delusional if she thought about the idea of therapy knowing how heavy these problems are.
(Also her actually getting sort of upset at her father makes her daddy issues situation more interesting and real because it appears to be an actual conflict)

I still overall liked current show, but these episode concepts would have been really good. I like how these ideas had more slice of life moments between the characters and feel more fleshed out. It is nice that it sounds like Season 2 might incorporate more of these. Part of why i prefer Helluva Boss a bit more is because of the more episodic format.

I feel a lot different now knowing what this show could've been. But I see why changes happened. Like you said, Vox and Velvette got more screen time in the final show, and it also led to Stayed Gone, which to this day is my favourite song from the show. And there are people like me who only watched the pilot before the main show and not any of the live streams or fun looking comics, so we would've known who Pentious is better than Baxter. Either way though, these scrapped or original episodes and plotlines you've told us about are definitely interesting. And now I hope they get put into Season 2 in some way.

I honestly would like to see these plots in the future. It would be sick! Rearranged, they would fit very well with the new Hazbin Hotel plot. Some of the ones they could use are Baxter saving his friends from a gang, the explaination of why Niffty likes bad boys, Mimzy as a new member new guest at the hotel after a typical day, the appearance of the Seven, the introduction of Seviathan and her sister and Maxine and the day of the challenge.

It certainly would have been a way more balanced season 1.
The “fight Heaven” plot should have been relegated to season 2, albeit with build up in season 1, and the first season would have been better exploring more the characters and the concept of redemption.
These ideas are so good. If Amazon Prime didn't limit the amount of episodes, it would be so much better.

Ngl I kinda want to see what the old version of Hazbin Hotel would look like, the pilot was definitely better than the actual show and I kind of wanted more episodes like that but when I saw it on Prime Video it didn’t match the pilot at all, I kinda like Velvette, but I kinda wanted to see what she would look like as the psycho she used to be, you know?

