I collected mine last Saturday, and can't seem to take my hands off it. The Yamaha P525 is truly a magnificent (and addictive) portable piano - possibly the best I've played.
3:00 Gladiator. It looks like a great instrument. The binaural audio (via headphones) with the CFX really impresses me most on these Yamahas, including on the SH silent systems.
Excellent review and demonstration. I live in the East Coast US. I watched this a few weeks ago and it led me to a decision to return my P-225, purchased 6 weeks ago, and upgrade to the P-525. And I'm so glad I did!
does the P525 have a lot more depth, clarity, dynamic range and quality of sound? I got a P225 and I am incredibly disappointed with everything about it.
Interesting. I just got a P225 yesterday. My first digital piano. I think it sounds amazing, compared next to my FL Studio setup with a MIDI controller (Novation FLkey 61). I want to see a comparison between the P225 and P525, but cannot find one. I could potentially make the swap too. I am happy for now though.
Hello Tony, thank you for the excellent presentation. I always look forward to your reviews. It is quite obvious that you are classically trained, and you have excellent tecnique.
Hi Tony, Sound OK in isolation. Would you be able to do comparison videos between the P515 and P525 so we can consider the changes and assess if the improvements are trivial or significant? It would also be good to have a comparison video to show how the P525 compares to the ES920 and FP90X.
I kind of did a video talking about the p525 and p515. In summary my conclusion was that they're basically the same as far as sound quality goes the only major difference being the light key action.
@@elsuity6580 This is how I'm seeing it. Can't hear a significant upgrade in the CFX sample or any of the others for that matter. Then it comes down to whether you prefer a light keybed - I'm fine with the P515's NWX and think it better represents the resistance of an acoustic piano.
@@elsuity6580 Yes. The hint is also that still only the CFX has binaural sampling. The new samples (on CLP-7xx series) have binaural sampling also for the Bosendorfer. Makes me even happier I'm not missing out with the 515. To be honest, I'm not sure if the new samples would be better anyway, they sound a bit lifeless to me. The Grand Expression Modeling sound just like a marketing mumbo jambo without substance, only underlined by the fact it sounds just like the previous generation.
I do think it's a shame Yamaha seem to have ditched their NWX action as found in the P515 My only experience of it was playing a CLP 645 for a wedding. It felt amazing in my opinion and i loved the really heavy action. The Grand Touch S is definitely lighter.
I love my Yamaha p525. it is far more expressive of an instrument than the p515 was; the action is much smoother and more responsive. it's not as deep of an action and it's much easier to play rapid passages such as Chopin's 16th Prelude. I love it I recommend it to everyone it's a beautiful instrument by it you'll love it
Is the CFX sample any different from the 515? I can't hear it if so. Also, the lighter touch keyboard might not be to everyone's taste. I was hoping Yamaha would put the CLP785's Grand Touch (with counterweights) keybed in this one. At this point I'm minded to keep the 515.
Keep your P515 (as I am doing). The sound in this is actually WORSE to my ears and the keyboard action is very unbalanced. I'm not sure where anyone is getting information that there are 'new' samples in this instrument?
Thx, i am going to buy a 515. Played it in a store and it felt so comfy. When i hear the sound of the 525 i think it must be a lowprice stagepiano, haha. 😅
Thank you for your review. I'm not a major, but I've been playing the piano for about 25 years as a hobby and now I'm practicing to play Chopin's waltz. I have a question. I'm going to buy a new piano because the CLP440 I've used for over 10 years is not in good condition. P525 and CLP745 are being compared. Which is the better choice between the two?
In fact, the keys are the same but the huge difference I think is the portability of this one (but has less power in term of speakers) and has more sounds. The 745 is more aesthetic and already has the stand but is a bit more expensive, it also has more colors availible. The bluetooth connectivities are the same so u can use smart pianist with both and reccord. So you choice will depend on what you prefer, having a more realistic look with a bit more power or if you prefer something you can move with and has more songs to play like old synth and this stuff... (The song with headphones is the same even the amplifier power is different)
@@NBodi the CP88 key are wood keys. The CP88 is equipped with the NW-GH3 action which is basically the same action than the P515 ( NWX) with the escapement simulation taken. The CP88 has a quite heavy touch and is delight to play.
L7B (B just stands for black). No it just rests on there as the stand has some pads at the top. I don't really recommend this personally as it is definitely an inch or two higher compared to the average piano and quite a bit higher than a grand especially. You can't adjust it as sturdy as the L7B is.
@@PedroGometzI'm not saying it's not adequate! I'm saying the pianos could have much better screens! It's a totally unnecessary economy in these days! Today, if the piano comes with a screen I think it deserves (and, obviously, us) a much better quality one!
@@m4rcioflima Agreed, especially as something like their DGX670 has a better screen and costs half the price. Perhaps they’ve kept it small/simple to fit the minimalist styling.

Definitely one of the best Yamaha stage piano. It’s my favourite piano but unfortunately it’s not for India. If I will get the opportunity then I will buy from other countries.❤
Hallo Tony, surely in this new 525 there are more sophisticated acoustic piano voices ( among these Cfx one) but about keyboard mechanic and old Ghs? Compared to previous 515 is a backstep?
Does it work well as a midi controller for VST? I’ve had issues with Yamaha’s not sending the full 0-127 velocity range thus resulting in unrealistic playing sending very poor dynamic range (this can’t be fixed with curve editing).
The keyboard feel is as important if not more important than the sound? No chance....I have the P 515...love it...individual note sound can be a bit clangy...otherwise fantastic value
How does it compare to the FP90x as far as piano sound and layering piano with strings/pads. One thing I notice with the 525 is when layering the piano with strings, the strings cut out and don’t sustain like the FP90x. Is there a way to get the strings to hold longer and not cut out so easily?
That's Yamaha's string behavior since long ago. In PSR series, we can adjust the sustain length, but in P series i don't know. Some might prefer that behavior since if you play many keys in one sustain, the string notes do not stack up.
Hello Tony, should I buy one then it's certainly 'for the road'. Can you give me an indication HOW HEAVY this guy actually is? I mean: 'car-in-car-out' wise. Is the average WOMAN capable of getting it into her car easily or should she definitely need someone to help her get it in and out of the car??
I'm absolutely AMAZED how anybody can regard this as a "huge leap forward" when in my opinion it is a "huge step back". The keyboard feels very unbalanced and in my opinion it actually sounds worse than the P515. I was expecting great things from this instrument but how can Yamaha get this so badly wrong 😭
Yeah I agree, this pianos trash and honestly I dropped the P series after the 100s because they just became awful, Dgx models are million times better at everything
