    Oh man, it's so heartbreaking when this happens! Feel Terry's pain so personally!
    Last year and earlier this year, we had a recall on all brown sugar, golden syrup and molasses. As a cafe that does pastry goods, we were basically screwed! For around 5 months we couldn't make any recipes containing those items :(

      @@HerculesCandy It was quite crazy! From November last year up until around April or so!
      Sadly it was contaminated with lead, so that was a bit of risk! Made Christmas quite the struggle with fruit puddings, cakes and gingerbread cookies! (From New Zealand!)
      Really hope Hercules doesn't have to go through this loss ever again! Don't even want to imagine how heartbreaking it must be to see all the loss of stock :( Not just the price of ingredients, but all the hard work and hours put into producing :(

They have to have insurance in order to be in business and this is exactly what it's for. Im imagining Steve and or Terry shoveling the recalled product into the furnace! 😆
    That’s one way to heat the shop!

    I hope your insurance covers at least some of the loss. However, don't forget to keep careful records for taxes as this would definitely qualify as a loss. So sorry for ya'all. Hope things go more better. Cheers from Texas.

    I'm sorry that you had to go through all that. My family owns/operates a grocery store. We lost lots of profit too.

      BUMMER !! That must have added so much work also. I wonder how widespread it is. I hadn’t heard about it until Hercules. It is my only peanut butter ever !! Blessings from California. What state are you in ? 🥜 🐿 🥜 🐘

    Good idea to mix it up in the future? Half Jif products and half Skippy? Same for anything subject to recalls? Yes, that would mean additional labels, but it might save more in time/labor/dollars. Just a thought.

    • @patti6194
      @patti6194 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say that the amount of time making sure the right ones had the right labels and all that would end up being more than $6k in a year. And it's a lot of effort to put into something that might never happen again.

    Here's a joke for Terry and the molasses secret. A family of moles lived on a hill looking over a farmhouse and every Sunday, the farmers wife would get up early and start cooking a huge breakfast. She made country ham, bacon, sausages, pancakes and biscuits with molasses, eggs, fried potatoes and fresh squeezed orange juice. One Sunday, Poppa Mole stuck his head out of their hole and sniffed the air. He yelled down to his wife, Momma Mole, "Rosie", "Come on up and smell what the farmer's wife is cooking today. I can smell bacon and ham and fried potatoes. " Momma Mole pushed her head out of their hole and took a deep sniff and then yelled down to their son, Bobby. "Come up here and smell what the farmer's wife is cooking...I can smell biscuits and pancakes and the sweet smell of fresh orange juice." Bobby Mole tried and tried to push his way up to smell it all for himself but no matter how hard he pushed, he just couldn't get past Poppa Mole and Mamma Mole. Finally he just gave up and sat on the floor near the opening and pouted. Mamma and Poppa Mole called to him, asking if he could smell any of the wonderful smells in the air this morning to which, Bobby Mole grumbled, "I tried and I tried but all I can smell from here is Molasses. Now, that's a Molasses joke for ya, lol.

    It’s usually fun having a Jif plant here in Lexington cause of the delightful smell of roasting peanuts wafting down the street. But it’s been a bummer to need such a widespread recall. Sorry it affected your candy!