Well this is all good and thanks for sharing. But I heard season 2 would have 8 episodes.
A lot of these stories sound fun, but they also feel less connected. What we got introduced the characters extremely well and also showed how connected they are. There don't seem to be any high stakes and it feels like the story is just meandering along like a filler, but filler doesn't work when you don't know the characters yet and don't care about them or the stakes. From a story perspective the final show is definitely better. It hints at some stuff and keeps things exciting for future seasons
Connected? Not trying to be rude but its connected like a wooden table pieced together by paper glue.
Tbh there is no reason to have high stakes in season 1 and 8 episodes just wait for finale.
Filler does work in this case because the characters are explored more and you pay attention to it so you care abt them than brushing aside for some random plot point that take up the 1/3 of the episode.
@@Mrblueguy1 The episodes were very well connected because you had the repeated conflict of Charlie trying to talk to Heaven, the same characters from the pilot appeared in in the episodes and the episodes picked up right were the previous one ended. Sir Pentious appeared in the Pilot -> Sir Pentious appeared as a revewed rival -> then as a guest -> Then as a long time rival/love interest, plus she was introduced as Angels friend. The Vees posed an overarching rivalry/threat towards Angel as well as Alastor.
Characters trying to get rid of a hornets nest seems more like a random prompt that could be explored in a few minutes. The old episode pitches seem more like an episodic loony-toons type of show where a timeline doesn't matter. Of course such shows can be entertaining but the format doesn't lend itself to explore deeper, character driven stories. You also can't pull a loony-toons audience in and then change the format in season 2. Helluva Boss was more like what you envision I guess, but that show also turned out to be more character driven which makes the beginning feel a little more disconnected/ disjointed and people now complain how they miss this or that and want more of XY. That's why it's important for bigger productions to know exactly what they want to go for. Setting up a consistent tone helps meeting expectations of the target audience better.
@@inu506 I’m sorry, but I gotta disagree with the whole ”Those formats can’t tell deeper stories”. A lot of shows did that- Owl House, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls... and they managed it very well (I’ll give you that SU could have been a bit shorter but still)
The problem that happened in HB (and reason why some folks were not pleased with it mostly) was that the pace change was immediate: there was barely, if any, transition.
Usually, the first season introduce the world and is mostly abt random shenanigans, with maybe just a little bit of plot here and there, the second season has a good mix between plot and random shenanigans, and third season goes full plot. Depending on how many season they get it can change, but that’s basically the big scheme.
That was not the case of HB. We switched from random to full plot-driven veeeery fast, so ofc people felt like they were watching a completely different show. Which is not surprising, especially when, so far, the plot is more about Stoliz than the story itself (what was even the story? It kind of got lost so far)
The problem with HH, and lot of people in this comment section are talking abt it, was that you barely have time to breathe when watching HH. It’s not ”badly connected” per say, but Sweet Lord it’s like we’re speedrunning this shit.
That thing with the hornets nest? Like you said, maybe it would last only a couples of minute, like 5-10, but that’s exactly what we need! The point of a B-plot is to act as some kind of break from the episode actual plot, which would be Angel’s situation here (and considering how much of punch in the guts that episode was for people due to the tone change, it would have been appreciated). Besides, it’s not like we got any B-plot in the actual episode, so what does a few minute with the gang trying to deal with a nest would do that would be bad, instead of, again, just giving a few minutes to breathe and taking in all the infos we’re getting abt Angel?
It also gives a good reason for the others characters to not interfer with said plot, while still being present on screen (also I’m sorry but the thought that Alastor had trouble dealing with the nest is absolutely hilarious and I need to see it now).
So yeah, not saying you can’t like the show as it is rn, but it would have absolutely gained with those silly plot lines in between actual plot, and just, yk, better pacing. And I can agree with @Mrblueguy1 here. You don’t usually have super high stake in the first season, especially such short season. The Finale seems more like the finale of a second or even a third season right before shits hit the fan, when the plot starts plotting hard, not after an 8 episodes season.
@@FluffySnow15 I agree that having B plots is great. I think a mix of the versions could have been fun, but if I had to choose between the old and new I’d definitely choose the new version. Things seem better connected in that version and that’s the type of stories I prefer. Episodic stuff can be fun but personally I get tired of that fast. I know what to expect and it get’s resolved each episode. I prefer over arching stories, long stories ect. and I think that’s something Hazbin set up for really well. Yes, it would have been great to see a little more in general and having a little filler mixed in, but it’s really good to see development already. What I am curious and a little concerned about is how they can keep the character development up throughout all seasons. If there’s one thing I would have loved to have a little more time/filler in-between it’s Angel’s story line. And you’re right about the final too. So a mix of plot ideas could have been fun. Maybe we can get that for season 2. I’m also very excited for the new songs but concerned at the same time. How will more songs fit in without giving the non-song-plot enough time to move?
@@inu506That’s the reason why people weren’t fan of the fast pacing, we already had quite a lot of character development so far, and there’s going to be a point where they won’t progress anymore, hopefully it’ll be more towards the end of the show but it does worry me too...
Also, I feel like people (not specially you, just everyone in general) tends to forget that this ”Bible” of the show only gives us the synopsis of the plots, and that we’re missing episodes here. Maybe there was more to it, like important details and revelations, but that is not something you would show here- so maybe it had more story? Especially if we go from the idea that the original season had 12 episodes only, which is still shorter than the other shows I mentionned earlier, so I guess there would have been some kind of speed-things-up towards the end of the season (my best guess would be after Charlie’s meeting with the Sins)
For the songs, well! It’s going to show Viv’s abilities to create an actual musical! See, in musicals, the plot progresses during the song itself, like in Ready for This, or You didn’t know. We could totally have more ”silly” songs during those B-plots, that wouldn’t be as serious as some others songs, a bit like Alastor’s Reprise in the Pilot. It would actually be cool to have one song for the main plot and one for the side-plot, plus that would mean we’d get two (possibly) very different sounding songs
Since some of these ideas were probably cut due to season 1 only having 8 episodes, I wonder if we may see some of them in Season 2.
As much as I hate the von eldritches I do hope we get to see them in the future and learn about Charlie and sevaithen ( idk how to spell his name) or and episode like “exes and ohs” where vaggie is present

I see a lot of people arguing this problem would've never happened if Habin stayed indie, but people who say this don't know what they're talking about. Keeping both up as indie shows would be a logistics nightmare. That's the key thing people don't understand, logistics is the final word in anything not just in the military. Even when it comes to shows logistics decide if one goes indie or not. Having one be indie, Helluva Boss, while the other becomes a full TV Show, Hazbin Hotel, at the cost of some of their original plans hut the show's potential, but it was better in the long run to alleviate the logistics problem running two indie shows at the same time would've costed SpindelHorse.

