Spraying Corn Food Plots - Corn Update

In this video I am spraying both our corn plots with glyphosate. Both our corn plots are around 3/4 of an acre and a total of 1.5 acres of corn. It’s really taking off after spraying it and it’s going to be an excellent winter food source for the deer. Stay tuned and keep checking back for more food plot videos and updates coming this year.

Yeah preen probably won’t do much. You are going to need a post emergent herbicide to totally knock out the weeds.

No, the only fertilizer applied was during the planting.

Wow what's the spacing between rows and the crop?

The rows are all around 38 inches. The spacing in between plants can vary anywhere from 6 inches to a foot. It probably could’ve been planted a little bit thicker

Sweet corn is not round up ready so I use Simazine which is a pre emergent herbicide. This video was ag corn. Not sweet corn by the way.

How many quarts of herbicide to a fifty gallons of water in your sprayer

My sprayer is only 25 gallons and I usually mix at 2 oz per gallon. So that would be 50oz in 25 gallons which is around 1.5 quarts. That’s 3 quarts in 50 gallons

Yes, that year I’m pretty sure we put down 4-5 bags on that corn plot 3/4 acre in size. This year I’m going lighter on the fertilizer because of the price hike.

I usually use 2oz per gallon. If you want to kill brush you will probably need to go at least 3 oz.

Your welcome. I have sprayed as low as 1 oz per gallon and had success. But some broadleaf weeds can be hard to kill sometimes and that’s why I go with 2 oz.

Vichai Xiong yes any farm store will have it. I don’t think Walmart does. I know farm and fleet and Theisens sell it. Not many fleet farm stores around our area but I am sure they sell it too.
