I love making string blocks, and you've given me so many ideas. My goal for 2024 is to get these quilt tops made into usable quilts. This past year has been a learning experience, and one of battles fought and won. Still fighting a big one, but this too shall pass ❤ Your shows are such a blessing, and I have rewatched several. Love you, my friend , God bless ❤ I also found 3 rolls of adding machine tape, so plan to make so crumb tapes 😉
@kymburriss4260 I don't know how you do it, but you always look at the bright side of things even when your challenged in many ways. You say I give you ideas....but I say you inspire me. I have said this before and I will remind everyone about this...it is people like you who show up and bring their positivity to this channel...you are the reason why I show up and do my best to make content. Thank you for your constant support and inspiration @kymburriss4260! Lets put 2023 behind us and I wish you all the best in 2024!!!
My goals for 2024 are to continue to reorganize my quilting and sewing stuff; continue to sort scraps and make up “kits” for future projects. I will attempt to create fabric snippet rolls, which I am very excited about! Will give me a chance to use up other supplies I have a ton of - lace, ribbon, buttons, etc!
@dianewatson1356 We have very very similar goals! I desparately need to use up a lot of supplies and not just keep buying...my whole apartment is stuffed with so many craft supplies. You know how they say you eat with your eyes so you order everything on the menu and end up with leftovers? thats me with crafting supplies. Thanks for sharing!
@veraweeks8534 I would agree, especially on this block. I keep saying I might want to make a whole quilt out of each of these blocks in this series. I need to be careful since I am adding more projects to my list. Thanks for sharing!
Love strings. Not sure why but when my sewing group made them 15 yrs ago, it was called a Spider Quilt! I quilted it with “webs” and embroidered a couple of friendly spiders on it for fun. lol. Thanks for a great year, Eric. It’s been fun! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
@cyn4rest you know....names of some of these quilt blocks are so confusing because people name them different things. I wish there was some type of quilt block registry where we could have a dfinitive source of what the name of a block is, and the history/story behind it. Thanks for sharing!
@@TreasureHeartCreations Actually there is such a book. It was published about 20-25 years ago. Sorry I can neither remember the author or book title but when/if I remember I’ll be sure to let you know. I might even have it in my library. I know I did have it at one time. I’ll keep my eyes open for it.
I’d love a year of finish-it-up! I read this past year someone numbered their projects, then drew a number each month and had to complete that item. You could tell us…”Now go out there and FINISH something!” Lol.
@barbmckinlay5108 honestly I think i need a decade of lets finish it up. I have heard of people doing the same numbering thing too....I think I will have to give it a try. But first I will have to pull out all the projects in progress in which I am scared to see that pile. Thanks for sharing!
I organized a “Wait Loss” Challenge with our quilt guild in 2019. (What are you “waiting” for?). It had a lot of participation, and the sew-and-tell portion of the meetings were great! In addition to quilts, we also saw other kinds of projects, even painted barn quilts! I even actually completed all 12 of my UFO’s, too. I made layout boards, beaded stiletto’s, numbered row pins, lanyards, tea wallets, and more to give out to those with monthly progress. That was another way to use up excess supplies I had!
@sandiadger8354 Hm...that is a great idea; maybe we can have something on Zoom where everyone works on WIPS....Okay now the wheels in my brain are moving. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
@judyhebert8928 thank you; yes phonebooks are good for this. Problem is that phone books are so rare these days. I just tend to use what I got and if its free or low cost I'll use it. Thanks for sharing!
@tamaraguckert8653 no worries! I myself have gotten so far behind on a lot of series that I've been following...I plan to binge watch during Christmas! Glad this series is giving you different ideas!
Thank Eric i have made a few string quilts and still have more scraps. Just as soon as i finish my grandchildrens quilts i will maybe get to the scraps. I want to make a quilt coat or make myself a quilt. God bless you Marry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@veliatorrez6523 I want to learn how to make a quilt coat! I need to make some quilt clothing....that way I can finally tell Jenny Doan I made my pants....quilt pants that is. LOL Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays!
I love string blocks in any shape or form. They are easy and pack a dramatic punch depending on the layout and/or colors. I make my bocks QAYG. My goals for 2024 is to make more content for my channel. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@quiltinginthemancave5643 I do like string blocks since it is kind of mindless sewing and I don't have to think so hard. Problem is I hoard them and don't turn them into quilt tops. But I'll still keep making them. I won't lie; making content for TH-cam isn't as easy and people make it look so I certainly understand the struggle. Keep at it though because you never know when it will blow up and pay off. Thanks for sharing!
I need to finish my many WIPs. My goal is one a month. Which means I can’t start any new projects. Oh my that’s going to be hard but I’ll give it a try.
@jeanniewalen3721 Okay lets get to work together! I am going to strive to get 12 WIPS done in 2024! LOL and I will hold you accountable if you do start more projects! Thanks for sharing!
@bonniepennybacker6000 I am staring to getting in to more art/portrait/applique type of quilts myself. Thus far my scrap stash for this is rather small. I've been reading and learning different techniques to hopefully make my own quilt soon. Thanks for sharing!
@sandiadger8354 look at this other person @terribishop5313 because you may have a copy cat. I noticed they have the same profile picture...well unles that is actually you.

The Diamond Strings block looks great with the crumb strings!
@manunui871 you think so? I kind of thought so too.....I might have to do more I like it so much. Thanks for sharing!
I think extra blocks put into a quilt would be good. I like the idea of WIP’s finishing would be good also.
@veraweeks8534 I would agree, especially on this block. I keep saying I might want to make a whole quilt out of each of these blocks in this series. I need to be careful since I am adding more projects to my list. Thanks for sharing!

@judyhebert8928 thank you; yes phonebooks are good for this. Problem is that phone books are so rare these days. I just tend to use what I got and if its free or low cost I'll use it. Thanks for sharing!
