I just took my CPAT here! The team and the instructor there is great. Very hands on and makes sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself in too! 10 out of 10
Had another serious contender make an attempt at the facility record. Time was 7 minutes, 40 seconds, which is fantastic for a first attempt (first is usually the worst). He'll be back.
Had another challenger. Very impressive first time performance. Weighed in at only 155lbs, but he completed the test in 7 minutes, 37 seconds. Great shot at breaking seven minute mark on a subsequent test.
Previous facility record was 7 minutes, 25 seconds. That record was fairly impressive because that candidate was considerably smaller (170lbs) but with fantastic cardio endurance
The next challenge regarding our facility record is to finish under 7 minutes, which should be very possible. This candidate was in position to finish under 7 mins, but unfortunately he lost his helmet in the maze, which probably cost him an estimated 10 seconds.
Had a challenger to this time record this week: candidate did well, but came up short with a very good 7 minutes, 28 seconds, which is the third best time recorded at our facility. Waiting on the candidate to break 7 minutes.
For the purposes of setting the fastest possible time…. I would recommend that big, strong candidates use an upper-body-only approach to the Breach and Pull. I prefer to put myself in one spot and not move my feet for the remainder of the event. Then, simply squeeze the pole (without using the bottom) and perform, effectively, military presses and lat pulldowns with your arms only. With sufficient upper body & grip strength, this “inefficient” approach will save time, as it results in less overall movement and no need to reposition your feet. I’m not small (185#), but this candidate is even bigger and stronger, and should find this technique to be a few seconds faster.
Agree completely regarding your comment about the feet. Moving your feet back and forth costs time, costs energy. In this video, I think the candidate did tried to minimize moving his feet while in the cage; he stumbled in the first set because I think he was fairly winded. After the first set, he maintained his position well. One thing he did show: a candidate can navigate this course in under 7 minutes. We will release a video on how to trim time from this performance. The biggest time waster for this candidate on this performance: he lost his helmet in the maze.
Great video. Helps a lot

Thanks for the feedback and delighted that the video helped in your test preparation.
Great job Max!
I think before too long, he will come back and beat the seven minute mark.
Awesome job!
