I've used RIT All Purpose Dye to overdye some superwash wools on my stove, and it is SO MUCH EASIER than what you went through with this acrylic. I'm glad you ended up with a color you liked. I was so surprised by just how much lighter it looked dried at the end than wet.
🧶It looks really nice! I can't wait to see how it works up, I love me some variegated yarn. I too am getting ready to do some dying, just not yarn. I save clothes that have gotten stained and dye over them.
A few pieces of advice/notes (my experience is not with acrylic but general dyeing techniques): There’s a tool called a niddy noddy for rehanking yarn. Also your yarn ties if tied too tight on the hank will create resist spots for the dye Dry yarn will unevenly absorb dye, but when wet all the fibers are ready to accept water/dye and it will be more even (which is why you soak it!) Acrylic as plastic can melt with heat, which might be why it feels different The first technique was called immersion dyeing, and the second is hand painting! Natural fibers should be soaked in warm/hot water for about half an hour to allow the fibers to be ready for dye, but other than that your process seemed great and should work for other fibers!! Good job!
🧶I've done it twice with some oddball cotton skeins! I did natural dye! The first was with tea and I loved how it turned out! The other one I dyed with coffee but I didn't like it so I redyed it with sumac. P.S. I wanted to follow you on instagram, but the link didn't work :)

🧶 I love the way it turned out!!
🧶 The yarn turned out beautifully! Can't wait to see it knitted up!
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to see how it knits up too!! 🤩
It was great seeing you learn more about the yarn dyeing process. Love your passion to learn and try new things. 🧶
🧶✨️🥰 it. It turned out gorgeous...great job👍!!
Turned out great! You are so adventurous!
Wow interesting process. I have overdyed plenty of natural fibers, but I haven't tried acrylic. I love chaotic dying experiments
It’s beautiful. Can’t wait to see your knitting project 😊
I actually just starting knitting with it this weekend! I’ll be making a video of how it turns out!

That’s cool that you are giving a second life to some stained clothes by dyeing them!!!
I love your enthusiasm. The passion knit shirt suits you to a TEE. Love the yarn. Have a great day. Sandy from Long Island. NY
Awww thanks Sandy! You're so sweet! 🥰

You are so knowledgeable! I really appreciate all these tips! 🤩
@@Chromatic_Kaylalet me know if you have any other Qs; I’m about to teach a dyeing class at my local yarn shop
That seems like a lot of work, not so much the dying but the learning process of dying yarn. Interesting
Ps. You are also clever. Necessity is the mother of invention. Have a great day. Sandy. Again
This was fun to watch. ❤🧶

I love the idea of natural dyeing, I definitely think I will have to try it in the future!!
Love how these turned out!! 🧶 I can't wait to see it worked up in a project