Who knew the hornet's nest idea Viv had was gonna be implemented into "Masquerade"? Honestly they made the right call, tho i hope they reuse the idea later on.
I really love the final show, but its a lot like a roller coaster with no loops, no hills, no slow climb to the sudden drop. It's just an extremely fast ride in an oval before its done, yes its still fun, but it's missing a lot of aspects that make roller coasters as fun as they are. Hazbin Hotel needed that slow climb to the sudden drop, the loops, the hills, it needed slower parts, filler, thriller, and everything to fully flesh it out into one helluva roller coaster ride. I don't really blame Vivzie for so much being missing, I feel like she tried to do her best with what amazon allowed her. I'm hopeful for the second season, I think we will be getting a lot more than the first season, and I'm even more hopeful for some more worldbuilding!!!
She got given 8 episodes to work with but I really wish she took a risk and made season one how we all expected it to be, while leaving some of the plot points and characters for later seasons. I don't think it would have been cancelled had it been done well, and if it was then it could just go back to being indie animated. (Even if we have to wait for Helluva Boss to finish first)
I think the original idea of Hazbin Hotel was a lot better. This is what we've been asking for and we got robbed so hard all because a major company wanted to play it safe and rush things.
To be fair, the team could have slowed down the story to not feel as rushed. I doubt they were told exactly what to put into each of the 8 episodes by the execs.

Given how character focused the actual concept was (redeeming sinners), I feel like the structure seen in the drafts is much better than what we got. These drafts are so character focused, and could still have left room for the worldbuilding. What we got was...alright, but It was not a smart move to introduce three new characters and five new worldbuilding ideas (hyperbole, but you know what I mean) each episode. I feel like the vivzie-verse lacks focus, while these drafts show that focus that was missing
I really like the show as it is now, but it’s fun to see what was originally on the table before production made cuts. What would be really nice is if they could do Hazbin shorts like the Helluva Boss ones, but that’s probably not possible, unfortunately.
I'm honestly happy with the hazbin hotel from amazon we got. And maybe vivziepop could re-use some things of those early concepts
It seems like the stakes were just as high in the pitch bible with the extermination being moved up. I don’t know if people would’ve appreciated the filler given that.
This is more in line with what I thought the show would be: An episodic slice of life kind of thing.
The content from the Pilot era really made it look that way.

It's strange that Alastor had almost no story/screen time almost like side character👍 It personally think that original was almost perfect with character design and really random and creative story. I didn't like how much thay stres about extemenation(?) and Alastor and Lucifer's rivality.. I think that Vix as side character is perfect as i don't like at all.. This is an good example of first draft vs final draft. *A final draft should never look the same as your first draft.* Things, characters, and story elements *should* change as you go through multiple drafts. Some things will remain the same, yes, but drafting and editing means changes transpire.
Ik but that have good pacing and actually focus on the hotel instead of every plot point that could've been saved in a different season in a single epsiode.

For me it’s feels like future episodes or how I see it future episodes and basically the comics are the future episodes in season two later in the future
I wanna say I feel like we were horribly robbed from all the sir pentitious stuff. However we got vox and hes just nonexistent in the pilot so if they went with the og pitch we would have never gotten the second best character from the show
The Vs existed in the Pilot days (I think they actually appeared breifly in the pilot?) And they would have probably been made into season 2 villains.
i love how the show turned out, but i do miss how the pilot was so quirky and wacky and i wish we could have seen more of that style in the final show. the pilot also seemed much more lighthearted then the final show, and the songs were much different, like the pilot was funny and cute and the final show was much more dramatic (which i also love too)
