    These guys are so badass, easily the best faction imo.
    They lost their lord to the rot, abandoned their homes to stay in the hellscape that is Caelid to fight a losing battle, hold a festival to put their once great general to rest… unwavering and unbreakable.

      I don't know, almost every area in the lands between has it's own "ecology" or individual aspect that separates them from one another. Probably due to the influence of some outer god or the type of magic that the people of said area use.
      So lets see: Caelid was ruled by Radahn, the son of Rennala a glintstone user and a master of gravity magic and is were onyx and alabaster lords teached gravity magic, Caelid had its own glintstone mines but also the church of dragon communion and that area were the giant dragon was, there were a lot of giant bones littering the place so the influence of the giant's Fell god may have been a factor before Malenia spread it around after her bloom, it had Selia where they studied nigth magic (so it probably had clear skies at night) and it had the eternal city beneah.
      I'm starting to think that it was the Lands Between's version of Australia.

    • @quetzalcoatl1013

      Caelid before rot was likely very arid. While the upper area near limgrave would have had grass, as well as the dragonbarrow due to the frequent rainfall, the lower half of Caelid was likely an arid landscape of stone, dry grasses, and sand. The Gael prison(forgetting actual name, one with all the cells with fire zombies) is a sandstone cave. Then the wailing dunes also exist past red mane castle and at a lower elevation than the more fertile dragonbarrow.
      Due to these facts, most of Caelid before the Aeonia was likely an arid landscape with fertile regions to the north, considering how the ghost at the rot view balcony laments the destruction of his home, it’s likely that caelid was beautiful in some sense. In my mind the closest thing I can imagine is Utah’s Arches National Park for a good reference.

They use everything they can to stop these monsters to leave Caelid and that alone makes them the most badass faction in the game to me.

    The Redmanes are the only sect of Knights that could possibly rival the Miquellan Knight’s. Still a stretch, but I believe they could sack the Haligtree given the proper circumstances. If Radahn went after Malenia, the Redmanes would raze the Haligtree to the ground. After all it doesn’t have the golden protection or barbed root seal that the Erdtree does. Maybe that’s because Miquella was taken, so it’s ward was taken also. Idk. Just cool to think about.

    • @noxealga
      @noxealga 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They’d easily sack the haligtree. They won the battle against malenia, the only reason it’s the way it is is because malenia used her cowardice flower thing. Radahn and the Redmanes wiped them on the battlefield. They also killed me more than the cleanrots did😂

      @@noxealgaActually it’s been stated the cleanrot knights were defeating the redmanes. Though Malenia and Rahdahn were both in stalemate. Eventually the redmanes would be overwhelmed by the quality of the cleanrot knights

    • @maxiguidetti7228

      Even getting to the Haligtree is a whole challange, since they'd have to go all across the lands between and traverse the deadly snowy desert that is the Consecrated Snowfield. Then they'd have to maneuver down the tree itself, opposed by a small population of tough non-humans and Loretta. And finally their grinded down numbers would find themselves opposed by tougher non-humans, Cleanrots Knights and a fresh host of Miquellan lordsworns, the least numerous lordsworns, but also the toughest. The Redmanes are badasses but I really doubt they're pulling that off.

    I feel like if you wanted to do a RP run a interesting idea would be to play as someone descended for tarnished who either were once a part of/served with the redmanes. The whole war with Melania would not have happened until your character/their ancestors already left the lands between, meaning that the desolation of the rot and Radahn would be unknown to you.
    It may be fun messing around with how our character would respond to that, as well as how it would inform their view of Melenia and of Millicent as the game went on, and how those thoughts might change when you find her and her home blighted, much as Caelid is.

    Great video, very entertaining as always! Alas, i want to mention this:
    Correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think its mentioned by NPCs or anywhere in the item description that Cleanrot Knights defeated Radahn's forces in battle. The only similar thing was in Redmane Armor's description saying that they were quote on quote "driven to defeat by Malenia's scarlet rot"
    That implies that they couldn't protect their land, since it became lifeless, twisted and overall one of the most horrible places in all Lands Between.
    We can see Radahn's soldiers and Redmanes all over Caelid, fighting off Scarlet Rot and all mutant creatures inhabiting Caelid, while few Cleanrot Knights that were left were driven into the swamp or retreated to Haligtree together with unconcious Malenia.
    Also they seem to be fighting in War-Deaed Catacombs against Malenia's knights as equals.
    As i see it, judging by info we have Redmane Knights haven't lost any battles, but they lost the war since their leader who they have sworn to protect became a mindless husk, and their land became uninhabitable. And despite all this they refuse to give up the fight, which makes them even more respected in my eyes.

