- The Taj Mahal, an exquisite symbol of love, is an Islamic ivory-white marble also known as Sang e Mar Mar mausoleum on the banks of the river Yamuna in Agra Uttar Pradesh. A symbol through which the world is reminded of India. This Engineering marvel was commissioned in 1631 by one of the most famous Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a tomb or mausoleum to house favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; It also consists of the tomb of Shah Jahan himself.

17:25 what he said is really true.. when we went to TajMahal, after visiting the whole monument, we targeted a bench there itself where we could sit and just watch the Tajmahal.. Believe me, we sat there till the evening time, security has asked us to leave and we were still enjoying.. Time didnt allow us otherwise we wanted to do the same activity next day morning.. just watching it..

late W E Begley who was a professor of Indian and Islamic Art History at University of Iowa had studied for more than 45 year about Shahjahan and his buildings wrote a book on Tajmahal "Taj the illumined Tomb" once told me that most astonishing thing about Tajmahal is its measurements and it's accuracy once he got it measured by Lazer techniques and found it perfect in all geometry and symmetry these amazing things are overshadowed by false stories.

Not much taken up by monuments and buildings. I couldn't stop listening to this lecture. Born and brought up in Delhi so am very familiar with Humayun tomb and have noted the similarity with the Taj. Also the 900 deepwell foundation was a revelation. Thank you for sharing such an informative video. Can you do one on pre 1857 Delhi ?
