  • Palmdale is located in the Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County. City population is 165,761. The most important industry for Palmdale is the aerospace industry. Many manufacturing companies have relocated to Palmdale seeking more affordable land, proximity to Palmdale Airport, and special tax breaks. Palmdale refers to itself with the nickname the "aerospace capital of the United States". The city has been the site of research, development, assembly and testing of the Space Shuttle, B-21 Raider, F-117 Nighthawk, F-22 Raptor, and many other aircraft.
Palmdale is home to major operations of aerospace companies: Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. Largest employers: Lockheed Martin (3,700), Northrop Grumman (2,100) and Antelope Valley Mall (1,800).
The Antelope Valley has a history of famous residents of the film and music industry, such as John Wayne, Frank Zappa and Judy Garland.
Some of the best neighborhoods in Palmdale are Rancho Vista, Anaverde and Joshua Hills.

@@modsurgeon I live out here and do delivery work that puts me all over town and even growing up here all my life it sometimes blows me away seeing people pull into gated communities in the best parts of town wearing colors for some of the most notorious biker "clubs." It's not like I see it all the time but that's probably what makes it more off-putting when I do see it. Looking at crime stats online it says things have improved over the last 20 years but in living here I can't say I agree. It feels like it's progressively getting worse and I'd be thrilled for the chance to leave.

      Barbara,
I wish you luck living in Palmdale. I hope everthing works out.
We are putting our house up for sale on June 15th. We can no longer tolerate the disrespectful citizens of Palmdale or the taco carts that have inundated our community. Especially the idiot on our block who has twice tried to start a taco stand in his home.
      This is ridiculous.
There is a common denominator in all this. But I'll let you figure out what that may be.
As for sex offenders, thank you for doing your part years ago in hopefully sending Mario back to jail.
      Good luck

Palmdale is not a happy place and a lot of crime on the east side of Palmdale. The worst area is 25th Street East Ave S. BE VERY CAREFUL. Im from and live on 25th Street and I'm just warning you.

Erin Moran said she lived here with her husband Steve. Just wanted to have a look. I really liked her so much.
i believe what she was trying to say when she was on Maury i think it was, before any of the tacky stuff, back when he was a reporter.
Something happened to her while on Happy Days. She also had a terrible experience with a producer after Happy Days and just before Joanie loves Chachi.
She went through some stuff and it really effected her.
I noticed how quick Scott was to trash her. A lot of bad feelings between them. Too bad she didn't have the support she needed. I think of her quite often.

Nothing really. But if memory serves me correctly, she may have been with Chachi/Scott when he came over to Littlerock in his limousine to buy coke from my brother in law.
Imagine, a little tiny house in Littlerock with a short dirt driveway. A driveway that could not accommodate Chachi's limousine. So the tail would hang out onto the street.

The Antelope Valley (Palmdale and Lancaster) is the armpit of the high desert. If you love your family or yourself you WON'T move to that toilet. DON'T MOVE THERE DON'T !!! If you hate someone, tell that special individual to invest everything into moving there. I'm so glad I finally left. I feel blessed.😅

    • @ConfusedMountainLandscap-me1tf

Calling an area an armpit or a toilet is sort of interesting ~
      It's more like a Town.
And the people here are just like people everywhere else.
It's very quiet and spacious in Palmdale.
There is a new atmosphere of peace here, and a simple life can be attained.
I have been living locally here for around twenty years. Littlerock, Lancaster and Palmdale are decent places, where family life is actually becoming the new normal.
The awakening to get back to a more peaceful humble existence is actually happening here, despite a few sour apples who say that isn't the case.
The recent epidemic affected everyone in an extreme manner.
We are just attempting to stay in gratitude here.
We are not trying to compete with anyone nor be concerned much outside our own families
      .
You hardly ever hear sirens anymore (even at night, even in East Palmdale) because former crime is way down.
      Everyone seems fairly content here.
There is one "old gramma" who yells a lot, and everybody loves her anyway 😂 (she just misses her family)
It's a pretty cool place to live and very protective of its citizens.
      😊 BTW
      Wherever You Go
      There You Are
      ~❤~
I wish you peace and prosperity.

There is a koan, about a wise man sitting on a hill above a township, a traveler wanders toward the man, asks what the town is like...and. the old man shares that perspective effects everything ~ so the way a Town is, is affected by the person who views the area.
It is perhaps better for them who have an appreciation for quiet spaces... and it has become incredibly quiet here.

Palmdale used to be OK when the 1984 Olympics was being ready. L.A.County paid many people to move up hear and it brought gangs and the crime rate went up. Now we're seeing more homeless people being brought up and WELL look at the parks and streets

Place is a shit hole. There are very few, IF ANY pros to living in Palmdale. Rampant crime should be the main reason to hate this place, but the growing homelessness/panhandling, deteriorating roads and just overall lack of respect and pride for your own community are right up there with it.

Well, I moved here 9 years after living 15 years in the Bronx & Queens. So for me its much better then were I used to live. No alternate parking in my block. I love the climate. But yeah, not much going on here. But I am over 50 and my wild days are long gone, so that is just fine with me. I am also extremely lucky , so far, with the rent I am paying for my house. Most pay almost double of what I pay. I am also blessed with a job that pays for my mileage and commuting times since I work as a Field Service tech. It makes commuting much more bearable if you get paid for it. But yes, its a LONG grinding commute. It can take up easily 3-4 hours a day depending on where you have to go. People that move here for the slightly cheaper housing often don't calculate the cost of daily commute. And with those Commie-fornia gas prices it is substantial. I live well here, I have a good income and live by myself with my dogs. . BUT, I do not know how folks with lower income and family make it. This is an area where having a car is a MUST, unlike NYC were its more of a burden . I noticed that People here are quite uninformed overall and many have never travelled far.