The set is in Gelmir's Heroes Graves and the shield can be buy from Leyndell's Merchant. So no frustration in farming for this.
    Interestingly, no Gelmir Knight enemy in the game and the only knight we seen are a ghost in Volcano Manor who ask us to kill Rykard.
    That's why I'm cosplayed as The Last Gelmir Knight and playthrough with STR/FTH build right now.

Our understanding of the rot is obviously incomplete, since we don't even know exactly what it is. realistically the best case scenario would probably be the influence of the rot slowing to something approaching a manageable level, and assuming we don't go for the "burn it all" ending, we can do something about it as elden lord (because idk about anyone else but that would be the first thing I'd be trying to deal with after the story ends)

      Technically we never see the knights faces. If you take the helmet off the character models there's nothing underneath. It seems like most commoners have gray, wrinkled faces, likely due to the removal of the rune of death and their advanced age.

    Eh? That's not true at all. Radahn's forces were held off by Morgot's forces, along with anyone that tried to attack the capitol. They clearly had been beaten or at the least fended off. Only Malenia's were said to have no been beaten Even then, it seems as though the fight was still going until the Bloom was used, saying that defeated them. You can't fight rot. It's never said if Radahn had been beaten or by whom, unless undefeated means only victories and no stale-mates. It would seem the only time that had been faced is when Malenia fought Radahn, who was the strongest and there had been no reason to have fought prior. She was forced to bloom in order for a draw, so being the strongest doesn't mean smartest, and undefeated just means up until you are. I don't believe she would have used it unless in an act of desperation, or it means she flippantly used something she knew would have dire consequences for the land. Still turned out that way since it was a battle she chose not to relent.

    • @square-table-gaming
      @square-table-gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Radahn lost to Morgott directly. There is artwork of him being stabbed through the shoulder and we know he retreated. It's likely if it were just a battle of armies the redmanes could have won, but that's based solely on the way they are described in-game. I don't believe we say anywhere that the redmanes were undefeated. Malenias goal was to stop radahn, not to kill him or take his rune. In that she succeeded and Radahn failed.

    • @blumiu2426
      @blumiu2426 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@square-table-gaming Do we know that actually? The only indication was the illustration of the two in confrontation (I believe Radahn was holding back the staff with both hands, not that he was stabbed), but it never said Radahn lost in personal combat as next we see Radahn, he's fighting Malenia and both are unscathed (granted whenever the conflict took place). Nothing says Radahn was wounded, either, as that would be significant.
      Someone made a video as well pointing out the artwork was a depiction, not actual, as there were inconsistencies with the sizes of the two. Either way, we know Radahn's forces retreated and Morgott held off everyone.
      There wasn't anything saying Radahn's forces were undefeated, only Malenia's troops. It would seem see or her troops were more tactically inclined, not just strong and had some magical ability. The lore is strange in that it isn't clear what prior conflicts established these troops. One would think if Malenia had never been beaten, her troops could have handled the significant conflicts, yet that doesn't seem to be the case with opposition still coming from all sides.
      Was it said why the two fought? And I don't think the explanation makes sense given she pulled her trump card, cost her, her troops, and essentially the bloom killed Radahn slowly. If she were trying to halt his progress, a direct conflict wouldn't make sense. There are military maneuver's to slow an army, a duel is the complete opposite. So in that regard, the lore stating it a stalemate makes sense; he failed in whatever his goal was, and she failed if she only meant to stop him and destroyed the land and spread rot to both troops. It can only be deliberate choice of desperation as she knew the consequences of blooming, or she didn't care and did it, knowing the consequences.

      It seems as though every castle is adorned with banished knight armor somewhere. You could see it as the standard armor for knights across the lands between, but it's most likely an easy use of a general asset for aesthetic purposes. I always hesitate to say that with any confidence though because of how thorough FromSoft is.

Is that just the era Godfrey came up in?
